  1. Everyone here answers the way they do because they all a "remember so and so???" story. I doubt there is a person that comes here thinking there is something wrong with their relationship. It would be absurd.

My advice and thoughts comes not from this forum, just because I have a group of friends who are intercultural marriages, and a number of them re/con-verts. If you already covered all the bases that I mentioned then you are off to a great start. These are all things that I know have been concerns and sometimes problems for them.

You really don't want to run off from this forum. It is a really invaluable resource. Take the good. Leave the bad, and assume most of us have the best of intentions.

  2. There's a HUGE CRUCIAL difference: He married you in the US and RETURNED to Egypt soon thereafter. It shows genuine intent to marry and not to migrate. Plus, you work and you share the same religion, right? Your case is absolutely different.

Mine is quite different, but no I don't work. I am full time in nursing school, but I am much older. I have my parents to sponsor, and if worse came to worse I graduate at the end of summer. (isA) I do share the same religion. But ;) this isn't about me.

I am not giving my support nor telling the OP to run for the hills. She's married him. She loves this guy. I'm merely suggesting to take time. I did for a few reasons, and my case is a bit more solid, though not without obstacles. Go visit. Build up evidence.

Learn! How do you resolve disputes with him? Who pays what bills? Do you work or do you stay home? Are you allowed to go keeping going to school? Who's going to support the both of you there when(if) he can't find a job? How many kids will you guys have? Are you okay with your children being raised Muslim? Will he expect your girl children to cover Islamically? Is there any chance he might want you to wear a veil whether Muslim or not? Are you allowed to go out alone during the day or night? With his permission or on your own? Are you allowed to have guy friends (if you have them)? If you are thinking of converting to Islam-- how will you view your husband after you revert? A few women I have met online have converted and then wanted to be practicing the religion and find their husband really doesn't practice. Are you okay if he should have more than one wife? This is a part of the religion. Always keep in mind, whatever he says, this is still a possibility for him to have more than one.

I could go on-- these are just a few of those thoughts I'd be considering if you haven't. Hope it helps in some way with your journey. I want the best for you guys whatever that is.

  3. Hey :) Thank you for your nice wish .. I hope it goes fast isA! I am trying to get the NVC stage expedited so my husband can be with me when I am giving birth! I hope your case gets completed soon and you get a soon interview date!

Again, thanks for welcoming me! I wish you all the best!

*Prayers* Alf Mabrook/Congrats! and I need to start baking an Egyptian American baby. :D

  4. Look, everyone has pointed out some things that may or may not be issues. Only you can sort that out for yourself. Go into things with your eyes wide open. Be a little suspicious. Ask the questions openly to yourself that others have given you here, and consider the answers. Understand problematic behaviors and subtle clues that may not stand out at first.

Now assuming everything is good on your end, and since you are already married-- lets look to the next step.

I130-- I'm not saying its good for everyone, but I got by on 2 affidavits from a family member, friend, and some pictures from our Nikah and with my family-- less than 10. (I never realized just how lucky we are to have that 5 year B2/visitor approved)I married my husband the 2nd day he was in town on our first visit.

When my NOA2 arrived 3 months later, I was like... ZOMG!! I expected it to take a little longer. I have taken my time through the NVC stage. He has 2 visits here and I have been there once in the last year. I still don't have hard marriage evidences like bank accounts and land, or insurance, but I have now plenty of evidence of an ongoing relationship between him, and me, and our families. My focus is on the interview.

    My advice-- take your time.

  5. Hey guys :) I am new to this topic :D I got NOA2 on 2/15 :D I am waiting for NVC to get my papers :) I want to rush the NVC process since I am pregnant and I am due on June 5th!! I am really wishing my hubby will attend his daughter's birth :D I have everything signed and ready! btw, do any of you know how do you expedite your case at NVC or even get an early interview date at the embassy? I am gathering evidence for the request now... Any advice would help ;) Thanks guys!

Welcome to another consulate sister! IsA it goes quickly for us. I should have case complete next week isA

  6. Called the NVC, a very nice gentleman answered the phone and told me that I should allow at least a week... my documents were received on tuesday and he told me they were routed to be reviewed...he said it usually takes 15 days for EP cases. Hopefully next week sometime I will have a case complete! Plz no checklistssss NVC!!

Now why can't all the operators be this nice and give you some useful information?!

He must be a new guy, lol, or maybe had a real fortunate day. Either way, that's a relief.

