  1. That's good to hear. Anyone else?? I called uscis. They said they can't tell me if I can write unknown. Then he told me to contact the state vital records. I ordered a search in a five year time frame. All said and done, the $15 search charged $47 on my credit card. She said I would have it in 2 days. I said I didn't need it expedited! She said, oh, then you would of had to order online. So expensive, just to find a date. Anyone else write "unknown"?

  2. I have the divorce decrees for 2 previous marriages. But I can't find the date I married my first x husband (long time ago). The county I was married in says they don't have any records of the marriage. The info isn't in the divorce papers. So I wrote unknown for the date married. Attached a statement from me that I can't find records for it. And I wrote unknown on both ex's birthdate. But I have the official divorce decrees stamped, filed, signed... For both. Isn't that what they are most interested in? Has anyone else wrote unknown on marriage date? Did it cause a problem or delay? On birthdate?

  3. Yeah, I took a look. The price is good. But on the flight they want you to call and book, how do you know how many stops there are? Or how long the layovers are? Some flights have up to 23 hour lay overs for the connecting flight. Because I was curious I went to cheapoair and checked on a one way out of Lagos. It said they dont support flights originating from the destination I chose. Humph. But it let me search for flights from here to there. I hope you get a good deal and it doesn't stop all over the world. I like St. Louis to Houston, short wait, then to Lagos. That's how I want him to fly here when the time finally comes. In reverse. Don't need him getting lost in some frankfurt or amsterdam airport or falling asleep and missing his connection. So, Gowon, have you decided to go over to Lagos or are you trying to book her flight out of there?

  4. My evidence for our relationship being ongoing doesn't rest in those chats. I have tons of cell records for our calls and texts, emails, 2 actual paper letters (wow! remember them? haha). But my phone and text records only go back 18 months. The chats and emails show the dates we first met (April 2010) so I think it's important to include them.

I want to say that everytime I have a question, no matter how trivial, all of you have been quick to respond and help me out with your opinions, advice, and experience. I am so appreciative of it. I want you to know how good it makes me feel to be a part of this community. I don't feel alone. Any time I can help with my own advice, I try to do so. Big thank you to everyone!!!

  5. I asked this in wrong forum (hazard of posting from my cell) tried to repost correctly but don't see it. Trying again...

I have a misdemeanor disturbing the peace from about 20 yrs ago and paid $100 fine. On the i-129f it asks about very specific crimes and I've never been charged or convicted of any of them. But I'm afraid if I don't disclose this other one that it will cause delays or a denial saying I tried to misrepresent. How do o get a copy of that conviction/my "criminal" background from so long ago? And how much will they be concerned about it? I'm the petitioner and us citizen.

  6. About 20 years ago I got a misdemeanor conviction of peace disturbance and paid $100 fine. I wasn't going to list it because on the I-129F it asks if you've been convicted of specific crimes and I haven't been charged or convicted of any of those things. But now I'm afraid if I don't list it that it could cause delays or they could deny us on misrepresentation. So how do I go about getting a copy of it / my "criminal" history? And how much emphasis will they put on it? I'm the petitioner. I'm the us citizen. Thanks.

Posted in wrong forum first time so reposting here. Sorry.

  7. Okay, so my I 129F package is just waiting on my fiance's forms to get here and I've begun working ahead... my affadavit of support. I've requested tax returns, getting copies of pay stubs, and I emailed the home office of my job. I explained to human resources what I'm doing and requested a letter on company letter head saying that I am an employee of blah blah and was hired blah blah and I make such amount an hour. I thanked her in advance for her time.

This is what she wrote back...

"We can complete an employment verification form for you, with your signature but we do not just draft this types of letters."

So I replied "Then I would like an employment verification form please."

She replied "We don't provide the form, they are provided by the agency requesting the information. If you simply need proof of employment, a pay stub should be sufficient."

Ugh. How do you deal with people like this? And she missed the part about company letter head. In fact, she missed everything. Suggestions?

  8. I hope I'm not abusing my posting priv. by posting so many new questions. But I'm learning so much here. Thanks everyone. I have an idea. I've been worried about mailing my original documents to my fiance in Lagos to take to the interview with him to back up the photo copies in my I 129F. Regarding documents such as my certified birth certificate and certified copy of my divorce, I ordered multiple certified copies in case they got lost in the mail so I would have them to mail out again. But I'm thinking, since I have multiples why not just include the original certified copy of my birth certificate and divorce with my I 129 instead of a photo copy? Because I know my file is going to be sent to Lagos. And I can also mail certified copies to my fiance. Everything I have ever mailed there takes weeks to get to him. There are some letters and cards he never received. I just think my documents will have a better chance of arriving there if USCIS sends them to Lagos included in my file. Your opinions?

  9. I have my at&t which they mailed me from the last 12 months. And will print previous 6 (it will only go back 18 months they said.) Shows incoming and outgoing calls and texts between the 2 numbers. I'm including the phone card too because it's on company letterhead with a cover letter from them and envelope. On at&t you can see after every short call from him I've dialed right back with my calling card number and on the calling card records it had his name and number. More is better than less.

Am now wondering how to show that the Nigerian number appearing a million times belongs to him since he buys minutes. He probably can tell me tomorrow.

  10. Is this too vague? We met online two and a half years ago when I contacted him on a social site.. Our friendship kept growing and a little over a year later we met face to face when I visited him and stayed with him at his apt in Nigeria from Jul 29 2010 til Sep 02 2010. We've remained in constant communication and are now filing for our petition. (is that enough or should I say my family likes him and I traveled with their blessings? Mention that when we started talking about marriage we both knew it was important that we met in person and spent time together before we made the commitment to one another?)

  11. I don't think both parties have to provide phone records as long as someone's phone records show incoming and out going calls between the two numbers. More experienced members can correct me if I'm wrong. My International calling card only shows my calls to Julius (886 in the last 18 months) BUT my AT&T usage shows all my calls and texts to his number and all his calls and texts to my number from his phone. It says sent or received. Pingo provided records free (23 pages of call history just to him). But AT&T charged me $5 a month. (I want to provide the envelope and cover letter from AT&T that comes with the records). Hope that helps. But don't just take my word. Listen to those who know for sure.
