Hi, I have the exact same days as you!!! Got my NOA1 today and checked my status online and fingerprints appointment has been scheduled too!  

Hey all - I applied in May (12th) in VSC and today finally got a letter in the mail, though not what I expected. Request for more evidence.. damn it!

I'm freaking out a little bit, I thought I sent everything possible, I gave the customer service center a call and they weren't giving much information, said legally they are not allowed to advise us what's good evidence or something of the like. We are legitimately married for almost 4 years (since June 2012), we have no kids yet (talk about a slap in the face, do they have to make our lives harder b.c we don't yet have kids?). I've been through 3 miscarriages over the course of our marriage, and I'm now 3 months pregnant after surgery etc. Should I even bother sending an ultrasound picture?

I initially sent 2 letters from friends who have known us for the duration or our marriage and before (both attended our wedding etc and we get together a lot) but he said something about it having to be an affidavit, does that mean I have to get a lawyer to sign it? He didn't say it was a form that was on the USCIS website.

Here's a picture of the relevant part of their letter. Any advice guys would help me. Our major issue is that we bought a house in 2013 under my husband's name alone b.c when my name was added the mortgage rates went up the roof. He's saying they still will and basically it's not an option to add me.. Should I insist we do that anyways in the price of our mortgage rate going up?

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear you were not yet approved, but you will get there eventually, dont worry! I would send multiple bank statements that cover the entire length of the time you've had the account in both your names. You dont have to print out every months statement, you can space them out 3 months (that's what I did at least) each.

We also did not own a home together or have any children at the time of applying for removal of conditions. I think I sent insurance, bank statements, proof that we had each other as beneficiaries on life insurance, plane tickets of travels taken together, photos, joint ownership of car, and other bills in our names.

Are you sure about your mortgage rate going up if you are added on the house? I feel like that can't be true, but I'm no expert. I would just double check that.

Awesome!! You're the 3rd approval of reporting this week. Do you know when you were actually approved? Approvals usually happen couple days before card production. Regardless one more approval for VSC. Congratulations!

Thanks! I was going to say that I didn't know the date of approval, and then I went outside for the mail, and the approval letter was there! Approval date is 02/29/2016

woohoo!!!! I just got a text message that my status had been updated! Check my status and it says that the green card has been mailed to me FINALLY!!

Walked in early for my biometrics appointment at a different ASC. I moved within the past 2 weeks and had been appointed to somewhere that is now almost 2 hours away, so I tried my luck today at the one nearest me and had no problems.

Received biometrics appt for June 2nd

I saw threads about this, but from 2007.

I would like to get LASIK, but I'm worried the side effects will be worse than my vision is now. See, my vision is really not all that bad. I can get along just fine without glasses, for the most part. My main problem is an astigmatism. I only started wearing glasses two years ago when I moved to Costa Rica and could finally afford a pair! So I know what it's like to not have to wear glasses and I want that back!

I'm mainly worried about dry eyes and night vision- the halo/starburst. I've heard those things can last for months to over a year and that kind of freaks me out.

So please, those who have had it done, is the dry-eye or halo bad? How long does it last?

(PS- for anyone who also wants to have the surgery done, I'm planing on having it done here in CR with a very reputable doctor for under $900 both eyes)

I had lasik a few years ago in Mexico. My eyesight was pretty bad so it was definitely worth it for me. Yes, you do have dry eyes for a few months (about 3-6), but really only in the mornings. You put on eyedrops first thing in the morning and it goes away (You are supposed to use eyedrops for at least the first 3 months anyways). I didn't really do any driving so I'm sure how bad the halo thing is at night, but when I went to the movies I noticed that I would see an extra line around subtitles which was a little annoying. It went away after a few months. I had astigmatism too. It's so great now not to have to worry about glasses or contact lenses, it really made my life a whole lot easier.

I'm in one class I sort of need for it now (along with doing Spanish, accounting, and Norwegian), but with the new university I am hopefully starting at officially soon, they've decided I need 4 more math classes to get the degree, which is a shame because by my calculation it was certainly less (other schools don't require things like that). It is only a semester of math, so no biggy. The local school here and me do not get along or rather the professor that insisted I was still pregnant after I had given birth because I was so big, teaches one of the very few classes I need to graduate and he is the only one who has taught it for 8+ years.

Yeah, my cumulative GPA is not pretty, over the last 5 years and 110 credit hours I think I might have a 3.3 or something, but before that, whew, I can't even hold a teacher licensure because it was so low. Yeah, no chance for me.

I was supposed to start my dual major at this new school and be done fairly quickly, but I missed that MN's residency requirements are stricter than ND's and I want to save 18000 or so with the reciprocity eligibility. So I'd have to wait a whole year more to go back to it. *bangs head into wall* Save 18000 or graduate sooner? I guess it doesn't matter, 12, 13 years to get a BS degree, aahh whatever. At least it will be a dual Norwegian/math this time.

I don't know why I am torturing myself with school and I'm totally rambling.

Yeah, I don't know why you're torturing yourself with school either. You are happier being a SAHM, and your husband is happy with that.. so what's the point? On the other hand, it's always good to have a degree, you never know where life is going to take you. So, if I were you I'd save the 18000 rather than graduating sooner (Whats the hurry?). I guess if you have the time you could take the actuarial exams, but no point in stressing out too much about it.

I took MFE (I had P and FM). I almost wasn't able to take it because I apparently if you're not a US citizen you have to bring your passport!! Hubby had to race home and get it for me.

Did you continue with your math degree when you got back to the U.S? Or what are you doing now?

I applied to about 70 jobs.. and I got interviews with three different companies (and then one more place emailed me for an interview after I had already accepted a job offer somewhere else, so i guess that counts too). I dunno, I feel like it was pretty hard to get a job. I had a 3.7 GPA, two internships and two exams (later three). The entry level actuarial job market is pretty tough right now. Oh yeah, two of the interviews I got thanks to contacts. Ultimately the job I ended up getting was one of the first ones I had applied to when I got to the US.

Hey everyone! I've been gone for a while.. just thought I'd catch you guys up on what's been going on with me: I passed my driver's license test on the second try in novemeber yaay haha, then I passed the third actuarial exam, and shortly after that I got a job offer in DC. I start In one week! I was in DC yesterday and today looking at apartments and we found one we loved! We are signing the lease tomorrow I feel like my life is really taking off now! Honestly I'm not too crazy about DC, but the job is great (it's exactly what I was looking for) and my co-workers seem really friendly.

I really hadn't gotten many interviews., I was starting to worry I was going to have to settle for a non-actuarial job.. so glad I found one in the end!

I had a company fly me down to Florida for a job. I enjoyed the break from winter, but had no desire to live in that part of Florida so I didn't take the job. If I didn't want to stay with that company, there was zero opportunity in that city for my career.

I'd love to live in florida.. anywhere warm really. It's starting to get really got in PA and it's only october!! I don't know if I'm going to survive the winter.

One place spent almost 1000 dollars on flying me in, putting me up at the Ritz etc. Would have been really cool to get that job

It seems like I'm really good at phone interviews though, because every time (ok the three times) I've had a phone interview I get offered the on-site interview.. Gotta work on my on-site interview skills I guess.

It's going... meh. I got to final stage interviews at two different places but at both places they ended up choosing someone else. I have another final stage interview in Maryland in november which I'm really excited about.. If I get another rejection I may lose my mind..
