I have always been advised that copies are OK. If they need the original of anything they will ask for it.
Good luck!

Thanks. I will keep my fingers crossed!

AFter reading this post I too now have a question ... If I sent with the AOS papers my actual tax return for 2005 should I also should have sent the W2's? I did also include evidence of my employement in the form of pay stubs both recent and a few throughout the past year to show consistant employment. Do you guys think that I will now receive a denial or RFE?

I agree! This website is perhaps one of the most informative sites presently available on the world-wide-web!
Thanks VJ staff!

I am looking for a sample of the cover letter to be used when submitting the AOS/EAD application. Any advice?

Thanks everyone for your replies.
J&Js ... you brought up a good point. The 'red number' should be labeled specifically as the 'visa number'.

My fiance arrived in the USA last month. Since then we got married in a Civil cermony. We are now about to submit his AOS and EAD papers. Question 16 is regarding Eligibility Categories. In our case he is no longer a Fiance of a USC. We got married two weeks ago.
I am confused becaue the category that closest applies to us is "(A6), (C9)." So why does the instruction form for the I765 state that "This EAD cannot be renewed?" (this is on page 3 of the instruction form) Also, below is the mailing info for our application. We found this info here on VJ. Now we are even more confused!
Category (a)(6): Your CIS Service Center (ie. Texas Service Center, etc)
Category ©(9): The USCIS has a new filing policy. You can read it here.
Please help.

We are completing the application for my husbands AOS ... on the I-185 (AOS) form it ask for the Visa #. When looking at his Visa I see the following: 1) Control Number, 2) Passport Number and 3) a number written in the color red in the lower right hand of the Visa. So which of these numbers (if any) is his Visa#?
Thank you in advance for your immediate reply.

I am glad this post was started. Interesting topic ....
Three years ago my cousin married a gentleman from Cameroon. They met while she was in Grad school at Harvard.
Well ... 2 years after their marriage I flew to MA to attend the 1 year old B-day party of her son. While at the party, the sister of my Fiance arrived (I met her 2 years ago during the wedding festivities of my cousin). She started shouting at the top of her lungs, "it's you! It's you!". I remembered her from the wedding (we had an interesting discussion about being single, and waiting on the Lord for a good man). Anyway, I had no idea why she was so excited to see me. But I went along with the vibrance of the occasion. After she calmed down, she explained to my cousin that I was the one she was telling her about all these years. My cousin said "Oh .. you kept on saying that you wanted your brother to meet my 'sister' she is my cousin not my sister" (by the way all of my cousins sisters are married). Anyway, my Fiance's sister reminded me of our conversation from 2 years prior, and said that she felt that I would be a good person for her brother. Hmmmm ..... I thought .... by no means am I interested in 1) a long distance relationship and 2) someone from a differnt culture. Whew .... I am so glad that God will, not my desire was in control. Because I have come to know one of the best human beings I've ever known. Today he is my husband. A man I laugh with, occasionaly have disagreements with, and most importantly ... the first man ever in my life to say "let's pray together".

We receive the NOA for my husbands AOS and EAD filing. His A# on his EAD receipt is correct. However, the EAD on his AOS receipt is completely different. Is this normal?
Thanks.
