I really need help in my case. My bf and I are applying for a k1 visa but we also want a ceremony here in my country together with my family and friends before going to the US. there will be no signing of papers and its just a plain ceremony. Will this be a problem in our application?

I was thinkin' about the same thing before. Just do a small ceremony get the CENOMAR(certofnonmarriage) after that. But I think it would be all non sense. Just wait till u get to the US then go back to your country for the wedding. Since I am a filipina, and none of my family members would be attending my wedding in the US. I just plan to go back maybe a couple of years after just so I can do my big wedding in the Philippines

Had the joy of receiving an e-mail stating that we received a Request For Evidence.

I'm not too worried as I have a feeling it may be something silly. I just hope it's not too involved for my fiance as he is currently deployed and not in the USA!

What is everyone's experience with RFE's? I'm interested to hear!

hi fellow vj member! I had an rfe too asking me to submit evidences of meeting in person and proof that we have met for the last 2 yes. I sent pictures only and I realized that after a month. I was expecting the rfe already. atvleast you know that they looked into ur case already, so its kinda a blessing in disguise. just wait for your hard copy. and dont forget to include the blue form as soon as you reply to the rfe

as soon as they received your rfe..your status will be "Request for Evidence Response Review" it will give you a specific date when they got it.

usually it takes 14days...but if it is simple rfe..maybe less than 6days...i got rfe too then within 9days(including sat and sun) got my approval around 9pm california time. goodluck!!!!!!

I dont even know if they received it already. the last thing I know is that, it was in San Jose,California 10 am pacific time last aug 7. then my fiance's brother mailed it again to the PO box of CSC. no idea if they received it or not.

I just got an update on the USCIS website. This was after I made the above response.

I received the RFE (very simple RFE) in the mail on Wednesday, then mailed the response on Thursday. It arrived on Saturday according to my tracking information and now it is Wednesday and they acknowledged receipt at VSC.

Just wondering. How long does it take for USCIS to update your case? may it be on accepting your application, then RFEs or Decision?

Hi! just wanna ask what date should you put in your RFE reply in your timeline? is that when you sent out your reply or when the USCIS changes your status in their website? kinda confused and I dont want to mess up my timeline too and give myself false hopes!haha thank you!

Correction, it took less than 2 weeks from sending the RFE response until NOA2. (it wouldn't let me edit)

i tried doing that too!! okay i actually did the long route of this reply cause all the papers are coming from the philippines. apparently fedex doesnt accept po box mails!! so I had to mail it to someone in cali. then they will be the one to mail it csc. what a journey!!! hahaha

Yes putting that blue cover sheet on top is key so that when they open the envelope and see it, they will give it a higher priority.

What has been recently recommended by other VJ members to another member in a similar situation, was to securely tape the provided envelope to the outside of the larger envelope, containing your RFE response/evidence, and mail it back in that manner.

You will likely be okay, if the return address you placed on the supplemental envelope is EXACTLY the same as what is on the provided envelope...

YMMV.

thats what I did. I actually scanned the original envelope, then printed a bigger picture of that then pasted it on the big envelope that I used. yes the blue paper was on top and i also inserted the small envelope they sent me. thank you so much!

Hi guys! i am about to send my rfe reply which is making me kinda anxious and very very careful with ff instructions. along with the blue notice, the white paper they sent me an an empty envelope with a po box in it. I read in uscis guideline that u have to use that envelope. apparently my documents wont fit because of its thickness. so what i did was stuff some in that empty envelope then used a big one for the other documents left and wrote the same address in front of the envelope that i used. is that ok? please comment!!! thank you so much!!! ?

I mentioned on Monday that I saw on the USCIS website an RFE. I thought it would be for the blue background on me and my fiancee passport pictures. It wasn't that.

It was for page 3 of I-129 application part C. I didn't answer the questions about if I was involved in domestic violence and other types of crimes. There were 3 questions. I answered no to all 3 of them and sent it off today. I recieved the hard copy in the mail yesterday evening. One page was instruction and the other was the page to respond. Both pages were blue in color. I made copies for myself.

