  1. It just seems as though the top categories (financial, property, children) are not factors in our relationship currently.

So pictures of us together, enjoying each others company and such would provide good evidence? I just want this to go as smoothly as possible since finding out how long of a waiting period it was from application to immigration nearly killed our last visit together when we started planning things out (whose moving where and what not).

I shouldn't have any problem with the affidavit of support financially but I will be moving in August but I have a permanent residence I can put down initially and change afterwards am I correct?

    yip you got it :)

and people always move so uscis I am sure is okay with changing simple data

  2. My wife and I are about to apply for the CR-1 Visa. We have no common resources, property, or children, so as far as we can tell our support will rely on the affidavits we get from friends and family. How many affidavits should we try to obtain? Should it be a mix of Canadian and US? Can the majority be from family? What can we tell our supporters to submit in their affidavits?

Other evidence we can submit are thousands of pictures from our time together and our travels, and tickets showing that over the last 6 months we have been visiting each other about every week and a half for extended times. What other evidence can any of the VJers suggest?

Thank you guys! We are so excited to start our lives together!!heart.gif

quality representation of your relationship over time, not so much quantity and seeing how many pictures and trips have been made, that should be easy for you

it is debatable if affidavits work, but if they make you more comfortable than it's fine

you will eventually need to file affidavit of support which is financial sponsorship and prove domicile, or proof or re-domicile by the time you get past immigration and into the visa part of the paperwork

  3. My NOA1 is dated March 20th 2013. I know most files gets transferred to local field office. Unlike others, I am able to track my case online with my MSC receipt number and it does not show any transfer as of yet. Well my question is if or when NBC transfers my file to a local field office will it show up online? Do they inform petitioners that file has been transferred?

    Thanks!

i never got notice of a transfer mail or otherwise

  4. My wife is currently a permanent resident here in the United States. She is pregnant with our second child, and we really would like her mother to be able to come up to be here when the baby is born in September. My mother in law is in the process of getting her passport (Mexican government really giving her a hard time about it over some minor technical issues) and then we plan on applying for her tourist visa.

For work she sells beauty products, etc... and my father in law pays most of the bills, although they are separated at the moment and he is working a few hours away from home. She has other children in Mexico and grandchildren and has absolutely no intention on staying her more than a couple of months at the most. She can probably get receipts from bills that she pays for gas, internet, rent, etc... but like I said, she doesn't have a very stable job.

I am planning on sending some affidavits, stating that I am currently a law student, and that I am working at a stable job and that I will provide for her while she is here. We also will send a letter from my wife's doctor confirming her pregnancy and due date. In addtion, my parents said they are willing to send affidavits vouching for her and saying that they will help provide for her as well for the time that she is here.

Does anyone have any advice for our situation? Are the affidavits and confirmation of pregnancy, along with whatever receipts she has from her bills a good starting point? What else would you recommend that we have her take to the embassy in Mexico City?

    Thanks!

sounds to me like your affidavits may back fire, but I will let someone else chime in on that

the burden to prove that they will return to their home country is on the applicant

your affidavits seem to provide a strong case that her ties are stronger to the united states than mexico

  5. Hi,

my fiance in the States is unable to use internet for the next 2,3 weeks, so it's on me to find out what to prepare for his petition. I've been looking up everything on the USCIS homepage, but still it's pretty confusing comparing those informations with the informations I found on a Do-it-yourself-K1-Visa-Package.

I just wanna know what are the exact first steps to get the forms, any letters or documents together and prepared so I can send that list to my fiance and he can fill out everything and let him send it to the local office in Atlanta.

Thank you in advance for helping me out with the right informations :-)

unable to use internet for the next 2-3 weeks?????

    uhmmm public library.. helloooooo

    fed-ex hourly rentals .. hellllloooooo

    a friend with a computer .. hellloooooooooooooo

    something sounds fishy

  6. Hi everyone!

I'm new here and completely overwhelmed by trying to figure out this process...

I am Canadian and am married to a US Citizen and he is going to file the I-30 but have some questions that I am hoping someone can help out with:)

    - When providing "copies" of previous divorce and our marriage certificate, do we submit hard copies or photocopies?

    - The guy that took my photo for the I-30 told me I need to submit both photos, but in reading what we need to include it only says we need to include 1 of each of us. Is it 1 or is it 2?

    - For the documentation he needs to provide to show he is a US Citizen does he need to provide all of the mentioned documents or just one of the ones mentioned? I am pretty sure 2 and 3 may not apply? And Also, again, hard copies or photocopies?

    1. Birth certificate

    2. Certificate of Citizenship issued by the USCIS

    3. Form FS-240

    4. A copy of his Passport

    5. An original statement from a US Consular Office verifying he is a US Citizen with a valid Passport

Sorry if these questions are already answered or silly. I tried searching but couldn't find exact answers in these forums.

    Thank you so much!

    Roxane

photocopies of everything is fine for now.. originals and copies are needed for nvc but that is just for the benificiary

    I would submit both pictures

passport copy bio data page proves citizenship.. nothing else needed

check out the wiki guide here, it has it all for you

  7. Hello everyone, I don't seem to find an accurate answer to my question searching online or on the forums.

My husband and I have exchanged several emails, mostly in English, but sometimes we mix some odd Spanish words on those emails.

I was thinking on translating those words myself, writing with a pencil on the same email the word in English (like with an arrow connecting both words).

All of them are short words or phrases like “I love you” "My life” and so on. I'm not sure if this will be confussing to them or it will make the things easy to read.

I was also thinking to add a cover letter with a summary of the emails where I will state that I’m fluent in English and Spanish.

I have any other foreign document translated by a Sworn Certified Translator.

What do you think please? Any advice?

Thanks a ton in advance, and thank you for your time,

    Mariana

    Example (attached file)

    attachicon.gifSample Email translation.png

I am sure that is fine

as for translations, they don't have to be done by a certified translator, they just have to be attested to as being a valid translation

  8. Reading here on VJ..they categorize boarding passes as primary evidence..since we are newlyweds..12th of june it will be 2 months for us..we don't have any co-mingling of finances evidence yet..so I'm trying to make up for it with everything else! Lol!

very few people have co-mingling of finances being separated

65 pages for Greece is a little much, if it was a high fraud country, then that would be understandable.

you want quality representation over time.. snippits of emails, chats etc, pictures with captions (I provided 10 total), boarding passes - not really needed, copies of the passport stamps might serve you better there.. remember just because you went somewhere doesn't mean you were together.. just show the evolution of the relationship over time with supporting documents and you are set

my whole petition was less than 40 pages including the bio data and applications.. approved with no issues

  9. I paid $45 to get my package sent express overnight by USPS on Thursday- saying that it would arrive before noon on Friday.

Today is Saturday and I just got a notice that it got to Chicago this morning. They tried to deliver it to USCIS today but "business closed- left notice"...

Yay for USPS for that.... sad.png haha

Should I be worried? Or does anyone know for sure that USCIS will have someone go in to pick up our package...

Thanks guys.... not a great start to the journey haha

hopefully they will attempt to deliver again

highly doubtful uscis will pick it up

  10. I think we will probably wait a bit (we only got NOA1 on 18th April) and seems there are a lot of people ahead of us in the queue! The VJ timeline says we should expect NOA2 in August, and sadly think that's probably true! Thanks for the help though

yikes, sorry I guess I should have checked your timeline, I was reading that as noa2

hopefully this whole mess gets cleaned up before you get your next notice

  11. "I was approved on march 29 and my petition still has not been recieved and NVC so i contacted my congresssmans office. He called today and said that my case is being expeditiously rushed to NVC and he is going to monitor my case to ensure that it is streamlined from this point forward since i have been going through this for a year and a half."

