  1. Uzbeks are not Russians, they are not slaviks, they are turkmen. Different culture/language. I cannot say a lot about them in terms of women or having them for wives. They are generally considered of inferior stock, not to be racist, just sayin' it like it is. Kazaks, Uzbeks, Tajiks. A lot of them are illegals in Ukraine and Russia, particularly in Moscow. Moscow residents have made a pretty good business of fake marriages to them so they can live in Moscow (in Russia you need special permission to live in Moscow, St Petersburg and some other cities) Alla has translated several marriage/divorce certificates which were obviously marriages of convenience. Pretty well accepted practice. We had a lot of them, and Moldovans, for laborers in Ukraine. The tradesmen...plumbers, welders, steel workers, electricians, carpenters, were all Ukrainians or Russians. Usually the engineers were Russian, or foreign, some Ukrainians as engineers, never an Uzbek as an engineer. The laborers moved piles of stone by hand, with shovels. Backfilled foundations with shovels. Just brutal work, and they worked long and hard for little money and volunteered to work extra, late into the night, moving materials and things, all by hand.

They are pretty openly racist there, it is NOT the USA.

On the other hand there ARE ethnic Russians and Ukrainians living there also. What is her background?

She is good in english, fluent in russian, basic in french and german. I havent found out all details yet but it seems like she is Russian or Ukrainian. she went there for a husband and it did not work out. she has an 11 yr old son and 17 yr old son.

  2. Hello everyone I am currently talking with a lady from Tashkent Uzbekistan, And am interested in any info about travelling there as opposed to russia / ukraine. as it is close to afghanistan, what with all the political things and occasional kidnapping of americans in countries over that way. thanks for any advice on this.

  3. That is correct. IR-1/CR-1 does not require an adjustment of status or AOS fee, it comes with a green card. Usually they place an I-551 stamp in the passport which takes the place of the green card and the green card arrives a few weeks after your wife does, but she can work and travel internationally immediately. If you have been married LESS than two year when the visa is issued you get the CR-1 and a 2 year green card and have to do ROC in two years. If you have been married MORE than two years when you get the visa you get an IR-1 and a 10 year green card. Otherwise the two are identical.

It is a good visa for someone where the spouse being able to work is important. Or the spouse being able to travel is important. If I were to have met a woman from Quebec, just a few minutes away, I would have gone the CR route. She could visit easily in the meantime and I could not imagine her coming here and telling her..."oh, by the way, you cannot go to Canada for 4-6 months" For the 2,356 young people who every day ask "Will I be able to meet the poverty guideline for my fiancee?" The K-1 is NOT the visa to choose.

The CR-1 takes longer to process, but given the current time frames of the K-1 it is not that much different. From filing a petition to receiveing a green card, the CR-1 is usually faster.

The K-1 gets a fiancee here faster, but you are only half done.

The K-1 has one other big advantage for SOME people. A child can be issued a K-2 up to age 21. For a CR-2 the child must be under age 18 when you marry the foreign parent. If you meet a woman with children aged 17-20 and she wants the children to come along, the K-1 is your only choice.

The other advantage is you can meet someone today and file the K-1 petition later today. With a CR-1 you have to get married first, then file the petition, that also adds to the delay. However if one looks at this as one SHOULD look at this, that you are making a lifelong committment to a spouse and family, then a few weeks or months up front should make no difference.

We considered both. There was no advantage to US in doing the CR-1, it offered nothing we needed. So we went with the K-1.

:help: When you said AOS I thought you were referring to Affidavit Of Support not Adjustment of Status. So do both Ir-1/Cr-1 and K-1 require Affidavit Of Support ??? Or does the Ir-1/Cr-1 only require tax return previous year and letter from employer. ? one other post said they also want to see three months of pay-stubs . ??? :help:

    what is ROC . ?

  5. The department of state handles ALL visas. They have chosen to do it differently for the CR-1 than for the K-1. I do not know why I do know they are different visas and you will not be one of those saying "You mean she can't get a job or go to visit her mother while we wait for a green card?"

We all have different reasons we choose the visa we do. We chose the K-1 because the advantages of the CR-1 were no advantage to US and the K-1 was faster. I would wait longer if I wanted the benefits that come with a CR-1 but they did not interest me. But in 20/20 hindsight, the AOS was a pain in the @ss and expensive. It is what it is. Remember, she is your wife. This is for life. A moment after she arrives you will forget all this nonsense, I promise. THEN when the everyday things of life (and they are compounded with a foreign wife) get to you...remember all you went through to get her here and smile. OK?

  I thought both visa's require AOS ? both Ir-1/Cr-1 and k-1. ? the way you stated this it SOUNDS like it is only required for K-1 visa.

  6. And I would heartily disagree with planning to meet more than one when you visit. Turn it around and let's say the lady is going to your country to visit but must leave after a few days because she has to meet with other men during her trip. How would you feel? Yes, I'd feel not very important.

