  1. Ooph, that's far from Paris.

And oh, I thought you found out on that call that you could go on any Friday. My bad! blush.gif

Has DOS been any help this week?

They keep on telling us we are in AP. and they keep on telling me everybody goes into AP until the Visa gets issued. And here is what I found: (Further AP is not the same as the AP everybody gets right after the interview)

"Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a Consular Officer. Applicants are advised of this requirement when they apply. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Visa applicants are reminded to apply early for their visa, well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

Important Notice: Before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants or their representatives will need to wait at least 60 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

  2. Jeez, that's a major bummer :( But, there was one thing that came out of it: she can go to the embassy on any Friday. This might be a good lead. If she can get in and talk to someone, she might be able to find out what's going on. How close is she to Paris?

    400 KM away from Paris

she is working this week and when they need her. so this is some good news.

I just don't like the way the embassy told her "Congratulations, we will send out your Visa within 10 days"

this was on the 13th of December, so the 10 day mark would be the 23rd, so my wife asked if she then would have a chance of being with me during Christmas, and interviewer said no way. If I have to, I will fly out to Paris myself and petition everyday in front of the US Embassy until my wife gets her Visa!

PS. we already knew she could go there on any Friday, so the only information we got was a bill for 14 euros from her credit card company.

    .

  3. By any chance, was your wife born elsewhere (not in France)?

As for what questions to ask, your first should probably be where is the visa laughing.gif Give the date of your interview, tell them you were told you'd get it within 10 days, tell them how many days it's been. You may have to ask if you've been put into AP. If needed, tell them what DOS has told you. If the embassy does say you were put into AP, ask why. And be adamant until you know for certain. Get as much details as possible since it's going to be an expensive phone call.

My wife just called the Paris Embassy and they would NOT give us any information that we wanted. We just wasted $20. My wife wanted them to check the status of the case and they only told us to wait and that she can go the the Embassy in person on any Friday.

seems like a scam to me so they can make there $20. They never even asked for a case number or her name. She told them we had a case number, etc... but they just said to wait. And she asked them if we where in AP. But like I have been saying, the Embassy did not give any information to the status of our case.

PS. My wife is not living in Paris and is no longer working, she had to put in a 3 month notice. And she will have to find another place to stay at the end of the month.

Yes, she is a Romanian Citizen and has been working in France for the last 2 years.

I guess this might have something to do with the delay because she is not a French Citizen?

  5. I've never heard that before. And I've never heard of "AAP". Here on VJ, it's just AP: additional/administrative processing. The reasons for being put into AP vary: background checks, red flags, additional documents are needed, etc.

Remember, like with NVC operators, don't just rely on ONE operator's answer. You need to call many times and take the majority answer (and even then, it could be wrong).

It might be worth it if you call up the embassy directly and inquire. Or, just keep waiting.

yes I know, it's a joke. You must be right because I just called the NVC and this operator told me that you are NOT automatically put into AP right after the interview. The DOS is closed right now so back to the old waiting game. The interview went really well: no additional documents where asked for during the interview, not even the new documents of updated information that my spouse had with her. And towards the end of the interview they told my wife she was approved and will have the Visa within 10 days(it's been over 21 days so far). So we will pay the $20 and call the embassy. I was thinking Tuesday next week would be the best day?

Saylin, What questions do I need to ask when I call the US Embassy in Paris? thanks so much.

(and if I call the DOS many times on Monday and they keep saying we are in AP, I wonder if the Embassy can confirm this and maybe tell us why we are in AP?)

  6. If you're in AP, then yes, you're put into it after the interview. Did the DOS say why you were put into AP? Hopefully it doesn't take long regardless...

I was told by a few DOS operators that EVERYBODY get put into AP after the interview until the visa gets issued.

I just called again and was told this is normal and does not mean anything has gone wrong, etc... I guess if you are put into AAP (additional admintrative proccesing) then you may have a long delay?

does this make any sense to you Saylin? thanks!

PS. The DOS says there is no specific reason why we where put into AP except to say that this is normal for everybody.

    .

