  1. Unfortunately, the consulates around Iran generally won't allow several people going to the interview with only one appointment. You have to make an appointment for each of them individually. And as you are probably aware of the frustrating process of scheduling an appointment for Iranians, the possibility of getting the appointments for the same slot is low (but possible). However, this varies for each consulate. You have to check with them to see whether they allow it or not(most of them answer their emails in 2-3 business days). I'm sure you know that most of the travel agencies in Iran will schedule appointments for a fee and most of the time they manage to schedule them for the same time. But since their prices for this service are really unfair, I would recommend doing it on your own. The best thing you can do is emailing the consulates and see what they can do for you. But if you read their websites, they clearly indicate that you have to make separate appointments for each of them.

  2. The process is quite straight forward. They blindfold a member of their staff, they go into the storage office and grab 3 random boxes. The contents of the boxes are then tipped out into one pile, which is then shuffled a little. All staff have to pick a handful of petitions from this pile blindfolded, they then have to find their way to a desk. Once at a desk they can removed the blindfold and start processing what they have.

It's difficult for some as they even miss a lunch break while trying to find an unoccupied desk. I think they should introduce a rule that if they've not got a desk in a couple of hours they should be able to remove the blindfold. Any petitions not complete at the end of the day are randomly put back on the pile.

At the end of the week very little is approved on Friday. This is because they're putting the petitions they haven't yet done back in boxes for storage over the weekend. Then Monday they repeat the above.

I hope this helps, it's the only way I can imagine they do it :P:rofl:

OMG, laughing my a** off

  3. Thanks everyone for your encouragements ;)

Kennard and all my friends who are still waiting for their NOA2:

I know that how seeing an ***hole like me grumbling about how unhappy I am with our October 14 interview, could be really annoying. You're all right! I should be more than happy that our journey is finally coming to an end and not forget that instead, I could have also been waiting like many of you for the NOA2. I know how hard it is seeing people with later NOA1 dates getting approved well ahead of you :( trust me, I know! In fact, I can say that all of us know! Unfortunately, this is all because of this unfair system of immigration (if there is any at all) and there is nothing we can do about it. Everyday that I check Jan and Feb forums, I really feel guilty about being approved sooner than people who applied before me, I really do :( You're right Kennard, I should be thankful that we now have a date and can finally start preparing for our other plans now. I'm really sorry guys, but truly happy to have such a good friends that will support you all the time, despite having their own problems  please forgive me my friends

Love you all and wish strength for all you my friends (F)

  4. Although it's easy to think about how many months we've been waiting, I kinda found peace lately by thinking that it won't take more than a month now to get our NOA2.

I know that I'll be with my Kim in October/November and that all waiting will be over. I really like that prospect: in 3 months from now, we'll be together for e ver!!

Just finished the wedding registry the other day and my fiancee is gonna go view some houses this Friday. Also we've been lucky to have a very flexible venue that was willing to move our wedding to several other dates with a 30 days notice. Not getting married on October 6th is a bummer but the knowledge that we're way over half of the waiting time is really comforting. Also to think about all the blessings we've received from God last year... I think this goes for all of you. How big was the chance you met your soulmate? I mean, it's astronomically small!!!

My fiancee came to the Netherlands to work in a Christian Youth Hostel where my brother used to be one of the managers. Every now and then I would visit him there, because of the nice atmosphere in that hostel. When Kim and I met, there were no big sparks but we started to hang out on a friendly basis. I was planning a trip to the States when she said: 'If you're in the States anyway, you should come visit me and I'll show you Virginia'. Little did she know that I took her invitation serious. A couple of days before I flew over to her I got an abbess in my throat which kinda purged my wallet and so I didn't have the money to fly over to DC but a friend of mine heard it and paid my ticket. The moment I arrived the sparks of love flew around us and we knew that we wanted to be together forever.

