lol why do people share the timeline then? even yourself is posting your own timeline under your own post, and then you say "There is absolutely no information to be gleaned from gathering data from other filers. "

I add in the information in case folks want the data.  But the data is going to be useless is all I'm saying.  What you choose to do with the data is your prerogative.  You asked for an estimate on when you should expect to receive an interview notice and folks responded with the correct answer of there is no way to accurately tell that.

I hear you. I was mainly asking people to share their timeline, if they ALREADY received reuse notice and interview notice.

I see so many people asking this same question and it continues to baffle me.  Others' timelines has ZERO impact on your or anyone else's filing.  You and someone else could file on the very same day, have the same local office, and receive biometrics reuse notices on the same day, yet your interview could be the same day, or weeks, or months apart.

There is absolutely no information to be gleaned from gathering data from other filers.  It will end up giving you false hope (of a quick resolution on your case) or unnecessary frustration (if someone else takes a lot longer to receive an interview) as you might get yours a lot sooner.

There are just far too many variables and unexplained randonmess to USCIS processing.  That's all @JFH and @igoyougoduke were trying to say with their response.

Sometimes they move things around for workload balance. The same happened last summer when people in western Washington state were sent to Yakima and Portland, OR. I’m so far south in Washington that Portland would be closer but so far my application is still in Seattle. The way I see it, this is my last step on the USCIS journey and if I have to make one long dreadful car journey for it to be all over than so be it. I’ll then be done with USCIS forever.

That’s exactly where my head is at! While Nashville would be a far more convenient location, at this point I’ll suck it up and do the 12-hour drive if it means that I can done with this last step sooner.

Looking at the quarterly processing data I just pulled, the Memphis office seems to get far fewer cases assigned to them and have half the pending load that the Nashville office has as of Q3. So I almost wish even with the longer drive that my case gets assigned to Memphis.

  4. For any Tennessee filers that might be interested, here is some quarterly data for N-400 processing at the Nashville and Memphis field offices obtained from the following link:

Why would your interview be moved to a different office?

The N-400 interview does not require the spouse to be present even for the 3-year rule. And during COVID times there are even more efforts to reduce the number of people in the building at any one time and spouses cannot even wait in the waiting room.

With regards to the local office issue, up until 2018 the Nashville office only serviced biometrics appointments and we only had one full service local office in the state out in Memphis. Even after the Nashville operations opened up to full service (interviews included), I have seen several cases in the progress reports threads where folks have been sent to the Memphis office, even though the Nashville office was only a few minutes away for them. Very frustrating given the distance some of us have to travel to the Memphis location. So I am not sure which office they will assign my case to. I am really hoping it is the Nashville office!

Glad to hear spouses aren’t required to be present for the interviews. Makes things much easier for us.

I don't think she have to go since it's not a combo interview. Also with the COVID, I believe the letter now specifically states only you should appear for N400. You should give them a call if you are worried about it. In my opinion, I don't think it is necessary and also you are already in the 5-yr category where I heard it is much more relaxing interview.

That’s good to know that the letter specifically states that only the person filing should appear. I didn’t think that she would need to appear especially since I’m at the 5 year mark now.
Also good to know that the 5 year interview is more relaxed. Just curious - in what way is it more relaxed if you have some more info on that topic?

I am not aware of any requirements for the spouse to attend an N400 interview even if filing under the 3 year rule.  In my wife's case, I was in the waiting area at the time, but I was not invited into the actual interview for the N400 (I was initially brought back as we had a combo I751 interview first, but then I was dismissed and my wife completed her N400 interview).

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the info! I’m sure we can have my wife come with me but just wanted to avoid it given the drive if she wasn’t needed, or looks like even allowed into the interview room. Cheers!

  8. Are they any circumstances wherein it is required, or advisable that the spouse attend the N400 interview?  I filed under the 5-year rule and there is a chance that my interview might get scheduled (whenever that happens!) at the Memphis office.  That is where I had my AOS interview.  It is an extremely inconvenient office for me to go to since it is a 6-hour one way trip, which involves an overnight stay.  If it is not required that my wife attend, it would save her from having to take days off from work for it.

I do plan on taking all the evidence of our marriage etc... along with me but just wanted to see if there were any situations where it would be required for her to be present as well.

I'm still hopeful that the assign my case to the Nashville office, which would only be a 3-hour one way drive.

What is the point of you trying to shut me down. Its a forum and we share our experiences. If you dont want to share dont share yours no one is forcing you to share yours or help anyone if you dont want to. But you dont have to reply to people saying why are you asking this, what is the use blah blah blah.

Nobody is trying to shut you down. We’re just giving you the correct answer to your questions which you just so happen not to accept for some reason. I am glad to share details of my case which I have in my filing month and on my timeline. But once again, you tell me - what benefit does that provide you other than some false hope/disappointment? That should answer your own questions for you. The reason I asked why you are asking for peoples biometrics dates is to understand what it was you were trying to accomplish with data since you yourself agreed that there were several factors which might affect everyone’s progress.

Anyways, I’m done here - don’t want to waste any more time trying to get you to understand, or accept the correct answer to your question. Good luck finding the unicorn.

Yes I know all that. Every case is different, every location is different, big cities have more immigrants, covid, there are many parameters etc etc. Been there many times thats not my question though.

My question is did anyone get the Biometrics Interview from this Thread of Nov2020 Filers or any date filers. So I am waiting for people to respond who might have received the Bio from this thread/Nov2020 filers or any previous filers.

