Ahhh my dear Gowon I feel your pain I do. And it is just a dang shame. Where is this article I would love to get it.
I will stand next to you and sign, alert, yell from the tallest building. I am very vocal (If u haven't noticed). I can play nice but when it comes to me and mine awww naw it's on.
It's a crime what they are doing and they are just playing games. If you can site "For immigration purposes" on the denial and yet tell that couple you can go get married and what a year later you approved same said couple. Ummm what happened? Did your view change? It's just a game. They only made what another $738 so that can't be it. So what in the world.
If they were so afraid of scammers coming here and disappearing, open up more visitor visas to couples to meet and greet. Heck aren't they coming here shouldn't they be coming here and seeing whats up? And I bet no one would mind wearing an ankle monitor during their visit. See government knows where you are at all times. Izzy Pizzy.
I am so ready to write this is craziness. I already wrote to Obama, Romney and my reps when I was at USCIS (maybe thats why I got a 3 month approval LOL)
But I am more mad than sad and I am one ready for a get in your face and tell you how it really is. Trust me I have had this debate with stupid regular people. I have no issue or wahala dealing or taking it to Capitol Hill. We should demand a senate hearing on this. Let me see what I can do.
I know many on the Islamabad AP thread sitting for 1,2,3 years would love to take it up there. Everyone laughs at Nigeria and haha thats the worst embassy in the world all that fraud and yet Sally Sue from the VWP comes to US to visit her "Friend" and OMG a Ross and Rachel moment how did that happen we got married. Oh what do we do now can we adjust status so I don't have to go home. People stop the noise. I mean really. Let me stop before I really speak my mind.
I so don't need to be at work right now. I need to write now.

Amazing how that happens huh. You watch the news and anything about immigration has to do with south of the border.
When Obama opened up Visas for Vistors and Business he only opened it wide for China and India according to their speech they bring great business and money to the US. I see an influx on work visas like crazy from India to the point I am the only American in my work place everyone else is sponsored or yes illegal and the employer knows it. So what there are no skilled Techy people out there in the US (I am a QA Analyst)?
I grow so tired of the fact that families are the last to be heard most people don't even know you have to get a Visa that takes almost a year to get a love one here. You know lets just say you brought over a scammer who only wanted to get a green card out of you. Goodness worst things could have happened.
Sometimes I worry and get scared because OMG I am older than my man. And I guess to CO's women over the age of 40 are just to stupid, vapid, ignorant and clueless not to mention we are lonely, desparate (cuz why else would we go abrod for a man where there are good american boys here). So because they have deeemed us all these things they feel they need to protect us. Although the fat, old white guy who is marrying his Philipina woman 50 years younger doesn't even get a second glance.
Yep the system is way broken. And I be darn if people who may or maynot have had a good or bad day get a feeling I may or maynot be loved or in love.
Man see you got me worked up now. I need to write a letter now. Colin Powell or Obama may hear from me.

Well its a big room and yes there are security cameras everywhere. It's busy and you are watched. By the guards by the CO's. Just give your Hunnie something to occupy them. UI have two albums I made for him for the interview that he hasn't even seen yet of things he has missed throughout this process. He will open that soon as he is seated. And I hope he cries. LOL
Also I had given in his interview packet a "all about Houston" some CO's like tp ask specific questions about where the immigrant will be living so he has that. I have a zippy pouch of goodies (He loves Twixs and gum). I got the pouch idea from a VJ member.
Also there's a letter addressed to him and a card to open on interview day. So he will be very emotional I am sure. Should be good stuff. If they say "why u cry?" he can hand over the packet and see why.

