My wife came to U.S on CR-1 visa and lived here for two years. After that I applied to remove her conditional status. We receieved a notice to get the biometric done and we did that on the scheduled date. After that we got a notice saying her visa has been extended for one year.
I am planning to take a cruise to Bahamas and Bahamas does not require visa from U.S citizen or Green Card holder if visiting for less than 6 months and I am going for three days only.
The issue is my Wife's Green Card is expired and all I have is the letter from USCIS that says she has been extended for another year and that she can work and travel.
They don't send you a new green card right away when you apply to remove the condition. After taking biometric they may call you in for an interview and if all goes well they issue you a new card but this whole process takes around 9-12 months from the date you file to remove condition.
I want to confirm if she can travel on the green card or does she need to carry that letter as well to prove her visa was extended ?

Hi VJ members i want to share my interview that was today in ISL PAKISTAN .
Officer called me on window ,3min interview ,just ask me 3 questions and handover me blue sheet saying that we need joint sponsor .
It seems that he was just ready to give me refusal sheet in start of interview or he already decided to give me that sheet .
Even no question about our ongoing relation ,no marriage pics at all .
Now my question to VJ members is that
1. After submitting required documents they will reschedule my interview ?
2.Now me on AP or after submitting docs they will decide to put me on AP or give me visa ?
3.How much time this will take to complete if I submit all my docs ASP ?
Waiting for your informative replies .
Who ever sponsored you, his income was low so you need a joint sponsor. The interviwer probably already knows this after reviewing your affidavit of support documents so dont hate him for giving you a blue refusal sheet. If he asked only 3 questions that means he wss satisfied with your relationship and had no doubts about it.
Submit a new affidavit of support from your sponsor and a joint sponsor and also provide all required doscs such as tax returns, W2 forms and employement letter from BOTH sponsor and joint sponsor.
Once you submit those, you will be given the visa because they have already taken your passport so no need to worry or panic. Once you submit the docs keep in touch with them.
They have already interviwed you so they will not call you again to ISLAMABAD.

Pls telme wen can i expect my interview date as my case completed on dec 6 .
Your case was completed on Dec 6 then by last week of Dec you will get an email with an interview date. It should not be later than Dec 25. But remember, your case was completed in the month of DEC which is the busiest month due to holidays so you will need to pray that they give you the date before going on vacation. My case was completed on Sept 23, and i got an interview letter email Oct 4.

An I864A is needed from joint sponsor (if joint sponsor has same address as you) If joint sponsor lives at a differ address then he/she will submit borh I864 and I864A. Joint sposor will also give most recent tax return, W2 forms. Also a letter from employer that says his/her job title with pay will be a good addition.
If joint sponsor is married and is going to combine his/her spouse income to sponsor then the spouse must also submit I864A

For school, put all including elementry but if you do not remember all way back since elementry then just start from High school and beyond. It doen't matter much as long you dont lie about your school. If you dont remember elementary years dont put them. They never ask about these at interview.
For SSN, put YES you want them to assign you SSN this will make process easy for you as you will get it in the mail rightaway. This is for your own convenience, so utilized it

I started wotking in 2011 and gave them only one year tax return. For other two years i didnt because i was a full time college student with no job so as a proof i gave them my college transcript that shows my enrollement. If you'r husband was in a differ country then give them proof anything which is solid like his exit stamp from US on his passport and other stuff which shows he has been out

Dont worry about it, you will get an email for interview letter if you have put down your email and her's. Your wife can take a new DS230 at interview with new address but i wouldn't recommend it since you have reached your last stage which is to be given an interview date.
Just dont tell them about your new address cuz she will be moving to US anyways so why bother.
Give NVC atleast two weeks to complete your case and then another week or two to give an interview date. After you submit your DS230 to NVC, they will schedule your interview within a month. Be patient, you are done with your part

I wonder what's inside that brown sealed envelope that we are NOT suppose to ever know about!!!
If anyone does, please do tell.
There's nothing that secretive, just some documents that you will sign when you enter US. The officiers would want to make sure they are geniune thats why they advice not to open it until you arrive in US

Give them two week period until they review and close your case. It took them 14 days to close my case after i sent in Ds230 with all supporting docs. Then it took them another 8-10 days to send me an email of interview date. overall, in 30 days your case will be done and you will be given your interview date. Once you send Ds230 you're done! so relax

My wife will be flying to US end of next week and her POE will be done at jfk. My question is what documents are required to carry for POE. I know immigration officier will ask for Passport and the brown sealed envelope. Is there anything else she should carry? What about X-ray reports? Please help?