  7. Skip calling the embassy (for now), and just call DOS tomorrow once they open (they closed at 5pm today). Their number and hours are on the first post. It's free to call them and they could be just as useful. Report back tomorrow what they say (hopefully something good).

Saylin: I called the DOS before they closed yesterday. They told me to call next week because they don't have any new information yet.

But I guess this is normal at this time of year to expect a delay?

If you do a search on Google with "wheres my visa", the first hit is a thread from Visa Journey!

The quote bellow is from a VJ member who's fiance had an interview in Paris around the same time of year as my spouse.

    "Posted 20 January 2012 - 11:08 AM

Hi - my fiancé had his interview on 12/15/11. Like you, he was approved on the spot and told he could expect his Visa in about a week via Chronopost. We also began to worry when 2 wks later he still hadn't received it. And like you, no tracking number was showing. On the 15th day, he called the embassy and found out that apparently, no Visas get sent out during the Christmas/New Year season. Nice of them NOT to mention that when he was there!!! So, my advice is that you contact them. The embassy in Paris charges about 14 Euros for calling with questions, but for the peace of mind, it was totally worth it. Good luck!!! (P.S. The Visa arrived 3 days later.)"

  8. Some Good News, and some Bad News!

well the good news is: The Dec 13th Interview in Paris, France was approved for the Visa! (no additional documents where asked for)

we where told to expect the Passport with the new Visa to be delivered by Chronopost within 10 days.

It has been over 20 days so far and nothing, and no tracking information yet! So should we call the Paris Embassy at this time or wait it out?

they want $20 per phone call at the Paris Embassy so maybe I should give it some more time?

  9. Hehehehe, to me it's just plain frustrating when my search shows ZERO packages while somebody found 20 of them

So, like you, I'll just wait for somebody who has more luck or knowledge, and if I see a package heading to Poland I will call NVC to confirm if it's mine.

Ahhhhhh, stress and loneliness are almost over :dancing:

    :wow:

  10. Dont need interview! Husband will be here at the end of November!!! Things have a way of working themselves out!!!!

    great news

Damed if you do damed if you dont. People want to know and when they do negativity still comes out. The world in which we live in me keep moving on. People are happy about there own situations. This is the way life is. Other things happen for others and I either support with positiveness or keep quiet. Stay focused. Everyone is happy about the person they are with for their own personal reasons. I may not agree with your reasons but who am I to judge. Remember only God can Judge.

And a Judge can Judge

  11. Health means more than anything.

    so hang in there!

I say by next week you will here the news.

    Thanks, A&S -- don't feel guilty. It's no one but NVC's fault.

I'm going to come out with it. I've hid it for a week or two now.

I requested an interview expedite based on severe mental health distress due to this prolonged wait and the 17 months I've already been separated from my husband due to his being in immigration jail and back home in El Salvador. It was sent to NVC on 10/25, along with an official letter from my therapist, stating the problem at hand and her prognosis if I'm not scheduled. NVC forwarded it to the embassy on 10/26.

I still have not heard anything.

This is so frustrating and maddening that no one happened to notice that 1000 cases were sitting, collecting dust. I'm racking my brain, trying to think of lessons the universe or God wants me to learn before we're given a date, or what I need to do to get one and it's killing me inside. I've been okay lately. At first I was depressed, like verge of suicide depressed (I wish I was kidding). And now I'm just angry. Like fuming mad, fire is coming out of my nostrils angry. This is unacceptable. I am an AMERICAN CITIZEN and I DESERVE to be treated better than this.

But, where do I go? What do I do? Who can I even turn to?? At the end of the day, NVC doesn't give a ######, nor does the embassy. They all get to go home to their families at night. But me? I go home to my 13 month old daughter. The one who has only met her dad twice in her short life. I go home, feed her, clean her, put her to sleep. I get up the next morning and work a full time job, five days a week, to support myself and her and my husband, in El Salvador. I have done this for 17 months (Well, with her only for 13 months). I'm hanging by a f***ing thread here. I don't have answers and I have no advocate. What can I do?