I was approved on March 29th too and NVC hasn't received my petition either. I have a MSC number but my husband lives in California. Do you think my petition was sent to CSC? I've called USCIS spoke to tier 2 rep who put in a request. I sent a request to my congressman last week.

How long did it take for your congressman to get back to you?

    I had the same issue

your file is stuck at the local office that approved it, but should be at the nvc shortly

    csc was never involved

my congressman has not gotten back to me yet.. consent form sent ten days ago

are you able to go for an infopass? I did this after my petition was approved only to find out the file was still at the office

Day 56 for us...on hold now with the USCIS to put in a second service request because the first one was not responded to by the NBC..talked to the senators office this morning they confirmed that they also submitted a inquiry for my petition two days ago...how much more are we suppose to go thru...how much time more must be lost because of their mistake..but i will keep at this..i wont stop until they get on their butts and fix this..hope we all get some answers and get to move on to the next step to being closer to our loved ones..inshallah

    one word

    INFOPASS

  12. Hi,

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Can I send the I-864 AOS and DS-230 together (simultaneously) or I have to send the latter after the AOS?

    2. NVC has recently asked me for "Visa fee". How long from now will I get my appointment date?

    Thanx

as long as both fees are paid both documents are ready for intake

if you send them together, make sure they are separated with each having it's own barcode cover sheet

after case complete you will receive an interview date

interview dates vary depending on how busy the embassy is.. some dates are about six weeks out others can be two to three months out

It would be helpful if you had a timeline, not only for accurate answers, but to help the site with timeline estimates

this answer was for a cr-1 petition

  13. So you're saying both statements in the quote are wrong? The first being that translations are not required, and the second being that the translations don't need to be certified? Why would the NVC put that statement in there if everything in it was completely wrong?

    translations are required

    certified translations are not

or maybe better said, translations are highly recommended to avoid a future rfe, they do not have to be certified

  14. Thanks for your reply. So even though it says it was shipped, it might not be :/. Well my i-130 never got to a local office because its was expedited while still at the national benefits center...

sounds like your good to go!

just keep callin nvc.. remember they are overloaded with petitions as well so the initial input can take an extra day or two.. and I am not sure how the expedite works over there.

  15. Thank you so much for answering yes.gif .... I have been on 2 info pass appointments but i have just scheduled my 3rd for the 21st. But i am praying you are right and I here some good news by then.

    do yourself a favor

if (actually when) you do get approved in the next week or two

    DO NOT CANCEL YOUR INFOPASS

your NOA2 will state it has been mailed to NVC

many members here are experiencing a long wait until it gets to the NVC.... why.. because the local offices are sitting on them and batching them out.. some have taken almost three months, mine took seven weeks

I only found out that it was at the local office with an infopass

it was ONLY with this confirmation that I was able to place a service request before 90 days with uscis

it was due to the fact that I confirmed the location that I could be as relentless with people as I was, instead of having to sit back and wonder if it was lost or where is it

    good luck

would love to keep hearing of your progress!

  16. On the Dept of State site it states clearly that civil documents do NOT need to be translated if they are in the official language of the country of the applicant. So why do I see some people still getting RFEs for this? By the way, my wife is applying from panama and her certificates are in Spanish. Anyone have knowledge of this? Thanks.

first of all, if you choose to get things translated, certified translation is NOT necessary

    second of all

    why risk an rfe??

"All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC."

    And the website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

I know you are quoting something here, but translations do not have to be certified.. this has been covered in dozens of threads

  17. Yes it's my new case status. It reads, "On June 4, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly"

    just call them every day

it doesn't really take 20 days to receive it

I know for a fact mine was shipped on June and received on June 6

on June 7, it was logged in as received

if your petition was approved at a local office and you are able to make an infopass.. do it now just in case your file didn't actually leave when they said it did.

My file was approved April 18.. my NOA2 and email both say it was mailed on April 19.. it sat in the local office until june 4, I confirmed this with an infopass and a whole lot of tree shaking got it out of there (I think)
