  1. Hi everyone,

I'm just checking through my folder (which has been ready for the last month!) if I have everything I need for Thursdays interview!

    I've got;

-Visa fee receipt for me and my son.

    -Divorce papers and copy.

    -Long birth certificate and copy.

-Sons birth certificate, translation and copies.

    -Police certificate and copy.

-Spanish police certificate, translation and copies.

-Court custody/consent order for my son and copy.

-I134, W2, tax transcripts, pay stubs and employment letter.

    -Spare copies of forms.

-2 passport photos each for me and my son

    -Passports

After Stuarts request for more relationship evidence I'm taking a truck load!

-Photos....2 albums plus 12 photos taken on fiances last visit in April.

    -Skype call logs

-email logs (haven't got as many, as we skype twice a day and text).

    -Cards, letters, boarding passes etc

-old passport, which has all the stamps in from my 5 trips over there.

oh and the fiance. He'll be arriving tomorrow morning! :luv:

I haven't got an appointment letter yet. We got an email yesterday telling us about Thursdays interview and a letter was on it's way. I don't think it will make it in time, but I've heard this isn't a problem and I have also printed out the email.

I've also emailed the embassy to get my fiance put on the list for Thursday.

If there's anything I've missed, please let me know!

  2. I have heard the same from friends & family who live in London. They have all been panicking & setting off from home extra early but their journey hasn't taken them longer than usual..let's hope this last! Just phoned the DOS & the embassy posted me a letter on Friday! Do they arrive in the regular post or are they couriered? I am assuming regular post as I cannot imagine how many letters they post out everyday & the $$$ it would cost them to Fedex them all. Come on Royal Mail!

Are you waiting on the packet 3 letter? They are sent regular post (snail mail) so you may have to stalk the postman everyday like I did

I going to London Thursday morning for my interview, so I'll report back how busy it was or if there were any delays.

  3. Wow, I'm still in shock!

I was skyping with my fiance this morning, before he went to work and he quickly checked his emails. He took a sharp intake of breath and then said I've forwarded something to you. It was a response from the embassy from the email we sent last week.

    INTERVIEW DATE; AUGUST 2ND, 8.00AM!!!!!!

3 days notice! I AM SO HAPPY!:dance::dance:

  4. This is a bit weird...I had my interview on Friday and I'm taking 3 kids with me, there was a lot of paperwork but I didn't have to have a double appointment, I did however pay the 3 fees.

Did they tell you it was a single appt? you might have had a double appt without realising it?

Did they ask any questions about your kids at the interview?

  5. That's kinda hogwash because an appt with the interviewer takes about 10 minutes so squeezing in a kid might add on 2 minutes. I don't know the age but young ones don't even have to go. And they don't take people by appointment time anyway. If an 11:00 person lines up at 7:00 and gets in the door as number 01, then they are taken first. But that's the story they gave you, so be it. Perhaps you should email and remind them you have an urgent need to get the child in school and need to arrive in the US by August 20. And let them know your documents and medical are in their hands since _________ date. ::crossing fingers for you::

Yep, I know it. I said to the guy, my son does'nt even have to come to the interview, but he said they need the extra time to go through the extra paperwork? I paid twice so I have 2 appointments and as my son is so young and travelling with me, they have to do a double appointment. Yes hogwash!

But, I feel better knowing my case isn't gathering dust on someones desk who's on holiday.

I've already emailed them at the start of the week and reminded them! The guy told me today, they have all my paperwork and my medical and I'm eligible for an interview, but I guess there waiting on that 'magical double appt' to be available.

Stu4Lee said, the call today should be logged and hopefully I'll either get moved up the list or maybe someone will notice.

Thanks for crossing your fingers, I hope I hear this week coming! :)

  6. Ok, so it may not be the olympics slowing me down.

I just rang the expensive number and got a better explanation. Apparently there were a few last minute single appts, but because I need a double appt I'm having to wait a little longer. The guy said they normally take 2-4 weeks to assign an interview date so I could have another 2 ish weeks to wait.

Well at least I know now :D

  7. Can you send DS2001 with packet 3 if you have done your medical already?

Yes that what I did. Aslong as you have your affidavit of support, pay slips, tax transcripts etc from your fiance.