If I think about how different this story could go! What if she never came to work in the Netherlands? What if I never visited my brother? What if she never jokingly invited me? What if my friend didn't pay for the ticket? Not to mention that the chances two people like each other at the same time is already a slim chance. I reckon all of you have similar love stories with slim chances of success, yet you are all engaged. Yes, I do believe God has something to do with our story. Even if you don't believe in God, finding our soulmate abroad is a spectacular miracle!

I just feel this rest over me now. Like the end is neigh and all of us feb filers will come back to this forum to hear about our wedding process.

You guys are still in our daily prayers and most of all we pray for a reduction of anxiety. I feel a special connection with all of you and I'm excited to see the first wedding photo posted!!

    Also, congrats for the approvals!!

You know, every now and then, my fiancee feels really empty about this whole immigration process and being apart from each other. I know that as a man, in fact as her man, I "should" support her in these moments and give her the strength to continue this road we're on. But who doesn't know that I too have all those feelings :( I do miss her too :( my life is a long story but to make it short, I was living for a few years in Iran. We were in a relationship for 6 years!!! It sure wasn't love at first sight for us too, but eventually it became love at all sights :D we were together ALL THE TIME, EVERY WHERE. But then I moved back here, in order to resume my life and arrange everything after this long time for bringing her over. I had to show myself that I can be the man she deserves. I had to prove it that I can start my life again here. So, when I had everything sorted out, I took a short trip back to Iran and we got engaged  and now, after 7 months of filing the petition, I am literally crying every night because I don't know how long can I take it :( Of course, I am always giving her positive vibes and telling her how everything will be finished in just a couple of months, 1,2, or 3 maybe. But one thing I know for sure is that after that, we are going to be together ALL THE TIME, EVERY WHERE, again, and this time for the rest of our lives !!! I can't even say the feeling in words!!!

Anyhow, I guess my point is, you're right, we all have a story. We are all apart from our loved ones, but this shouldn't stop us from loving each other. We have to be strong  for most of us, being together is not that far away...the key is being together, loving each other, no matter how far we are now. I do believe in God, I do pray everyday for this journey come to an end, but you're right! It doesn't matter if you believe in God or not, what matters is that you believe in each other and the journey you just have started, the life that you are going to have together, and the love that is between you (L) (L) (L)

  5. Thanks ;) It was indeed  I was so right when I had told my mom that I had to get me a new phone (it is my mean of communication with my fiance and immigration. I don't regret buying it ASAP :)

btw I meant to ask you a question.I noted that it took a couple of weeks for NVC to get your papers from USCIS. Was it a mistake on their part or is it their processing times nowadays (instead of the week timeframe that I've previously heard of)?

No, you don't have to worry at all ;) It wasn't a mistake for us! CSC might be faster than VSC on approving the petitions, but they are really slow on the next part, which is sending the approved petitions to the NVC. Yours will probably take about a week or maximum two to go to NVC ;)

  6. 7/27/2012 - NVC sent to Embassy it was delivered yesterday.

Maybe I am just being impatient. But it doesn't feel good when you call NVC and ask about this letter and they say "What Letter?". headbonk.gifwacko.gif

Scanning to PDF is not a problem, I can do it at work. This is some journey all right... wow.

I am really sorry for not understanding your initial post :bonk: I guess my fiancee is right! I can't concentrate on two things at the same time:( I shouldn't check VJ from work :bonk: sorry for all the misunderstanding :(

You will get that letter, as kate&javi mentioned, it arrives about a week after the embassy receiving your application. You are not impatient and it is completely natural if you want to do the rest of the paperwork sooner and be ready and prepared for your interview ;) after all we are all the same and completely understand the feeling of being apart for this long :(

again, I am REALLY sorry for my misunderstanding :(

  7. So I have some news.....

WE ARE APPPPPROVEEEEEEDDDDD TODAY!!!! welll yesterday, they sent the email today though!!! FINALLY AFTER GETTING A RFE AND EVERYTHING!!! I hope everyone gets approved this week so we can talk about NVC together!!!!!

YESSS SO HAPPY THANKS EVERYONE FOR STAYING WITH US!!!