Having a backup plan is OK, but having more than one plan in action, to me, is not being serious. Yes don't get married to anyone you haven't met and later corresponded with more.

:reading: I agree with you 100 %. :innocent:

  7. I am still interested in the Cliff Notes version of your previous foray into international relationships....PM to keep it private. With that knowledge I will be better able to offer specific suggestions.

 I have that series and I also purchased the e-book Elena Petrova { Elenas Models } wrote to help in finding a good woman in FSU.

thats another reason I joined VJ, to verify what she wrote and since Then I have discovered various no-no's :protest::girlwerewolf2xn: from 1st visit. :bonk: :bonk: . it usually takes up to a week to hear from current one.

  8. We had the oath ceremony today at the City Hall in New Haven VT. The children fromthe school next door had decorated the room with hand made flags for the countries of each of the 39 people taking the oath today. And collages of photos and information on each of the countries. It was quite an art gallery! There were new citizens from 3 from Ukraine, 2 from Russia and 1 from Belarus (For my fellow RUB members interest).

The American Legion provided an honor guard, damn it is good to see M1 rifles still serving our country somewhere, they couldn't choose a better one. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts were the "ushers" to seat the guests and also led the "Pledge of Allegience" The Beeman Grade School choir sang the National Anthem, "This Land is Your Land" "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and our state song "These Green Mountains"

Really nice. The whole community was honored to be chosen for the ceremony.

So Alla got her certificate and changed her name to mine. I guess she decided I was a "keeper" after all.

Thanks to all the VJ members and good luck to all of you.

Congratulations to you both .!!!!!! you guys make A great couple. no matter how far, true love will find each other. the very best of wishes for you, Alla and your new sons. sounds like a great community too. !

  9. Don't need to "demand" but if this woman is to be your wife, don't you think that you should be talking "live, in person"?

Insist that she purchase a cheap SIM card and arrange to call her.

We still use a cheap International Calling Card from Cloncom.

Purchase one for a few bucks and get with it. I can assume that this minor cost is just that...minor. There will be more opportunities to spend more money.... I assume that you have already thought of and have knowledge of the total costs involved and expected to expend with an international relationship and immigration...especially for more than one person.

If not, then stop right now.

yup  I have a pretty good idea of the cost and effort involved... thats another reason I'm here.

So in the event I dont hear back from her,{ my gut is telling me maybe I wont} you said you composed a killer letter of intro. this last time I tailored each letter based upon thier profile and had quite a few non responses. not asking for personal info but what in general did you include and how much detail on each subject.

also you said your Alla met Garys Alla in russia, to see what it was like over here.? I'm guessing she told her all the challenges she went through and your Alla still decided to come.. I'm genuinely happy for you as you seem like good people..I am looking for the same as you... :star: Thanks again for all your help.

I did send an e-mail to EM asking for more details on thier screening process.

  10. I discovered a few scanners when I used EM.

One out and out scammer, quick I love Yous and then I need money for visa to come visit you.... Then about three GTGs.....stringing along, never sending real life photos, wanting to set up a meeting...never asked for money but also never wanted to talk on the phone, etc.

To avoid talking on the phone is a red flag, period, regardless of the agency used. Period.

 I sent an E-mail with demand for phone # or skype so I'll see what happens.

  11. The cell phones there are very cheap and are unlocked. One buys cheap SIM cards everywhere; she can buy a low minutes one just for you, as Gary as suggested.

Are you corresponding with other women? no but from what you guys are saying maybe I should start again...

seems like if she wuz serius she would put more effort in. I did not know about the phones and cards being cheaper over there...

  12. If you want, my wife Alla can call your woman friend and talk to her. She had done this before and all of the folks here on VJ-RUB offer some sort of assistance in any regard.

It's not a big deal to us; we use a very cheap International Calling Card (don't you have one?) and can call any number anytime.

Since she doesn't have Internet at home, where / how does she communicate with you? At the Agency? What email address provider does she converse with you? @mail.ru

    { Do you think she is corresponding with other men?}

 That is a posibility to consider, but winner take all. I do not want to break it off with her but I will send an email about the cards. ;)

  13. I'm trying to bring this back on track.....so OP, they like to talk. When will you atttempt this?

I've given you a method that both of you can use to break the ice......if you show willingness to push the envelope and not be so scared....that in itself will endear yourself to your FSU woman (if that is who you are emailing with?!!).

:ph34r: Why are you so suspicious of everyones motives. big city life ?????? ?????? she has said that she lives in apt with mom and dad and doesnt want freaked out guys she has decided not to continue calling making a nuisance and cause them to have to change a long standing phone # ... which I think is perfectly reasonable to respect the family...She does not have a computer at home. :secret::wow:
