  1. Awesome, I get front seat play-by-play! I'm excited today because I found out my AOS was accepted, I can't imagine what you guys are feeling with him there already!

I have read about some of the hotels offering free shuttle services to the clinics and consulate. With the proximity of everything has he taken advantage of it or is it not really worth bothering with? I'm also curious about the warnings that people try to pass themselves off as consulate officials to rip you off outside the gates. Any encounters so far with these ne'er-do-wells?

Thanks for the update, you don't know how comforting it is to be able to follow your process as it unfolds. We will be thinking of you guys this week, hoping all goes flawlessly!

It's pretty exciting! But each step of the NVC process is exciting too!

Hey everybody call nvc on monday and they said i need to send my civil documents and i told them that i sent them on sep 12 and finally a nice operator said they are going to transfer my case with a supervisor finally i hope they closed my case this week!!!

Sorry that it's taking so long for you! I hope you get your case closed this week too!

  2. Hey have you gotten your case complete yet?

Here's my update on my hubby's medical:

All that you need to take to the medical is your passport and appointment letter.

He's at one of the farthest hotels from the consulate (still only about a mile away). I'll let you know where he went once he gets home (you never know what creepers are reading on the internet).

I probably should have put him in the Quality Inn or something nicer, because he says it's kinda blah but definitely not bad. There's a pool he's gonna try, and they have free transportation to the consulate or anywhere close by. But he said that on the way home he walked instead of taking a taxi. Oh and there's free wireless in the rooms! :)The area is really fresa and nice.

And many of the CDJ experiences have said that but you should still be very careful when you're there.

The medical went well, he got 4 vaccines, the whole medical cost 5400 pesos. I'll tell more about it when I can!

It went well but it takes a long time because they make you wait to give you your number to "officially wait" with your number. (he sent me a message that he was at the consulate at 8:30.) Then x rays where you take off your shirt and they put you in a room and then they take you to another room to get blood drawn, and then you go to the eye exam and after that to another room with a doctor and they check everything (and you have to take all your clothes off). And then after all that they send you to another place to give vaccines and wait to see how you react to them, and after that if you don't feel bad they send you to pay.

My poor baby got 4 vaccines plus his blood drawn, but let's just say I'm glad it was him and not me because I absolutely hate needles and he's not afraid of them at all. And the doctors weren't exactly nice or mean but at least he asked the doctor to tell him what he had (he's been feeling sick lately) and luckily he didn't have an infection and the doctor could tell him to just take some tylenol and he'll be fine so I was glad about that!

the overall cost was 5400 pesos. He went back at 2 and I'm not sure what time he actually got the results but I'm guessing he got them fairly quickly, because by 5 he had already eaten and was hanging out. Anyway, that's our update! Can't wait until Friday!!!!!!!

Tomorrow the ASC appointment should be quick and easy.

  3. Hola Chicos! My hubby's interview is in two weeks and I have questions about the medical....does anyone know if you can get one or more of the vaccines before you go so that you don't have to pay "un ojo de la cara" when you get there?

Where my hubby lives he can get vaccines for free, but how can I find out which ones he needs and if they will "count" when he has his medical exam.

He has no immunization records or anything! So even something simple may be a big help.

What were your experiences with the medical?

Thank you so much for any answers that you have!

  4. Amenspanglish, how long did it take you from Case Complete to be notified that your interview was scheduled? I'm currently waiting to be notified and it has been a week since I recieved my case complete notice.

You can see by my signature that it took almost a month! Although I think it's a good thing because even the 3 week wait seems to be taking forever. But Some people receive theirs sooner.

I've been wondering about this, did you schedule it for Juarez or locally? I'm thinking it would be so much easier to have my husband take care of his ASC in Guadalajara and then show up in Juarez with one less thing to worry about, but don't know if doing it that way could cause some unexpected hassles.

I'm curious to see which way you guys went, please share!

We didn't have the luxury of having an ASC place nearby, so I scheduled it in Juarez. If I were him I would do it in my hometown and have one less thing to worry about! :)

  5. Ok, I called about mailing the AOS package and they said that I can't e-mail it, it has to be mailed because it is for a parent not a spouse. NVC has became so confusing in the last 3 year, there are so many different processes for different countries, etc.

PS they have reviewed the Choice of Agent and I should be assigned the IV fee shortly.

Ooooh that does make things different! Yeah, if your case number isn't MEP something, then yeah, it's not electronic processing.