  7. We are sending out our AOS package tomorrow and have been obsessing over whether or not I've included everything I needed to. Thanks to Saylin, whose info has been invaluable, I think we're good. So now I am obsessing over our IV package, though we haven't even had our DS-3032 accepted yet (sent it Monday). As I'm reviewing the necessary documents for the IV (over and over and OVER again), I keep coming back to the same question: should I include a certified copy of MY divorce decree, just to be on the safe side? I am the USC and was married once before I met my husband. He has never been married before. I'm just way overthinking things (as I tend to do), and am terrified that we are going to get an RFE for it. I'd love to have case closed by the beginning of March and would LOVE an April interview! Thanks in advance for the input!

They did not ask for mine. It only ask for the beneficiary's. I sent my husband a copy of mine to take to the interview, but no need to over complicate things by sending something un-needed.

  8. Speaking of hating weekends...

My missing document, the one I've been waiting months to get my hands on, that is holding up my case complete, has made it stateside.... Now the weekend limbo until the mail service picks up! Boo for weekends :bonk:

At the same time, I'm elated it is getting so much closer. February is my month!! (insha'Allah)

Thank you all for letting me ramble my trivialities!

  9. If your faith and trust is in God, believe for that He only brings what is best for you although we can't see it right away.

I had a bad apple too-- a 10 year nightmare. Then I woke up... I considered that maybe I wasn't as horrible as I was told I was. Then I realized there also a whole whole lot of men in the world that are really great guys, and many who will forgive a few personality flaws. We all have them after all.

Here's to new beginnings, and making the best out of bad situations!

  10. I'm not sure how its going to go in a then interview for us either, but I too was married when I first 'met' my husband online. I threw in a couple evidences that show we know each other from way back, just to show how we met. I and my husband are prepared to explain the strange and complicated nature of how we became engaged, then married. Our main evidence is current stuff and we have plenty to back up.

Truth is stranger than fiction! It will take a nice long interview to explain how we got from gamers, to husband and wife.

God-willing, things will work out for the best, for you, and for us.

  11. I don't think I have anything new to add but just incase this is valuable-- I just wanted to say that my marriage certificate, the Islamic contract done in the US was acceptable as proof of marriage at Egyptian military installations. We had to have proof to be able to stay in a hotel together. We have nothing registered in Egypt, just our legal US marriage cert. and religious certificate.

  12. LOL the box weighed 20 lbs and cost $156 to ship from Houston to NVC priority FedEx.

The photobooks was going to be at interview but as each month went by my evidence grew and so did my patience.

The photobooks aren't even of us. I made a book called "Missing you" everything my husband has miSsed these 3 years apart. Got the idea when I was reading a letter from my dad to my mom when he was in Vietnam over a year and that's what she did.

I wanted to show some humanness show the CO this is what we miss being apart the birthdays, new people first day on job, new car.

The other is my husbands artwork all neatly crafted and diplayed in the book. Wanted to show this just isn't some average Nigerian guy. Trying to tug at their hearts.

I just want case complete an a interview cuz this evidence is piling up. My husband will need a airlift to take this stuff in. And watch them not ask for a thing. I can't imagine them asking for anything at all.

Especially by the time of interview I will have been there a few months visiting. More pics. Hehe ;)

I need a fainting smilie... And that picture was perfect. Its exactly how I imagine the NVC person's face. I hope someone in NVC is appreciating all your hardwork.

I decided also, to really make our case-- throw a few pages in of screenshots from the video game we met in, and some pages of screenshots from skype video and even took some screen shots from the guild forum (yeah yeah peeps-- I know we're nerds). I don't have much to record our early friendship since it was all in a digital world.

The more I can do and the less hubby has to organize the better. :bonk: He doesn't spend nearly enough time on VJ!

    Here's to one day closer...

  13. That's my happy NVC supervisor looking at my

900 pages of extra evidence submitted with DS-230

    96 page Shutterfly photobook

    31 page Shutterfly photobook

    219 resent initial I-130 petition

Hello Supervisor Gus come monday I wanna hear CASE COMPLETE.

Thank u kazulie hehe youda best.

OMG LOL, what a laugh!! You shipped a whole box. :bonk:

Dwheels-- you inspired me and I spent 5 hours crafting a 22pg digital scrapbook/photobook. Now I know how you filled up your time between June and now. I can't imagine how long 90+ pages took. I even have the barcode on the front :D

Since I got a checklist I'm going to send in the book with the form...
