  1. I watched the other seasons-semi religiously. My wife and I, like everyone else loved the bizarre inconsistencies, downright insanity and manufactured drama.

This season though seems different. I have to say, after the first episode, I'd usually come away with mild schadenfreude, that okay - these people are foolish, but I'm willing to bet that TLC is editing hard- BUT for some reason I just felt sad. It's like this season has just leaned in on the most mean spirited and ridiculous couples they could find. I don't even think I can hate watch this year. It's just too heavy on negativity.

  2. I think you watch too much "90 Day Fiance" TV. The K-1 is specifically for getting married.

It's funny. I was specifically thinking about that show as I read this because this is exactly what that show is purporting the K-1 to be. It worries me for future petitioners.

OP. K-1 is for those who are engaged with intent to marry. Pure and simple.

    Anything else is another visa.

  3. I'm so glad VJ nipped these ####### in the bud after their first season. The production company was back sniffing around the forums for fresh meat immediately after season 1 aired and they greenlit season 2 but VJ politely asked them to leave (More politely than I would have). The show was deliberately misleading and did nothing but stigmatize an already misunderstood Visa. This show did nothing but make the K1 visa process look like a free ticket for scammers and misanthrope victims which couldn't be further from the truth.

As for the individual Kzeilu who is so thoroughly down on this process... well I can't speak to your life or the life of others, but I love my wife, she loves me and God willing that won't change. I'm sorry for your negativity.

  4. Hi! Sorry I meant to respond to this last week!

Well, we were successful mostly! Our AOS is approved, but as it turns out they didn't have Chickenpox vaccine in Moscow so we had to go take care of that. Otherwise all is well and we're essentially done.

The whole process was very easy. We arrived about 7:30, there was plenty of parking. We went through the security checkpoint and were sent upstairs which was already surprisingly full of people who were waiting for window services. They come out and call you by name for the interview. At about 8:05 we were called back and interviewed with a woman who seemed all business at first but warmed up a lot over the course of the interview. Some very basic questions that anyone who has spent any amount of time with their husband/wife should know and then we gave evidence of our relationship (We brought phone bill/Insurance paperwork but somehow the one document I managed to forget was our lease on our apartment- she was okay with it.) And about 15 photos which we went through and she kept for our file. After that she said we were approved pending the vaccination.

All told we were out the door by 8:22. Very efficient, very professional. I was very nervous going in but when all is said and done, it was a very straightforward procedure. So good luck to you! I'm sure though, that you'll do great.

    Best!

  5. Hello All,

My husband and I have our AOS interview in a month at the Portland Oregon field office.

I am wondering if anyone has experience with the AOS interview in Portland and can advise how long the process took.

Asking as my husband needs to book a flight for work to depart the evening of our interview and we want to be sure to leave a sufficient amount of time.

    Thanks in advance.

Ours is next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

  6. Yes I know. I'm planning on just going there. I'm applying for my Nigerian Visa next week. Can anyone tell me if I'm required to go to the Visa place or will they just mail my Visa to me...

It varies from country to country. Some require you go to the Embassy to apply, some don't. Check out the website for Nigeria and they should have a very thorough explanation of what you need to do to begin your tourist visa process.

  7. You are extrapolating your unusual situation and assuming it is the norm.

Most 'interviews' last a few minutes and the decision has been made well in advance.

    This is absolutely the case.

OP, I want to strongly urge you not to include the letter you wrote, it is an almost absolute guarantee that they will deny based on the use of 'girlfriend' alone.

  8. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Lesnaya

It was a little pricey but not too terrible. It was good in that you can take the train into Moscow from the airport and walk from the train station to the hotel. Then metro to the embassy which is about two stops away as the metro was right there also.

There are also some creature comforts in that there is a Starbucks very close and my favorite Russian chain restaurant Elki Palki.

  9. Usually the AP will flip back and forth a few times before landing on Issued. Don't worry about it until there is something to worry about. You can in fact contact the consulate. They will let you know what's going on.

Also- I hate to be 'that guy' but you might consider typing this out in regular English as opposed to 'netspeak'. Most of us are professionals and really don't want to decipher it.