WOW!!! That was a quick RFE approval  I'm really happy to see that the RFE didn't waste that much of your time ;) CONGRATULATIONS

  8. I would love to if I ever receive this letter. Thats just a copy someone sent to me so I could read it.

Does this letter have a formal name, something I can ask specifically about?

When I call NVC and ask, try to describe it they act like they have no idea what this is.

What do you mean a copy someone sent you?! Wasn't the name and the address of NVC (United States Department of State-National Visa Center) typed in blue on the envelope? It is a single page letter. It may not have the official-appearance of the NOA1 and NOA2, but I am sure this is the letter you are looking for. I don't know what they want for police records (since there is no such a thing in my fiancee's country), but I am sure this letter is what they want. At least, it has ALL the necessary information on it: Your name and address, beneficiary's name, your USCIS receipt number, your DOS case number, the address of the consulate and the fact that the petition has been approved. I think you are fine ;)

  9. Anyone know the name of this letter? It comes from the NVC, supposedly after you get NOA2. It is mailed to the Petitioner. It has your case number and some bar codes. I have been trying to call the NVC and ask if they can send me a PDF copy to my email. My fiancee needs this letter to start police certificate.

But they say I am not supposed to get this letter or don't know what I'm talking about. Thanks!

I have received it too. Actually, everyone receives it, once their case processed in NVC. I don't know why they are telling you that you are not supposed to get this!!! Anyhow, why do you need a PDF version?! Can't you just simply scan it and email it to her?

  10. I just got this forwarded email from my congressman's office:

"The I129F petition was approved today 7/31/12. An approval notice will be mailed to the petitioner's address of record and the I129F petition will be sent overnight to the National Visa Center for processing."

However, there's no update on the USCIS website. Not sure what to think of it. Also, are they really gonna overnight it? When should I start calling NVC for that number thing?

    Thank you guys.

As others said, don't rely on the website, it's not a real-time status! It will most likely be updated later today. But the best thing is that you're approved    congrats

Don't know whether it's because of involving your congressman or what, but to have your case overnighted to NVC is really cool :D uber congrats

  11. So my phone got messed up after it felt on water this morning. I wasn't able to go to an AT&T store before 8 pm to get another phone and as soon as the man handed me my new phone, I realized I got a new SMS: status update -----> NOA2!!!! Finally!! It is indeed a great feeling. I wasn't expecting it today. Good luck to all of you still waiting ;) it may come when you least expect it!!!

hahaha, what a wonderful way for your new phone to offer you its friendship :D congrats

  12. WOW!!! I can't believe it... Was talking to my fiancee to say Good Night, and our call dropped like it often does... then the text message came in because the call ended... Case Status Changed... so I called her back... and said wait, wait, wait... I need to check something... (the website)... and there it was... APPROVED!!! We got share it together... SO FREAKIN COOOOOOOL!!! I don't think I will sleep much tonight...

Wow, they ARE really coming  congrats to you too :thumbs: I'm really glad that all you my Jan friends are getting your approvals

  13. Hi soheil jaan,

My case was current before the interview time ,but when I went for interview it retrogressed ,it's happened lots of times before if you look at Archived Visa Bulletins ,at visa bulletin.for me it retrogressed (means all current dates in my category came back to an earlier time) for about 2 years. This issue is not related to a consulate nor any case in individual. My problem with naples is about possible problems I may encounter getting a Schengen Visa not about my own case or issues related to it.

transferring has 2 major problems.firstly it may delay your interview time , secondly there is a possibility that your case may get lost.I haven't made a decision yet ,but considering these problems I think I have to forget transferring my case :(

OK, OK, sorry for my lack of information about your visa type and its procedure. I know how hard it could be to get a Schengen Visa for Iranian citizens :( It seems that you know all the possible consequences of changing the embassy. So I guess, no one can help you now. It's up to you to decide what would you like to do. However, my last piece of advice would be to consult with an immigration lawyer about your case to see what would they recommend. Sadly, I don't know one to help you :( but good luck
