Rescheduling interview with London Embassy?

Hi all,

My fiancé received his interview date and is unable to attend on the date they assigned him. He called the helpline to see about rescheduling. They advised him to send an email to an address they gave him. He emailed them explaining that he's unable to attend on that day, and included the other date he wouldn't be able to attend. We are now waiting on a response from them.

My question is does anyone know how long it takes for them to respond with the new date?

Thanks!

Take the email with you and they will also have your name on the list with the guard at the head of the line to get in.

Hi Holly, I do believe her interview was schedule by London Embassy because she is a K1 visa on your case NVC will schedule your interview just like on my case or not because you are a CR1 not IR1?

Holly's doing DCF, so her interview will be scheduled by the consulate, just like a K1.

Sort of off-topic but this thread just reminded me of my own wait for my rescheduled interview letter for London - I managed to bring my interview forward to help with the close flight time I had booked and was anxious to make sure I had everything perfect for the interview so there would be no delays.

Letter didn't come, didn't come, London said they had sent it - I was going out of my mind, then there was a knock on the door and my very sheepish neighbour handed over a rather squashed looking envelope.

Her dog had stolen it out of the postman's van (along with several other items) and had hidden them in his bed! She found them a week later when cleaning it out.

It was the most crazy thing. I sometimes think about that when people don't receive their RFE letters etc. You never know what can happen to a piece of post.

My fiance's original interview date was for oct 3 2012 but we got an email stating the date is now sept 10. We are doing a K1 visa so our interview was scheduled by the embassy.

Thank you nich-nick for answering my question about the letter not making it in time. I will have him print the email if the letter doesn't make it in time. They put it in the post today so, hopefully it will make it in time.

I also called DOS to confirm that the date had been changed in the computer and it was. So, it will be a trip to London on Sunday for his Monday morning appointment. Can't wait to put this part behind us and move forward with AOS!

Thanks all & nich-nick!

AOS isn't much fun to prepare, but at least you will be together. I'll tell you what I did you might want to consider while you are in paperwork mode and have some lonely downtime. I got everything ready for AOS that I could before he arrived. Most of the paperwork can be completed in advance. I just printed a draft and marked with a highlighter what remaining info I needed like his flight date and number so I wouldn't forget to add it later. Hahaha and I didn't fill in wedding date in case it jinxed me. So dumb. Anyway I used the time to study up on AOS, about which I was clueless. I made a whole mock up packet putting in blank pages with a note if it was something like his I-94 or marriage certificate that needed to be added.

So glad I did that because once he got here, it was like holiday time and we didn't want to do paperwork or have to study or think too clearly. We married day 5 and had the AOS in the mail a few days later. There was very little to do, but it was a huge annoyance to do that little bit once we were finally together.

Here's my AOS list if you want to get a jump start https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FIsgnb7Tfj7tcRNnqRMKUOXQdEfR6HTUDY2vX6zKqqU/mobilebasic?authkey=CNXN_oQH&pli=1

Me and my husband had to change our date too.

Can I just say its BS for us to have to call the embassy, and them charge us like $30 to tell us an email address? <_<

I know my timeline sucks, but my husbands P.O.E was on January 7th, 2013!

Greencard in hand! After almost 4 years, WE DID IT!

Ooohhhh what a good idea Nich-Nick! I will definitely do this! We want to get the AOS paperwork done ASAP so

We can get the ball rolling on that work authorization! Also, what about leaving the country? We weren't planning on doing that til next year after our ceremony for a honeymoon. Will we be able to do that after everything with AOS is processed?

Thanks!

And yes! Bs but we play by their rules no matter how unfair it is unfortunately.... Grrrr

Also, what about leaving the country? We weren't planning on doing that til next year after our ceremony for a honeymoon. Will we be able to do that after everything with AOS is processed?

Fill in the I-131 to get Advance Parole. You aren't planning on leaving, but it's the unplanned, sudden trip you want to be covered for. What if your parent, sibling, or grandparent got suddenly I'll or died tragically? Would you want to make that decision where if you returned to the UK without Advance Parole, you would throw out all immigration thus far, remain in the UK, and start over from scratch with a spouse petition? I have been around long enough to see that happen to people who didn't plan to leave for a year. The form is easy and requires no reason or dates. Reason "in case of emergency with my family in the United Kingdom"; Dates "unknown". The form is also free if it goes with AOS packet. Our AP arrived in 50-something days, where the greencard took 5.5 months. Once you have the greencard, then then the AP travel authorization is no longer needed.