You also have to send a covering letter, giving your email address, phone number, date of wedding (if known) there's an example on here somewhere.

  8. I seem to be one of the only ones waiting for there interview affected by the Olympics?

I sent my packet3, DS2001 and covering letter on July 6th and I'm still waiting to hear an interview date. For the last two weeks when I phone them all they say is I'm eligible for an interview, but no date has been set. A few friends on here have got interview dates at short notice, next week, but I'm still waiting?

I was hoping to be out there mid August, as my son's school starts August 24th and I was hoping to get him settled in first. My 'window' is getting smaller and smaller. :(

  9. No they didn't1 I didn't even get shown the ones I sent in with the initial application. I also didn't get asked for the supporting evidence of income with the Affidavit of Support. She was just more interested in my answers and really only got asked about 7 questions from what I recall.

Congrats, glad it all went well and I look forward to reading your review :dance::dance:

  10. Ahhh, thanks :)

We should all hear this week!

I would love to get out there to get my son settled in before school starts (25th August), but if it takes longer, we're just going to have to roll with it. I'm just happy to be waiting for an interview. I feel so bad for the other January filers that haven't even had there NOA2. Hang in there guys.

  11. Hey guys, had my medical at Bentick Mansions today. Appt was 2.30, i got there around 2.15 and chatted to a nice CR1 dude from penzance who said he was on VJ too - hi Dylan! Pretty promptly called in by the cheerful radiographer to have chest x-ray, told to take bra & top off, and wrap a very sexy navy gown around me... after the blink and you'll miss it chest x-ray, told to wait in a little room with crayons and cosmo in it.. something for everyone(!). Doctor came and got me minutes later - blonde, glamorous, accented. There she asked me all the questions on the questionnaire again, and did a pretty comprehensive but swift physical - height, weight, eye sight, eyes, ears, chest and lungs, knee tap, tummy feel, peek down my knickers, blood pressure, and then blood test. That was that, took 5 minutes. She didn't utter a word, not unfriendly, but I couldn't help but think how boring her job must be.. i hope she does this part time and practises some other kind of medicine too. It's likely.

Was finally allowed outta that robe and told to wait to pay back in the main waiting room, but the vaccination nurse came and got me instead and said I was missing the second MMR jab. I know for a fact i've had it but she said it wasn't on my record. I opted not to pay them £38 and to go get it at my GP surgery instead. Even if they charge me the same, i'd rather the NHS has the money than this rip-off Knightsbridge clinic! The nurse didn't seem to care either way, just reminded me i'll need it for AOS. Then out to pay, and finally, coffee with the lovely Photomile/Mark - another VJer who had finished just before me! We walked to Apostrophe on Baker St and got the coffees we'd both been craving all day and had resisted for fear of it pushing our blood pressure higher!

All in all took 50 mins, not many people around, everyone was pleasant. Better than a day at work! Certainly grateful to live in west london, what an expensive day if you have to add travel onto £227... As my fiance said, this is just the beginning of a lifetime of frustration at the cost of private medicine! Still, yay, one step closer..

Glad it all went ok for you!

I had a different doctor, who was really nice and very good (and patient) with my son. I didn't get the knee tap or peek down my knickers-, maybe the fact I had my son with me was enough to establish the gender check!

My GP charged me under 10 pounds for the MMR jab, much cheaper than them.

  12. Since nobody is replying, I'll take a stab at yours just to give an opinion. Keep in mind I have not paid much attention to actual K2 kids. It's mostly how I would interpret a form that fits many visas as it sorta applies to a 4 year old.

Thanks for looking over and giving your opinion :)

I had to pay a visa fee for my son for the visitors visa, so I assume he applied too and was denied.

I've just printed out the DS-156 and put for question 31 I was denied a vistors visa.

On the last page it says 31. Additional Visa refusals:None. Is that because there was only one refusal?

  13. Hi Everyone!

I have a few of questions about the DS-156 form, that I'm filling out for my 4 year old son.

Q27. What would I put in 'What is the purpose of your trip?

Q28. 'Who is paying for your trip' Would 'Mother-my name' be ok?

