Do keep us posted. Best of luck!

Interesting response bigdog, thanks.
I just assumed AR is done at the embassy level (when the CO has requested more documents) & AP is done in Washington for the security/name checks. But after talking to the people at the DOS they just say "pending AP" so I guess they mean the same thing.
I certainly liked my definitions more, AP sounds scarier
-
I don't mean to freak you out or anything but the sooner you send in those additional documents the better. At my interview (which was October 31) I was asked to submit additional paperwork & even though the embassy received the documents 5 days after my interview I still didn't get my visa. My husband & I have been following up with the Dept of State & all they keep telling us is that my application is pending AP. The only extra information the visa specialist gave my husband was that since it's been 2 weeks & the embassy hasn't requested anything else we should take that as a good sign.
So my thoughts to you guys would be to send in that fingerprint clearance asap & to follow up with DOS.
Good luck to you

But as far as I remember her phone number should be listed on the application under her biographic info if I am not mistaken, so they should have it.
Also have them call the Dept of State to know what's going on with their case.

I'm so sorry this happened, I know the waiting game is a nightmare. You can call the DOS to get updates on your case. I hope you get to talk to Matt he's a really nice guy lol.
The phone number is 202-663-1225 (press 1 than 0 to talk to a visa specialist)
They work from Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m until 5 pm EST. On Wednesdays they don't take calls from 11 a.m to 12 p.m
Good luck

I think AP starts after the embassy receives the additional documents. You should call DOS regularly to follow up.
Good luck.

I am sorry you're going through this. I know how it feels because my husband & I are going through a similar situation. Waiting is hard but there really isn't a whole lot we can do about it.
The Embassy had received the required documents from my husband 5 days after my interview but when I emailed them a week later to ask about my case they basically didn't say anything about receiving the paperwork. One of the members I had asked here suggested I call the Department of State or DOS for short. After asking for my case number, name & date of birth the visa specialist told me that, "Yes ma'am the documents you sent in have been received and are being reviewed". So calling DOS is your best chance to know what's really going on.
The number is 202-663-1225 (press 1 then 0 to speak with a visa specialist).
Good luck to you

Just wanted to say congratulations! After reading your first couple of posts I thought your dilemma was going to be a serious problem but I'm glad it all worked out in the end. Congrats again

If my tax transcripts doesn't reflect enough income from last year but my current check stubs do will i need a Co Sponsor for my husband?
It's a possibility. You might want to look now for someone who is willing to be a joint sponsor for your husband just in case it comes up at the NVC stage or worse at the interview.
Good luck to you

Believe me many of us have been there my dear. We get it! On the night of my husbands interview at the American Embassy in Cairo I had loads of support from friends on here and else where that joined VJ just to come wish support. We all met up in the chat room feature to talk in real time and they offered best wishes and kept me company. Looking back it really meant a lot and still does. Since you're the one going through the interview I hope you have a way to communicate with your loved one to share the news immediately because I'm sure he'll be waiting to hear from you. I'm also sure it will be good news and you have nothing to fear. From what I've seen females have a much easier time than the men do and are approved and go through the process more rapidly than men. Some of the females from VJ MENA that have been through it like yourself can also testify to that. You'll be here in no time and with your husband starting your life and working on your USMLE Steps and starting a family. I'll be there with you in spirit and remember there is help there if you ever need it or a sympathetic ear from a female doctor whose been here. All you need to do it call. KWIM?
Big hugs Sis!
Thanks hun! Yes I KWYouM, completely forgot about it too lol! The things this process does to ones brain is unbelievable! The waiting is almost over. Thanks again for the kinds words & your constant support. You've been such a wonderful help

Thank you so much O! You won't believe how nervous I am! Trying my best to stay positive
-
Thank you Ihavequestions. They finally got back to me via email. The rooms on their website look very nice so I hope realistically they're just as good looking because their rates aren't bad at all. I'm concerned because my father is accompanying me on this trip (if he wasn't I really wouldn't care) & I don't want it to be a total disaster. :/

Hello all! I was just wondering if anyone in Cairo knows if the Juliana Hotel in Garden City is functioning? I've been trying to contact them with no such luck. Also if anyone knows other hotels in the Garden City area (other than the ones listed in the Embassy info section of VJ) I would greatly appreciate it.

Congrats Mr. Borkstrom! So happy your long wait is finally over & you can be reunited with your loved one

Cairo sees people from Sudan for visa interviews. At least the region she's in does. I've seen it before on their interview schedule several years back and spoken with her.
Thanks for clarifying I bet people are always going to be confused about this.
-
I would imagine they go to the top of the queue to be rescheduled... but the embassy would not move peoples dates that are already set.. So if they book several months in advance new appointments would be scheduled starting there but probably nothing until they reopen and know that the dates would be open.
Well that sounds comforting since by the time its my interview (& hoping that nothing else causes a reason for alarm) things should have cooled down. The process is frustrating enough without having such things happen. Here's to wishing this madness doesn't continue for long & thanks for the response...you too Dr A <3 O
ETA: So I assune NVC would notify the applicants that the interview will be moved & to wait until another date is scheduled?
-
Also what happens to people that have their interviews scheduled during the time the embassy is closed?
-
Great another thing to worry about. Hoping the situation there calms down even further & the Embassy reopens. I just got my interview date a few days ago...this couldn't have happened at a worse time.
Please keep us posted as to whether or not the embassy opens.

YOU MEAN YOU HAVE AN INTERVIEW IN SUDAN, DESPITE THE US EMBASSY ATTACK?
Immigrant Visa's for Sudanese applicant's go through Egypt not Sudan. My interview is in Cairo.
-
I called up the clinic today to set up an appointment for my medical exam & when the receptionist heard my interview was October 31st she told me to come in during the 1st week of October. Is there a validity deadline for the medical or what? My husband keeps saying it's only valid for 3 months but he also isn't sure so I thought of asking here.
I wanted to get the medical out of my way now because I will have to do another police clearance & then make travel arrangements I don't want to be doing everything at the same time!
-
October seems to be the month for us all! Congratulations to those of you that received their appointment letters
-
My case was completed on September 12 and I got my appointment letter via email last night. The date is set for Oct. 22.
Our timelines are almost the same! Congratulations! I also received my appointment letter September 13th. Interview is October 31st in Cairo. Good luck to you

If they don't know how long AP will take why do they keep telling us to expect something in 2 weeks?! All I do now is check my calendar & count off the days, that's not healthy!
EvaMilly I think your best chance is the DOS. When I emailed the embassy in Cairo to get some sort of update, the response I got from them was beyond vague & didn't address anything I had asked. Maybe down in the DR they're better.