i submitted two photos with the ds 230 of my wife, the still asked her to submit two passpoty size photos at interview so yeh take passport size pics. Better take it than not and be sorry
-
40 pics is too much. Just attach 4-5 pics. you can PIN those photos with your I-130 form. Remember, I 130 goes to uscis and uscis does not ask for pics. I attached just 4 pics and it was good enough. Later on when you submit AOS to NVC you may send them a few more pics. But to answer your questions, uscis and nvc does not ask for photos. They just collect the document, verify them and schedile interview. When you go for an actual interview that is when you will show them your photo album.

i got mine from nvc, after case completed in 2 weeks i was sent an email and was given a month later date for interview
Case completed - Sept 22 Interview appointment letter - Oct 4th Interview - Nov 20th

hiring lawyer won't help. They take time in sending papers versus you sending your paper asap when nvc requests. Only uscis stage takes time and once case is transfered to nvc it all depends on how fast you respond to their request of additional documents. Also CR-1 is a safe route to take if you're married becase K-3 now takes same amount of time

Few Tips
1. Whether you have intercourse with your wife or not is the matter between you and your wife. (Consular officer would not know about this until you tell them yourself which would be stupid to do so).
2. You must complete all rituals of a wedding i.e Shaadi, Rukhsati and Valima
3. Take bunch of photos at your wedding and after the wedding when you go out with your wife
4. Take a few photos of you and her with families and in family gathering
5. When you go back to states, send her money once in a while and keep the receipt to take to the interview as a evidence of on-going relationship
6. Buy credit on Raza, Callingo or Rebtel and call your wife and print out the call records for each month to take to interview as evidence
7. Lastly, Submit all paperwork in a professional manner and everytime you submit a document to USCIS and NVC, include a cover letter that lists all items you are submitting. Make sure you have Urdu, english nikka nama and mariage certificate and birth certificate and police certificate from all areas where your wife have lived for six months atleast. Also make New ID card of your wife that lists her as married and a new passport that has your name listed as husband.
These are all things i did for my wife and she got the VISA right away.

Doesn't really matter. In my case, we had NO child nor we went to honeymoon and we had very few pics together since i stayed only a week after getting married. The outcome was my wife got her VISA rightaway. As long all paperwork is submitted in a professional manner and interview goes well you're on the right track
-
This is absurd. They just want to give people hard time. However, you should have been prepared already for this. I had provided my wife with telephone calls records (most recent) and all money transfer receipt just in case CO asks her for on-going relation proof but she was lucky they did not ask for any of this; but, you should always be prepared for the worst. Calls record and money tranbsfer receipt are the strongest evidence. Even though my wife doesn't need money i still sent her some from time to time so that we have a proof and call records were always looked up onto and we had daily call logs to show.

If you and your dad share same house address, then You fill out I-864 and your dad fills out I-864A. Make sure you include your recent tax return, W2 and employement letter. Same goes for your dad, his recent tax return, W2 and employement letter. He must also include his recent paystubs it helps them determine his individual income because he probably files a joint tax return. Employement letter is optional but its a good back up that tells them you and your dad has a job and what you make and that you will be remain their employee.

CONGRATZZZZ!!!!!!!
My wife had interview yesterday (11/19) and they CO put my wife on AP. I was there with my wife and CO stated that all documents are completed and all is fine but still want to complete the admin process.
My wife informed me that another female was put on AP and was given atleast 3 months. There're many scenarios of why one has to face AP. Many people have been married before, also how strong is the petitioner and if the benificiary has any travel history.
In my case, i lived in US since i was 13, completed my education here and have a decent job (internship) but my joint sponsor was very strong in terms of her salary. Also my wife never traveled before out of country so that was in her favor.
I will write a brief review of her experience later today at Consulate Review section of this form

1. Make sure whatever income she is showing its above 18k but that also depends on the household size etc
2. What matter the most is what you are CURRENTLY making. Your past tax returns gives an idea of how well you were before financially. It gives them an overview of your financial background
3. You can combine her income with another household member and then have that member fill out I-864A as well. This way both will share liability

Meanwhile complete DS-3230, I-864 and DS-230 ready with all legal documents of benificary ready to go. Once you get to nvc stage and nvc handles they are fast in processing. My entire case Completed in 10 months from I-130 (1/27/2012) to Visa approved (11/20/2012) and i wasted 2 months getting police certificate so if you have it all ready you are good to go

Mine took 4.5 months so give it some time.
I think my wife is cheating on me.

The person who gave you this information, how well do you know and trust that person? if that person isn't lying then there is no point of going to US and seeing her and no need to work this out. Any men who has some self respect would never tolerate this type of behavior from his wife that she cheats behind his back.
Even if she tells you and says sorry, I would still not want to spend my life with someone who thought of other men behind my back.. leave her and move on..