Q31. I applied for a vistors visa last year and was refused so do I have to put the same info on my sons form?

Q32. Does he intend to work? I put N/A? (But will in the distant future! He's only 4!)

Q33. Does he intend to study? Would I list the pre-school he will be starting at in September?

Q34. List the persons travelling with you? Would that just be 'Mother-my name'?

Q37. List any of the following persons....- would that be no to all?

Q39. Was this application prepared by someone on your behalf. Would that be yes and then fill in my details underneath and sign?

Q41. He can't sign it, so do I sign again?

Also do I sign the DS-230 PART 1 for him too.

    Thanks for any help

  14. Fair point.

one thing that does concern me is having the medical too early as those results will be sent to the embassy early. I did speak to NVC who said it should be sent to the embassy mid the end of next week, but I guess waiting would be wise. Would it be an idea to postpone the medical as well? Kitty has hers on the 11th, and I'm planning on booking mine tomorrow. I wonder if this is too early

Most peoples cases leave NVC fairly quickly, 5 days or so. Don't take what the person says at the NVC for fact. We spoke with 3 different people each time we rang, the first said we don't process this here, just send them off to the embassy in a few days. I thought great and booked my medical for 2 weeks ahead, thinking that was plenty of time for my case to get to London, before the medical results get there. After just over a week of not hearing anything, I rang back and was told by a second person it was still there and would be leaving in a few days! By then it was too late to postpone the medical, but I think ( I hope!) they arrived at the same time.

It may well leave in a few days, but I would personally hold off until you know it has left for sure.

Likewise I was holding off sending the forms until I had the packet 3 letter. Most people get there's in 4 days, I'm getting a little impatient, as I got my NOA2 on the 14th May and it's been really slow going :(

I posted on here if it was alright for me send my forms off, without having the packet 3 letter yet and thanks again to Nick-Nich for being the voice of reason :) You know your stuff and your advice and is greatly appreciated!

I was thinking the same but just want to get things moving.

I have my moments when I'm impatient and tired of waiting and then the rest of the time, I think it's going to happen when it happens, there's no rushing these people. All I can do is wait, keep working, keep saving and keep smiling! :D

  15. Hi everyone,

The london embassy received my case last monday and I'm just wondering if I'm ok to post my forms off tomorrow and pay the visa fee, even though I have not received the packet3 letter.

I rang the DOS number on friday and they said my case had been sent to London and was still pending and no packet 3 letter had gone out.

I've got everything ready and had my medical, so I was going to send all the forms, plus the DS-2001 and the covering letter to say I'm ready for the interview.

    Thanks for any help.

  16. I attended the interview with my fiancé just because I wanted to go for the adventure and finances weren't a concern or getting the days off work. It did not help the decision in any way. We had a mini adventure to London...stayed in a hotel, shopped, toured Buckingham Palace, had a celebratory dinner, etc. Great fun if it won't dent your budget or he'd rather have vacation days to spend after you're there to help you settle. If you haven't looked into AOS yet, it's $1070 to apply shortly after you arrive.

Your tourist visa was denied because you wanted to spend a very long time in the US yet you weren't able to show a good reason you would return to the UK. This time you have been petitioned, vetted, vaccinated, and have an affidavit showing somebody will support you and marry you.. There is no way the denial of the tourist visa will affect the K1, unless the tourist visa was denied because of crimes, drugs, or other inadmissible things.

Maybe it would be cheaper to take a good friend along to London if you're too nervous to go alone. They could wait in the line with you, then go to the park or coffeeshop once you go inside. They could also hold your phone and electricals saving you from checking them at Goulds pharmacy.

Hi, I've been working 2 jobs since January and saving hard, so money is not an issue.

My fiance finishes work by 4.30pm and has weekends off so he won't need to take any days off to help me settle. Also in the last 2 years I've spent almost a year there (split up) so I've already made friends through taking my son to story time at the library and to a play session at the local school once a week. I also know all the neighbours and a lot of the people that live in his village. He's 1 of 12 children so there's plenty of family in the area. In his village he has 3 sisters and 2 brothers living there and his Mom and three other sisters live a 20 min drive away. Everyone is so friendly, I found it really easy to settle in and make friends, in each of my trips.

