Today was the second time I have called NVC. Now it's only been 2 1/2 weeks since my petition was approved, and it's coming from CSC, so I don't REALLY expect it to be there yet. But, the first time I called, the NVC person didn't even look up the reciept number, she just said "you have to wait 8 weeks." Tonight, my second call, the lady on the phone had me read my approval notice and said "You can't call us. You have to call the consulate. National Visa Center doesn't handle K1 visas."

Say what?!

So, I told her that I do know many people applying for K1 visas, all of whom have had their cases sent to NVC. So then she changed her tune right away and said "Well, it hasn't been 8 weeks yet. You can call back then." I asked if she could at least check and she said "We don't have your case yet."

What is this all about, do they commonly just tell people misinformation to avoid having to do any work? True, the letter says it was forwarded to the listed consulate, but this is standard wording in NOA2 letters, isn't it? The email I recieved mentioned "post decision activity" and the NVC, and I know from everything on this site that NVC assigns them case #'s and forwards them on. Do I just keep calling and putting up with their nonsense? (and incredibly long hold times...32 minutes!)

NVC is simply just a "pass through point" for k-1's. They give you the longest possible wait time, because simply they can. Mine took about 4 weeks from NVC to embassy. Every Case is different.

my fiance called today and they said that our visa was sent to Abu Dhabi American Embassy just last October 4th, our NOA2 was dated September 12, 2013! so for those who didn't get it yet who have earlier NOA2 date call now! It might be your lucky day also:D

but now, i dunno what's next. haha!

i read that some their fiance had to pay something first but some said that packet 3 is next and we won't have to pay anything.

Also, you can pay the visa fee, but dont do that until you know they have your info. you can also wait until interview day to pay. easier to pay ahead of time. $240.00

I was given the vaccine shots during the medical and was asked to have the second shot a month after but I forgot about it. Will this have an implication on my POE? i already have my visa, I was just thinking if theyre gonna check the vaccine records and what are they gonna do if they found out I dint get my second dose of vaccine shots.

Nope, they dont want anything beside your visa,and medical packet. they will give you your record, KEEP IT and then have it done,

Somebody was talking about SS#, a second one wrote back a reply that other members didn't understand, so they explained kindly to that member that SS# = Social Security Number and anything else.

And several are trying to understand what else SS# can be in US. and also for immigration purpose.

K3 is obsolete and very rarely used. this again will not speed the processing of your I-130.

my husband was not asked about my 3 year old. Just be prepared for anything.

I recall Darnell not getting an expedite for his wife despite the fact he was needing knee surgery that has a prolonged recovery time. So the chances are VERY slim.

You can try, but it's not likely. Few have had super serious, life threatening situations and been denied an expedite. I have also heard lots of ladies having their babies, Hubby still waiting overseas being denied for an expedite.

Also, the doctor cannot call, you would have to do this yourself. Give it a shot, all they can say is no. Good Luck!

MENA ladies, got a quick question!

Do you guys think it would look weird in the eyes of a CO to start the K1 process, and have a large timespan from that last time the two people were together in person? I'm starting my senior year of my degree plus new job which is a lot harder than I expected, and M has a new job contract in Dubai. We just literally don't have the free time (more me than him) to meet again until mid/end of next year and that is cutting close to the 2yr mark. It seems like a lot of people file right after an in person meeting be it first, second, etc. Well...

I want to file around spring of next year once my divorce is finally finished(about time :/). It would have been a year since we've seen each other by then, will this look shady? Or will this maybe look better in that we have known each other longer? Plenty of ongoing relationship documentation between now and then by the way. I don't want to wait to visit again then file because I've heard with the same-sex filings now being allowed, the wait times are increasing. I should get in a trip to Dubai during the wait time though so more proof can be shown hopefully.

Hi, I didn't get mine either but you can retrieve either at the airport or thrue the homeland security page, so check first on the web page to see if you guys are lucky and she's registered there already, if not you have to go to the closest airport , i think it's immigration services offices. Get ready to wait a long time to get it though. Good luck!

ok .... yes i understand, that medical can NOT be done until he has his medical BLUE letter and packet 4!!! i was NOT ASKING ABOUT MEDICAL!!!! i was asking if he could go get his vaccianctions at any time he wanted........ from his regular doctor.