What is the point of getting responses on who might have received biometrics appointments out of the Nov 2020 filers? What good is that going to do for you, knowing all well that their dates and timing of events will have absolutely zero impact on your case or anyone else’s? What you’re going to end up with is data that is absolutely worthless to your case. You are not going to find the magic bullet you are looking for.

So I applied august 28th, had interview today and passed.

Had my interview at the Durham office. My interviewer was amazing, so friendly, we joked, laughed etc.

walked into the building and saw the receptionist - who was on a computer screen, waited 10 mins to be told to go into room number 5.

sat down in front of 2 iPads. The interviewer was on one and the other was for signing docs.

I was pleasantly surprised to be told to go downstairs to the “Nat room” where my certificate was waiting. Recited the oath of allegiance, and that’s that!

Start to finish - 104 days

I think not having my biometrics taken again was a big fast-forward

    ahhh the relief!!!

Congrats! That is a really quick turnaround for you, even with the fast processing times at the Raleigh FO. Just out of curiosity - when was your last biometrics done?

Edit: I see from your prior post that they were within the past 10 years. That’s a pretty generous window. Good for you!

Mine says to bring this appointment letter, green card, passport and certificate of marriage and birth certificate or naturalization certificate of the spouse

Regardless of what the letter says it is a good idea to bring everything you could possibly need. Both required documents as well as evidence. Doesn’t hurt to bring more than what you might need. Better to come over prepared than miss any documents and get an RFE to further delay the process.

There would be a pattern, If we know which date filers are getting Biometrics appointments in November & December we will have a rough idea when the later people will get the appointments.

At each filing location it would be in some sequence. Its not like they will send Biometrics Appointment letters randomly.

If there is one word to describe the USCIS processing order, it is random. I’m sure you’ve experienced it before with some of your other filings. Just browse through the other monthly threads and you will see folks who have submitted their applications months after some others are already done with the entire process while the others are still waiting on biometrics. You have a better shot at winning three consecutive PowerBall jackpots that you would trying to get a pattern on USCIS.

Hi All, Which filing dates are getting Biometrics appointment now ie in December 1st & 2nd week 2020 ?

Not sure what you mean exactly but there is no set pattern on getting appointment dates so not sure how anyone can tell you which filing dates exactly are receiving biometrics appointment letters at this time. It all depends on how busy each filing location is.

  15. Hello. I haven’t seen too many Tennessee filers on the various monthly spreadsheets I have come across so this may be a long shot. But I would appreciate it if those of you who have filed your N-400 in Tennessee could kindly post your case progress here so the rest of us TN filers can get a rough idea of local processing times and what not.

I filed my N-400 on Dec 12, 2020. I am hoping that my case will flow through the Nashville office. It wasn’t open as a full service office back when I completed my AOS and I had to do the brutal 12-hour round trip drive from Knoxville to the Memphis office for my interview!

    Thanks in advance!

1- both these days are very arbitrary and unreliable now due to covid

2- the estimated wait time is the time till you get an update to the next step. So normally if you see 4 days left, it means in 4 days you should have an update on when your biometrics appointment is scheduled. Which is usually the time it takes in normal times. But because of covid many people who filed even in March never received their biometrcis' appointments yet.

If there is an issue after the wait time expires then you should see "we are taking longer...". The 4 days is not the expected date of your biometrics, but the date you should expect an update to the next step of your case (i.e appointment letter). Normally biometrics is 2-3 weeks after you get that notification email. But again due to covid this isn't always reliable.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Yeah, I’m not expecting a quick process with everything going on. Even prior to COVID we knew not to trust the published processing times through all the applications we have filed :)

Case completion is when the whole thing is scheduled to end.

Estimated wait time is the time to the next step (i.e to biometrics, then to interview...)

Are you sure about estimated wait time? My case just updated this morning and now it shows my estimated wait time to be 4 days. I imagine that since I just submitted my application the next step would be biometrics. But I don’t have my appointment letter yet. 4 days is a pretty quick turnaround to receive mail and have to drive to the ASC for the biometrics.

You will find in on your online case status in a couple of days from the filing. Keep checking. Today I am able to see my receipt notice also on my online account.

Thanks! I checked this morning and it shows my completion date to be October 2021. I’m hoping it will get done sooner than that as I have a vacation planned for the end of November.

I have created a spreadsheet for Dec 2020 fillers; you can access it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1krjUsYJAXqbDIuNL0y9UY2uOcBt5dr1Ji1jdbO63Dj0/edit?usp=sharing

Let me know if you've problems accessing it. Thank you, @Timona for the suggestion!

    Good luck everyone! ☺️

Thank you so much for doing this!  I have added my update.  Hopefully all the December filers will post in this thread and update the spreadsheet so we can get a good idea of the progress for December filers.

  20. I just submitted my application yesterday and found that the first step of the online application process is to enter your GC details and the system will tell you what rule you qualify under.  My GC was issued via marriage but more than 5 years back and it automatically picked the 5-year rule.  The 90-day early filing window applies to you so I'm pretty sure when you enter your GC details in the first step, it will select the 5-year rule filing for you as well.

Filed it y'day now I can see the following TWO facts, how to understand them?

Estimated case completion time December 2021 (12 months)

    Estimated wait time: 4 days

Where do you access the case status that shows the estimated case completion time?  When I log in to my USCIS account, it shows the info in the first screenshot below (no estimated completion time).  The other case status link (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do) shows the same info (shown in the second screenshot)

I just filed my application online yesterday so not sure if it takes a few days for the completion date to show up or not?