I am assuming he is still in Nigeria?
Nigeria is a tough place to exist in, just getting up in the morning (after battling the night with Mosquitos), taking that shower (where is the water coming from, did he have to pull it from the well), getting to work or school or church (on the back of okada or even if he owns a car the cursed traffic is enough to drive one bonkers). So us as USC, well me, I take a step back sometimes when I'm dealing with my Fiancee. It's easy for me to sit back in my comfortabel environment sometimes and not watch my conduct with my Fiancee until I catch myself. For example, I've been on her to get copies of her school transcripts and I get pissed off at times. But when I realize that it's not like here where you can just saunter to the school and they'll give you a print out right away, then I chill out.
I am not making any excuse for him or his perceived conduct but I just want you to also realize that it's not just you that is apprehensive, he is about to leave everything and everyone he knows, his comfort zone to come to the US to be with you.
One thing for me as a person, I am not comfortable with you discussing him with your Ex, I am of the opinion that conversations with your Ex should be solely about the Kids that you have together. Does he know that you talk to your Ex in other than Kids relationship?
There's nothing wrong with being needy or seeking reassurance from your SO but is he on board with that in your relationship? Did you Guys talk about acceptables and unacceptables?
Weight is a big issue and it's generally not a good thing health wise (I'm overweight myself and working on it but what I do not do is BS myself that it's okay), is he okay with your weight? If he is then regardless of what his Sister says it shouldn't matter. He's not going to attack his Sister back in front of you like you probably want but if he is anything like I know most Nigerians I am certain that she and her had a good tete a tete.
Are his intentions true? About immigrations? I don't know since I don't know him. The benefits and opportunities that is available to even the most average American here in America draws folks from other countries (not just Nigeria) to consider things that they may not necessarily want to do (marrying older people, marrying outside of their faith, marrying without possibility of producing offsprings, etc). They may hide it for a while but it usually rears up typically after the GC is in hand. Does yours have the same potential? Only you know and I hope that you've done the due diligence necessary. Love, falling madly in love, etc on FaceBook IMHO is generally a disaster in the making, in my own personal opinion and of course there are always exceptions to the rule.
One more thing, do not shy away from your SO, follow your heart and don't play games. If you need to call him, do so. If you need to hear his voice, call him. Remember that he is going to be like your conjoined twin for at least the first 3 months (maybe less) when he arrives here. You two better be on the same wavelength mostly so that you and your kids have a stress free home life. He can't work, drive, etc, won't know where stuff is, and is going to be like potty training a newborn.
Good luck to you Guys. You've reached a milestone in your Visa Journey that most would envy, I know I do.

GAFL reacted to Gary and Alla in Mitt Romney Just Won The Election - Thanks To Hillary Clinton
What you say is true and what you say could be said of any complex government opertion that is an administrative function, and the DOS is an administrative function. Bottom line is the buck does NOT stop with Hillary. She can fall on her sword, the same way Brown did after Katrina but it was Bush that ultimately got the blame.
However, things being what they are, Obama supporters are not going to jump ship over this because, to be honest, most of them do not care. Yes, it is a scandal. Yes, it is an indicator of foreign policy weakness. Most people will say "so what?" and move on to the jobs or economy or whatever they are concerned with which is not the embassy in Ben...what? Where?
He will take some hits in the foeign policy debate and that may sway some undecideds and if he loses by a narrow margin this may be A reason...but it is not necessarily a disaster.

GAFL reacted to Captain Oates in The Rats are Bailing on Obama
So you want the bums to wait until there is another President ? I thought you wanted the bums to get jobs now
So that means you excuse then not getting jobs now because there are no jobs because of Barry
Romney wants to fire all public servants including the street sweepers - so the bums will have to get jobs as ....
...noodle boilers in his Chinese Factories !
Sorry to break it to you, but the swing states are strongly for Barry and the next President will be half white (again)
Can you really keep the hate simmering for another 4 years or will you do as Ted Nugent and end up dead or in prison ?
I can't work out whether I am a pro 'half black' voter or a pro 'half white' voter - either way it's Barry for me because I remember George Bush

GAFL reacted to Captain Oates in Marriage gap fuels Obama's lead over Romney: poll
abe lincoln ?
he went out and freed the slaves just to get the southerners angry
That's when the southerners were democrats
Abe was a confused republican and what they call "Off message" nowadays
The southerners were so angry they decided to become republicans and wreck it from the inside
When the northerners saw that happening, they became democrats coz they didn't want to be in the same party as the Southerners

GAFL reacted to Kazulie in You know you're Husband is African when.......
That's funny.
I've got a wedding planning story, too.
2 weeks before 100+ people from all over the country were scheduled to attend our wedding, our venue fell through. Holy hell. I wanted to die, to say the least. Through my blubbering sobs, we tried desperately to figure out a new place for our wedding. A few days later my husband comes home all excited because he has "the perfect idea" for our venue. This is how the story goes:
Husband KC walks in the house.
I'm a mess as I'm sure any bride would be a week and a half before their wedding with no venue.
KC: I have the perfect idea for where we can have our wedding!!!!!!
Me: Really?!?!?! WHERE????
KC: over by lincolnwood (a mall close to our house).
Me: Lincolnwood? Like, the mall?
KC: yeah, it's a restaurant in the mall. It's HUGE and has a big open floor for dancing!!!!
Me: but....in the MALL??? . The only restaurant I know in the mall is Ruby Tuesdays!?!?
KC: noooooo, not Ruby Tuesday's. This is upstairs. Right at the top of the escalators.
Me: (confused as #### look on my face) ...............ummm, are you talking about the FOOD COURT???? LIKE WITH ALL THE FOOD STANDS AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE BIG OPEN ROOM?!?!?!?!
KC: Yesssssssssss!!!!!
Me: (run into the bathroom crying).
OMG.... This guy wanted to have our wedding at the mother f'in food court!!!!! Now that it is over with and everything turned out great, it's a hilarious story. At the time, WANTED TO DIE!!!