I used tracking from postal service to see when they recieve it. It says it will take a minimum of 2 weeks for them to respond to the RFE when they receive it.

So all in all it was a really simple RFE.

It also included an envelope in which it was addressed to uscis, with a po box. should I use that envelope and fold all my documents to fit in there?vthank you!

For some reason, I missed the part where you wrote 2 photos included. Well no worries about the boarding passes since you have stamps and other things showing the proof of trips. I just mentioned the pictures in case that was something missing. No, there is no harm in sending more pictures. The more the better when it comes to RFEs. You don't want to give them anymore reason to doubt. Don't worry about the time stamps either. If you can just include dates and names on the back of them, that would be fine. Your overall package looks good to go though.

Looks really good! If you have any of the boarding passes from your trips, include those as well. You might have already done this, but include pictures of you together. Pictures of you with the beneficiary's family helps too. I think you are giving them what they need. Good luck to you!

thank you for that my fiance didnt keep his boarding passes too bad. ah soo Ill include pictures again? I included 2 pictures which has the actual film date. the previous ones that I sent were just all dated by me if thats the case and theres no harm, id still include some

Hi everyone! I have a dilemma and I would like to ask for your opinion. My fiance and I have been approved of our NOA 2 and I am scheduled to have my interview in Manila embassy on Aug30.

Everything has been set and prepared, the only thing I'm thinking about now is that I have been refused a tourist visa in 2009 and at that time I only wanted to visit my boyfriend then, in the US.

Will that affect my application? I didn't disclose that I had a boyfriend then because it was not part of the form. I was only asked if I had a relative or a fiance living in the US. At that time, we weren't really engaged yet.

What should I tell the consul when he asks me about my refused visa application before?

I was refused under 221b.. lack of strong ties in the Philippines.

I hope someone could lighten my burden. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue before. I applied for a tourist visa way back 2010. my biggest mistake was telling them im an going to my Boyfriend's sister wedding!(now my fiance) and they denied me hardcore twice!!! and now I am planning to tell them that because I got an RFE and they were asking for proof of our relationship 2 years ago! I wanna tell then u denied me nga 2 years ago that my BF is a USC now di naman kayo naniniwala! hahaha. oh life.

after you received your rfe hardcopy...run fast to your nearest post office and send it over night...make sure put some waiver so that no signature required..specially nobody will be signing it due to PO BOX not an actual office. just wait for your love letter from uscis it will be a blue paper ehehe goodluck!!!!

That was our big mistake also. She applied for her tourist visa first and mentioned me on the paperwork. Denied 2X. Seriously, you try to be honest and they deny you. I hear people just straight up lie and go to an agency and say theyre going sightseeing in New York and they get a visa.

Now we are waiting this looooong process in Vermont for being honest.

Lesson learn, when applying for a tourist visa, never say shes coming to visit a guy or she wil get denied automatically.

If only we knew before. then maybe we wouldnt have to go through all this waiting period. in the phily, one would always say they wanna see the snow and gets approved. oh life. goodluck on your journey. goodluck to us.

Hi sis. there is a family code, wherein 18-21 years old are asked to have a CONSENT to marry but if you are 21-25, you should ask them the ADVICE to marry. I have a form of the advice to marry since im still 24 turning 25. i can give you the link to these forms. they dont usually need to be handwritten as long as you fill out the forms and have it notarized and signed by BOTH of your parents. ?

Be strong sis Well maybe this is just God's way or test for you to be more stronger.I know life aint that fair, sometimes we experienced denials but not all the time.Who knows after you response for that RFE, your petiton will get approved na and besides you dont have to be frustrated about it,I will pray for your petiton to get approved soon as well as mine too :)We filipina's dont just accept defeat, we must try to stay strong so cheer up dont get upset,instead pray for it that there would be no problem again..
