Anyone have any insight on this question? Thanks!
-
It's really important that we both attend the interview for physical and moral support. We are hoping that the Rio consulate gets back to us soon and is willing to give us a new interview, even if it's a few weeks later.
What are the chances they do this? Has anyone ever been able to reschedule with a consulate in terms of an interview date?

My co-sponsor is willing to provide me with copies of all materials, but has requested that she magic marker out all of her account numbers.
Do you think the US consulate will be ok with this. Everything will be documented, the amounts, her name, address, and personal details, but for security reasons, she wants to block out the specific account information.
Is this "cool" in anyone's experience.
I can't be too demanding here and I understand what she's saying...but at the same time, I don't want them to be declared "invalid" if that's forbidden for some reason.
Anyone have any insight on this.
Thanks so much!

aws@ndd,
Thanks for your reply.
So is it safe to say that you could use almost anything you personally own, as long as it has some "value?" Interesting point about the car. I would assume that you could use a vehicle, even if you owned one and used it daily.

Perhaps it's a silly question, but what is the range of things that falls into the category of "personal property."
The I-134 form has a section that reads as follows:
"I have other personal property, the reasonable value of which is:"
So what kinds of things does this include?
Cars? Boats? Coin Collections? Clothing? Etc...
And what amount you list, how do you validate the value? Can you just list the amount off or do you need to justify the number through printed records?

For both myself and our co-sponsor....
How many years of income tax returns have you shown?
Two years? Three years?

Rio consulate only takes emails and they took several days to get back to us last time, so we've emailed them today and now have to wait, to see if they will switch the appointment or not....
in the meantime, I'm jamming on the docs to get them all ready for the interview....

We were given an interview date this morning on the day after Memorial Day (5/28). I literally have the entire week off starting with May 29th, but could not attend the interview in Rio with my partner (who lives in Rio) until 5/29...or after.
We have requested an interview change date of May 30 or 31st.
My question is this: how common is it for people to request interview changes? Is it considered a grave offense to ask for a new date?
My partner could of course attend, but the whole goal was for me to fly there to be with her for the interview....
I can't believe they gave us just three weeks notice. Consulate only accepts email, so we've written them back and are now waiting...
Just hoping that they don't sock us with a date a month later or something...happy that it's happening so soon, but gosh, the timing!

So i'm obsessive about all of this, and i'm sure i'm in good company around here
buttttt I just wanted to know from any Brazilian filers' experience; how long does it take for your case to get from the NVC to Rio? I just called the NVC, again, and they notified me that my case was mailed out last Wednesday, the 24th I emailed Rio Sunday night to see if they had received our case yet. They had not. How long does it take? Will they notify me via email? SHould I email and check with them again? I'm just trying to get that interview date even earlier than when my fiance receives his packet.
Any tips and tricks?? Thank you!!
Are you still waiting or you already have yr interview date?
I sent an email yesterday, but they didn't answer yet.

My case was sent last 24th too. I just mailed on Sunday and they said that received the case electronically but not the file. They should receive it end of Monday or tuesday, but as today is national holiday in Brazil I think they will sent it only next week.

As I'm preparing for our interview, which will hopefully be in June in Rio, I'm looking at the I-134 form and see no area for information on one's own personal debt. I am thinking here mainly of credit card debt and student loans. I have no credit card debt at all, but $25k in student loans.
Does this have to be reported? If so, how much of a "ding" is it on one's petition?
Thanks!

I've secured a financial sponsor for my fiancée and I.
How many tax statements do they need? Is it just the gross income that matters?
How much bank information?
What other type of documents are needed? Proof of real estate and its value? Trust fund? Any other income. Just photocopies of this proof.
What about stuff like cars? Loans? Credit Card bills?
My family is more than wiling to help me, but we're trying to figure out exactly everything that is needed.
Also, for Question number 11, what is the sponsor honestly does not intend to make specific contributions to my partner and I. Is it ok to check "do not intend," the idea being that we don't need assistance at the moment and don't foresee ourselves knowing it.
I guess that I'm looking for guidance as to how to get my sponsor to provide all the information that is needed...
Thanks so much. I know it's a big question! -

Thank you so much, everyone. Much appreciated!

My employer is more than happy to provide a letter, but both they and I are wondering about the formatting and structuring of the letter.
Obviously, it doesn't have to be super long, but who is the letter addressed to? USCIS? NVC? The local consulate where you are interviewing?
Thanks!

I-134 Form, Question 3, "affidavit is executed on behalf of the following person"
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
I know that this probably such a simple question, but my financial sponsor is filling this out tomorrow, and I want to make sure I got it right!
I am the American (petitioner). When I fill out the form, I am putting my foreign fiancée's name into the box at Question #3 ("Affidavit is executed on behalf of the following person"). That's obvious.
But when my financial sponsor fills out the duplicate form, does she enter my name or my fiancée's name into Question #3?
Is she sponsoring me (the American) or my future fiancée (beneficiary)?
This would then have an effect on the next bit: "Name of spouse or children accompanying or following to join person"
My foreign fiancée has no children, but is she the 'spouse' and I the one being sponsored...?
Pardon the stupid question, but I really want to make sure I'm clear on this.
A thousand thank-yous!
