  1. Hello all,

    I need a suggestion for DS-3032 email.

Is it ok to put all beneficiaries( wife & two kids) in one email? :help:

    Thank you

Well, I have emailed my 3 forms(spouse, and kids) separately with few minutes in between.

What you need to remember is, each case is separate and it would be better to email them separately.

Because, at the end you re going to get 3 separate, probably consecutive NVC case numbers.

However, keep in mind that emails that have scanned and signed( by beneficiary) DS-3032 forms

have better success getting accepted quicker.

  2. Okay advice. I'm compiling my hubby and I blackberry messenger chat history. I didn't know I would have so much! If I do all of them it will be well over 20+ pages. Maybe closer to 50. But I was told since it was a high fraud country that I would need to include more proof of relationship with the IV.

    Thoughts??

    Photos do explain a lot.

Try to get photos with family members and your hubby, and write down names who are in the photo.

    This will help as well.

  3. I sent my AOS and Packet IV yesterday and it was delivered today to NVC.

Is there something I need to wait for - like an email or some receipt to make sure that my files have arrived and accepted?

Do I just keep calling them daily like we did for the case number and INN?

    Congrats!

Just wait till the beginning of next week (a week max.) and start calling.

Keep in mind that you may receive some false checklists in your email.

I got our case number today! The race is on!

I think they said it was entered yesterday but I was not able to call yesterday.

    Congrats on progress !

  4. CASE COMPLETE! :dance::dance::dance:

Just a quick update on the checklist we received for insufficient income.

We sent an email, following the advice received here, explaining that we did include assets and requesting another review of the evidence we included.

So now, it's up to the officer at the interview to take the final decision.

Interview is scheduled for April 3rd and I already took the appointment for the medical exam.

    Excited!!!

Congrats on case complete news ! :)

  5. I just called the NVC for the 3 rd time today . They now have our file. Yaayyy

But I am starting to think the theory floating around about waiting for approved files from local offices and sending in batches my be closer to the truth. As my file never left the NBC but took forever to get to the NVC. And arrived at the same time as other who were approved about the same time from local offices.

    Congrats !!!

  6. Was he living with his former spouse when he filed single or seperated? Why did he do married filing seperate last year?

He was living and working in US while his spouse was in oversea country. He was vising his oversea spouse every 4-5 month per a month or so.

They have been married and waiting till he gets the citizenship to apply for her IR-1 visa.

He filed as MFS this tax year (2012) after reading about taxes topic in immigration forums.

  7. As we started to discuss the right way to file taxes, i have a question that bothers me.

Is there anything that petitioner should do if his/her taxes are filed as Married filing separately (MFS) for

the Tax Return in 2012, but previous two years has been filed as Single while he was married ?

Basically, the accountant has advised him to file as single in previous two years.

Should the petitioner amend the previous 2 year tax returns or just include an extra letter - explaining

why previous 2 years has been filed as single while he was married?

Which above approach is best to follow in order to have minimal/no issues with Embassy/NVC ?

  8. hey Saylin, thanks for your valuable info on the tax issue....

i clearly understand your above quote, but what i'm confused about is that...when i went and read about the form w-7 on the irs website...it says that the form w-7 is only filled by those who will never get a SSN...but in my case, my husband will be getting a SSN when he lands here..so do we have to fill out the form w-7?? couldn't i just ask for an extension until my hubby gets here and gets his SSN and then file the taxes for the year 2012 as MFJ.

and also if i may ask, what are the needed documents from the foreign spouse in order to obtain an ITIN?..i tried searching for them at the irs website..but unfortunately couldn't find them under the instructions of the form w-7.

    I totally agree with Saylin!

  9. I repeat from above:

Advantage of sending them separately: the AOS is reviewed quicker (than sending it with the IV package, which is typically 1-2+ weeks later), so "more" time to respond to checklists, if there are any.

Advantage of sending them together: you save on postage.

That's all I've seen as far as advantages for both.

    Thank you Saylin !

You have clarified this issue in my head.

  10. My spouse (Petitioner-USC) just called me that she is filling her income tax for 2012, is she suppose to put single as her marital status since the information required need my SSN (beneficiary), which i dont have for now. We are legally married since april 2012.

please i need response, is urgent plsss...thanks alot

No it should not be single. As you are married.

It should be filed married filling jointly/separately.

I personally, could not obtain certified copy of my spouse documents for ITIN and filed as

"married - filing separately"... More about ITIN - IRS

  11. I wouldn't use "supervisor review" for a first email. It's supposed to be used when the first email isn't accepted within the normal 1 - 2 weeks.

I would personally feel uncomfortable "using" the system like that, especially considering the fact that the normal processing time shouldn't slow you down.

I'm curious how other members feel about that?

    Totally agree with you.

NVC system is already crowded and there is no need to spam it. The "supervisor title" should be used once your emailed DS-3032

is not processed after 2 weeks. Personally, i waited for 2 weeks before sending a "Supervisor Review".

  12. FINALLY GOT A CASE NUMBER!!!!!! So excited I don't know what to do with myself!! The guy said it is being processed so he wouldn't take my emails and said to call back with them next week. Is this normal? Can't think straight - need to go back and reread the guides...

The rest of my Feb 11 VJers - hope you get your numbers before the weekend as well! :)

    Congrats!

and welcome to the family :)