I understand what you're saying about the tourist visa, I had 5 out of 6 boxes checked, the only one was I did not have a job to come back too. I own a property and had plenty of saving to live off, but she was not interested in looking at that. I was also still going through divorce, so not even free to marry. Again she wasn't interested and denied the visitors visa.

I know this won't affect this visa, I just need the support inside the embassy!

It is a good idea about taking a friend, I'm going to have to do some more thinking....

Orangedesk, thanks for the phone number and I hope you have a great time when you come over!

  17. Those all sound like solid reasons to want him by your side, and he is very sweet to say that he will be there if you want him to be.

My fiance won't be there. He just visited for 2 weeks, and went home last week, and we would rather spend the money on the wedding than another flight. I live really close to the embassy and haven't really worked up any nerves over the interview yet, although I'm sure they will come!

I remember reading other posts where people had called the embassy ahead of time and had their fiance(e)'s name put on a list to be allowed in on the day - I don't think it's enough to just turn up and wave your American passport.

Another advantage of having him there would be to bring more stuff back with him for you! Only let him bring hand baggage on the way over, and then pay for 2 bags each on the way back, all full of your stuff ;) (it gets much more expensive after the 2nd bag).

Having said all that, of course you would do absolutely fine on your own, and we could always get a cup of tea beforehand :)

Thanks. I think if I hadn't had this interview last year, then I wouldn't know quite what to expect. Everything hangs on this 4 minute interview. I know it's going to be fine, all our paperwork has been ok, and we have spent almost a year together (in 3 month blocks)in the past 2 years. So I have plenty of proof of ongoing relationship, although I've read on here that it's not needed at the london embassy.

Even if my fiance comes over for the interview, it would be nice to meet up either before or after and swap stories!

I've already thought about him taking stuff back for me and bought 2 extra suitcases!

  18. Hi Everyone!

There's now quite a few of us on here that have had our NOA2, are waiting for the packet 3 letter, or actually have the interview date. I'm just wondering how many of you are going to the interview with your fiance/fiancee.

Me personally, I want my fiance there. I see no reason why I would not be granted the visa, but I feel having him there will help and the support would be great.

I also applied for a vistors visa last year (march 2011) and was denied because I didn't have a job at the time (although having a job makes it's hard to go to the US for 6 months!) I've already been inside the building and leaving last time without the visa was heart-breaking.

This time it's so much more important, not to mention having to wait now for 6 months. I just don't want to take any chances- I couldn't bare to wait another 6 months.

My fiance thinks it's alot of money to spend, probably un-necessarily, but has said if I want him there, he will be there! I would rather work another month to help towards the cost of his flight and have him there, this is the most important day of our lives!

Also if there's anyone who's recently attended the interview in London with there fiance, could you let me know how you get the fiance into the embassy, i.e if they need a form????

    Thanks :)

  19. Knightsbridge always hands out a photocopy of the immunization sheet (DS-3025). It even says to do that somewhere on it. They would be having a real off day to forget to give it to you. There's more sheets with the rest of the medical results that completes the whole package. They don't give those out. They aren't even completed until the blood test results come back from the lab.

Sunshine---I think you're pushing it to send in your applications before your file has even left NVC. the embassy website says:

Applicants who have received a letter from the Immigrant Visa Unit at the Embassy advising them that an approved petition has been received in their name and of the case number accorded to their application, should follow this link for further information.

Note: Only applicants who been notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit that a petition has been received in their name should complete the visa application forms. Forms received without the applicant's case number will be discarded.
    .

I thought it was pushing it too, which was why I was holding off sending them. My fiance has phoned the NVC a few times, after we received our case number to see when the paperwork was leaving, but kept getting different information! The first said it should be sent off in a couple of days, so we waited and then rang back. The next person said no it hadn't left yet and it can be there for 15 days or so????? I got him to call again last night and finally they told us it has left!!!!

I still have to sort through my paperwork and double check everything, so at the earliest I'll be ready next week. I have to read through some posts to see which forms I need to fill in for my son aswell.

Happy again now things seem to be moving! Thanks for your help. :)
