  1. It's your I-94 expiration date. And I guess you mean Nov. 18 2012, not 2013. :) (date is on the stamp, should be 90 days after your date of entry)

Your K-1 visa expired the date you used it.

If you don't know his A#, just put nothing... Not sure where you can find it. A&B may be able to answer that one.

Thanks for the reply. I wondered which it was, as on the visa it had an issue date and Expiration date.

I will put the I-94 expiration date, but I have double checked both the dates on mine and my sons and they both say Nov 18 2013! Guess the officer made a mistake?

  2. Thanks for all the replies.

Kate, I had a message from Stu yesterday, saying he got his visa finally! Good News! I'm surprised it took so long to get your marriage certificate, it must differ from state to state. I picked mine up from the town offices 2 days after the wedding.

Orangedesk, good to hear from you and thanks for the answers. I just read on here someone else put the control number down too and someone else replied they might just change it without giving out a RFE?

Phil and Alla, thanks for the answers, but I think the paperwork must be slightly different for each consulate as I don't have a number on the back of my I-94.

Scotinmass, thanks for the tips! :)

  3. Hi everyone,

I came over here on a K-1 visa, my 4 year old son on a k-2 visa in August. I got married September 16th and I'm now filling out all the paperwork for the AOS.

I've been reading this forum, but I have some questions, if anyone can help?

    1) I was born in England and I'm British, but I always get confused what to put in the 'country of birth' box and the 'country of citizenship/nationality' box?

Do I put England, United Kingdom, Great Britain?

2)On the form I-485, it asks for an A#, is this on the visa under Annotation?

3)Where is my nonimmigrant visa number on my visa? there is a control number at the top right or a number in red beginning with F, bottom right.

4)On the I-131 form, part 3, if I don't have a date of departure or expected length of trip, what do I put?

5)On my sons forms, do I sign them and then put (mother) after, as he is to young to fill them out and sign them?

    Thanks for any help :)

  4. You won't be able to do your medical untill you get your new case number which will start with LND.....

Once you receive your NOA2 your case gets sent onto the National visa center, where they will assign the case number and send your paperwork off to the embassy in London.

It's best to wait until after your paperwork has been sent off as your medical results get forwarded to the embassy 3 days after your medical. If your case hasn't arrived yet, your medical notes might be filed somewhere else and could slightly delay your case.

Appointments are easy to get for the medical, often you can book it a few days or a week ahead, so don't worry about a long wait.

    Hope this helps! :)

  5. Hi All -- just got our interview date by calling DOS, and thought I'd share our timeline for others that are waiting as well.

We sent all of the "Packet 3" documents, including DS2001 on August 28. Laura's medical exam was on August 30. After patiently waiting a couple of weeks I called DOS yesterday (Sept 18). They told me that their system showed everything logged as being received one day earlier, Monday, September 17, but no interview date yet. I called again today (Sept 19) and they did have an interview date in their system: October 3, 2012... only 2 weeks away!

We still haven't received a formal letter, of course, but it sounds like they assigned the date today and we'll hopefully get the official notice shortly. I am a little surprised at the close timing between now and the interview date (we didn't mention a specific wedding date or travel plans, so I assumed there'd be at least a 4 week spread), but very happy and grateful about this news. (And really hoping the rep at DOS was looking at the correct file! :D )

It's usually 4 weeks from when they have your medical and forms. I think they had them logged at the start of september, hence your interview date of October 3rd. I said in my covering letter I was available for an interview date at short notice and got 3 days notice! :)

  6. Hi,

I had to get my son's Spanish Birth certificate translated aswell as a spanish police certificate for me.

I used a translation company in my near-by town, they printed it on company headed paper, stamped it, signed it and at the bottom typed; Cintra Ltd certifies that this translation has been carried out by a qualified translator and that it is true and accurate to the best of the translator's knowledge and ability.

I also asked the Translator to do a declaration and sign it (this didn't cost any extra)

When I handed in my documents at the interview, I only gave the translation and they didn't ask for a letter from the translator. However this was in the UK, I'm not sure if it will be different in Poland?

I didn't have anything sworn by a notary.

    Hope this helps! :)

  7. Ohhhh--happy wedding to you! We married on a Sunday afternoon. Just about 3 weeks now until our 4th anniversary. Still amazed at how happy I feel every day. Stupid, crazy, in love happy! I wish you the same joy after getting through the immigration maze. (L)

Thanks! I've only been here just over 3 weeks, but wake up happy everyday too. :)

  8. Robert, I gave a link to my AOS list (which is up to date) in this post. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/387133-rescheduling-interview-with-london-embassy/page__view__findpost__p__5663136

There's a few tips about preparing it now in advance. If you finish reading that thread to the end, there's a few more good tips. My list will give you an overview or checklist of all you will submit. For help, look at the example forms filled out. That's in the VJ menu bar Called "Example Forms".

Then there is an AOS forum here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/7-adjustment-of-status-green-card-from-family-based-visas/

If you browse it everyday, you'll see what other people are asking or screwing up and learn from that. You'll also figure out who seems to know what they are talking about and who is clueless but still answering questions.

Congrats Robert, it's a good feeling knowing this part is over! :)

Nich-Nick- I'm getting married on sunday and I have been reading up on the AOS process and your link is very helpful. I'm starting to get everything ready to send it off. :)

  9. I haven't posted for a few days guys as I have been feeling the stress & anxiety that Photomile & Patsgal have been experiencing. I want to say so much but then I think dwelling on it just makes it worse. The only comfort I feel is that we're all in the same boat & none of us are alone. I agree with Robert that we have all worked so hard to get this far & people that don't follow the rules do need to be penalised. We have all got everything in order though & know what's required of us. I have a strong feeling that as long as you have everything you need & evidence to support any question they will throw at you, we'll all be fine. It's very sensitive stuff that the officers are dealing with too. It's appalling if this supposed mean lady really is THAT rude, but then Sunshine said she had a lovely interview, so it just makes me think that there's a reason for her behvaiour. Stu also said she wasn't rude & she does have a right to ask for more info if it's applicable.

    Hi,

This site is an absolute God send and has so much helpful information on it. I think I'd still be waiting for my interview without it. However when you read some posts, they can make you really stressed out, anxious and paranoid. My fiance told me to stop going on VJ home page and reading stories from other countries as I was getting stressed about them! :) You have to remember that every case is different, all you can do is prepare as much as you can and take the evidence you think you'll need with you.

I had two great journey buddies, stu4lee and kittylondon and it really helped me to be able to chat with them most days, leading upto my interview.

  10. Hi,

Yes, I took my fiance in with me.

I rang the expensive line and was told to email the embassy so his name would be put on the list. As we only had 3 days notice of the interview I emailed them and when I hadn't heard back the next day I emailed again with 'URGENT, RESPONSE NEEDED BY 01 AUGUST' in the subject heading. It worked and a got a response the day before the interview to say he was on the list. You have to think they receive hundreds of emails a day and just work through them in their own time. You need it to stand out!

I emailed them at this address; londoniv@state.gov

    Good luck! :)

  11. What a relief to feel like you're in control of your timelines again. We're heading to Boston that week too and hope to meet up with a long time VJ acquaintance while there. Very excited to see Boston for the first time. ...and Providence and Cape Cod and wherever we decide to go.

Thanks! It is a big relief. I'm flying into Boston and then headed to New Hampshire, but on my first trip to see my fiance, back in 2010 we stayed in Boston for a few days. I really liked it. Boston has a different feel to it, than New York and I found all the people really friendly.

Hope you have a great time!
