It looks like you just got your I551 and haven't travelled outside the US without a valid GC or the I551 stamp. The experience, for us, was different. I have no green card whatsoever to scan or show as proof. My issue was with the airline secondary or a joint program with CBP/airport (not sure). Whether it's 15 or 45 minutes, it's a long time to be stressed out on when and how you'll come back. As far as CBP goes, without a scannable GC, you can't go through CBP together. Not technically. We did the last time but since there's nothing to scan, any secondary is done alone. They even needed separate declarations. (At least that's what happened last time)

Someone else's experiences and choices don't have to affect you but you don't have to belittle and attack others. Everyone's experiences are valid.

Can you explain what you mean by -" separate declaration"  did he have to sign some thing?

It isn't paranoia - there's been cases that have had issues at re-entry. I almost got rejected from boarding as they couldn't be sure sure I didn't create the passport stamp myself. They had to call multiple supervisors to get approval. Even entering the country in September, there was more scrutiny upon entry asking case specifics and manually checking status for about 10-15 minutes. It's very, very unlikely but it happens.

For me, it causes anxiety just knowing that I have to pass POE when I leave the US without a physical GC or N400 processed. By reducing my trips abroad, it doesn't do any harm to anyone.

Boarding approval is from airlines and not immigration.

The guy at the airlines ticketing counter , where you get your boarding passes, did not know or perhaps does not need to know everything about USA immigration.. .. That's why he had to contact supervisor to get it approved before printing boarding passes.....  But I understand the frustration, I have a stamp in my passport and to add salt to the injury.  The stamp ink is Soo lightly showing that no one can read what it says... So if the airlines boarding guys look at this.. they will be like.. what the heck is this. Is it a Visa, what visa,...the blue ink does not show up clearly... It's scary to say the least.....

is anyone with an NOA1 date prior to July 19th still waiting? Mine is actually July 19th, and a Tier 2 said I don't qualify to file a service request, because they are working exactly on my date.... but seeing all the people who are getting approved with NOA1s past the magic date, this is beginning to make less and less sense....

I could not find your info in the above tracking list.

So, (because I have all kinds of better things to do but I'm also a very talented procrastinator), I started searching for all the people on the CSC July 2016 list who seem to have been "skipped over" in the approval process.

The most recent couple of approvals are from people with NOA dates of July 25. The people who are not showing as approved are:

    • People who filed N-400 (sorry, it doesn't look too good for those people getting a physical 10 yr GC - they'll eventually get citizenship instead)
    • 2 or 3 people who mentioned in-thread that they'd received RFEs
    • Almost all the rest are people who haven't actually been active on VJ at all for months. So it's actually reasonable to assume that some (if not all) of them have actually been approved, and they just aren't visiting the site to update us.

I actually find that quite reassuring, which is why I've shared. It seems like August approvals may finally be not too far away!

    Good luck everyone!

July approvals are almost at their tail end for CSC. ...  August anytime now......

Thank you.  Do you think our filing one now even though the hearing is in December will be too  late?  Also, since it was a municipal charge- will it even show up on the criminal check?  He's since gotten a new job and passed background checks.

If you do a Google search for " can a domestic voilence be expunged or sealed in Colorado" you can see some answers,. But it's it's time to get a immigration attorney on board....

An update: got my approval letter yesterday.

    A quick timeline:

    I-751 filed 09-13-2016

    NOA1 date (receipt date) 09-20-2016

    Biometrics taken 10-21-2016

    Approval date 10-13-2017

Approval letter received (delivery from VSC to Atlanta, GA) 10-20-2017

For your information, Approval letter does not have "Return service request" stamp. Here is the picture of my envelope. So, I think it will be forwarded by USPS if accidentally sent to your old address and you have USPS forward mail service set up.

    IMG_20171021_174853328_HDR.jpg

They charge us hundreds of dollars fees , and don't even use tracking no for these letters... What a pity....

The most important documents of our life is being sent on a 0.46 cent stamp.....

