  1. I requested a copy of my divorce decree from the State of Florida. They sent me a "Certification of Report of Dissolution of Marriage." I submitted the document with my I-130. I got an RFE saying that it is insufficient. It says I must submit a document that says "Divorce Decree." However, the State of Florida does not provide such a document. I think I have to go the actual county (Leon County) to get such a document. However, Leon County has a pathetic web site and does not provide any information on how to acquire the document. I'll have to call them tomorrow. Hopefully it won't take too long. By the way, the Embassy in Manila accepted the "Certification of Report of Dissolution of Marriage" to prove my divorce when I applied for our daughter's CRBA.

  2. I received email today saying I got RFE. It didn't say why; I have to wait until I get it in the mail. I sumbitted more evidence than necessary for I-130 approval. So the only thing I can think of is they are giving me an RFE for the address problem. Has anyone every heard of them giving an RFE because of returned mail? Note: I had called them telling my mailing address was correct and then sent me an email after that stating they were resending the NOA1.

  3. I mailed off the I-130 package on November 25, 2013. On December 3, 2013, I received both an email and a text from USCIS saying that my case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center for processing and that I would receive Form I-797 in the mail. The email and text included my Receipt Number. I haven't received the Form -I-797 in the mail yet, so I went online to check the status of my case. It shows that the Post Office returned the notice as undeliverable on December 17, 2013 (yesterday). My address has not changed. I called USCIS and gave them my address (which is the same address on the I-130) so they will resend the notice. I also called the Post Office to complain. They took my phone number and said they will talk to the letter carrier about it and call me back.

    Will this delay my case?

Also, for timeline purposes, is receipt of the email/text from USCIS considered receipt of the NOA1, or should I wait until I get the form in the mail?

  4. The NBI Clearance has a top and bottom portion. The bottom portion is the "personal copy". I'm submitting the top portion to NVC in support of the DS/260. My question is, will my wife only need the bottom portion (the personal copy) for the interview at the embassy in Manila? Or does she need to get another NBI clearance so that she will have the top portion for the interview?
