  1. I work in a hospital with patient accounts, there is emergency medicaid for non citizens and residents less than 5 years, the criteria is very strict and it also depends what state you live in. Basically it will cover life or limb situations like, L&D, pancreatitis, miscarriage. The criteria you have to be one of the following: parent of a minor, under 18, over 65, pregnant, or be deemed disabled by social security and still have to fall underneath the income scale for medicaid. In our state you have to make less than $350/mo. to qualify as parent of a minor. On the application it does ask if you have a sponsor.

The hospital I work in does offer charity assistance which gives a discount depending on your income. This does not count as public assistance.

Best bet is to talk to someone in patient accounts, most hospitals are willing to work with you as far as programs, or payment arrangements. If you do not reply to them soon, your chances of getting into a program are reduced. Your chances of going into collections are increased.

  2. I can see your point, it is just that this whole process has made me very weary and careful, and it makes me feel like I do not trust all information received by them because they do make many mistakes.

I am glad you have GC in hand, I think that is when I will be better able to inhale a little easier. Best of luck to you, both.

  3. I would still act like if it is a 2 year greencard and do the necessary removal of conditions to be on the safe side, because you have been married for under 2 yrs. It's kinda hard to convince the government that they made a mistake, besides you are aware they made the mistake, that means it is your responsiblity to fix it.

    BTW: Congratulations, on getting GC!!

  4. I will tell you all our story, I have children from a previous marriage, didn't think I would want anymore. I got my tubes tied, then got divorced. Then, I met my wonderful husband, he doesn't have any kids, this is his first marriage. He is 32 I am 35. Now we want to get a tubal reversal and try for a baby. I would like to have a baby with him, but he really, really wants a baby. I am afraid if the surgery is not successful, he will be dissappointed in me.