Hi All.  I called USCIS this morning and was transferred to an immigration officer.

He confirmed my address, then told me my case was 'protected' and could only be discussed with an attorney or a Congressperson's representative.

A few months ago I was told my case was 'restricted' and 'sensitive' and couldn't be discussed over the phone, only in writing.

Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know what it means for an i-751 application to be considered 'sensitive', 'restricted' or 'protected'?

Did you get an infopass appointment at your nearby USCIS ? You can talk to immigration officer there.

    Hello,

I am in ROC process for past 17 months(yes gahhh). So i got the stamp I-551. I have been avoiding to travel outside US but now I am sick and tired of waiting.Me and my husband want to go to Mexico for a vacation.

My situation is this my passport expired so when i went to get the green card stamp(I-551)at local InfoPass, they took my actual green card and they gave me this little paper with the I-551 stamp. Honestly the paper looks so bogus,so now i am worried if I travel and to re-enter I will have issues.

I have traveled before on my green card and I had terrible experience,I was questioned for 3 hours because they couldnt find that I was married in their system. This is why I have been putting off traveling outside the US,since it seems like they are kind of confused with their systems and stuff.

I want to hear your experience traveling on I-551 and if you had any issues entering the US. Also I will be getting a new passport, should I go back to Info Pass and ask for stamp there?

    Thank you

I think your situation is a little different, your passport is going to expire, you don't have the plastic green card, your passport does not have a ink stamping , all that is left is a piece of fake looking paper with a ink stamping..   you may have to check with the airlines if they will allow boarding?

    Dear All,

    just a quick question:

anybody have passed the extension letter deadline and not get the stamp? Is the stamp necessary if you don’t travel?

My extension letter expires next week and I have not got the stamp on my passport - should I or keep waiting?

Thanks. Wishing patience for all, including myself here!!!

Stamping is not mandatory... this is not a visitor Visa that expires..

Okay...so I figured I might start checking my USCIS account (for giggles of course, because I don't expect anything different just now anyway). So I navigate to the bookmark I have and enter the receipt number and BINGO....nothing new, just as expected. I go to the "Login" button and try to log in and it says that my account is locked either due to too many attempts to log in (BS, I haven't even tried in months) or inactivity (Bazinga!) Anyway, it tells me to reset my password, so I jump through the flaming hoops and do so, only to have them reiterate that my account has been locked, yada,yada...

There are no options to reach out for help to unlock it. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm thinking I have to go in and create a new account with another email address, or something. Pretty stupid if that's the case....

Any guidance at this point would be much appreciated :)

This happened to me so many times that I have stopped complaining about it....

I am curious to find out if among pending June applicants, is there anyone (other than) either received RFE or has applied for N400 ?

My NOA is 07/01/16 and I have filed for N400. I am trying to figure out if anyone in June portal has applied for N400 and have gotten the approval for I-751 within the normal processing time?

I second that...is there any one who applied for N400, and got approval for I-751

Just wanted to share a update for all who are wondering. My wife is a Indian citizen, she has a expired green card and is awaiting her 10 year green card. They have given her form i-797 which allows for work and travel while she awaits her new green card. We are travelling to mexico in October 2017. For all whom are in the same situation, you do need a Mexican visa. Travelling with a expired GC and form i-797 will not be enough to enter mexico. The visa process is simple, some states require a appointment and others don't. Be sure to look at the general and tourist visa requirements. In addition to what is listed, if he/she is applying as your dependent you will need original and copy of marriage cert. As well as a copy of your American passport/ID. Still remember to bring your expired GC and i-797 on your trip as you will need it to re-enter the United States.

I Have heard and read stories where the visa is not needed, and even speaking to USCIS they said we were fine without it. However, that doesn't mean the customs official in Mexico will feel the same way. It only cost us $36.00...small price to pay and easy process. Hope this helps!

I agree..... If your passport is from a country which requires a Visa to travel most of the world,.  Then you may need to get a visit Visa, or even a transit Visa.... check the immigration web site of the country traveling and or transiting.....
