  1. ay oo nga, i must have forgotten that detail at bumalik ka nalang pala. anyway, at least the sputum thing is done cause it is a bigger picture than getting ur vaccines delayed! hehe the sputum is like getting ur visa waaaaaay delayed! with that God speed on the interview! :)

  2. yes, i guess you are right. what didn't occur to me before this was that they will just right away assume i am pregnant without doing a pregnancy test on me first. plus the fact that even without the medical exam angle, my husband and i are actually already working on avoiding pregnancy. to be honest, i would have signed a waiver if they gave me that option because i am almost sure that i am not pregnant.

thank you for your well wishes. good luck to you, too! :-)

btw sis, doctors can actually predict more likely the percentage that u will get pregnant just by asking ur LAst menstrual period bonus would be the last sexual contact :) PT is just confirmatory :)

  3. Before I start, let me make it clear that I have never (or don't remember) ever reading anything here on VJ regarding this, hence, the total shock I had when I was met with this setback today.

This afternoon, I went back to St. Luke's for my sputum culture result. I was very optimistic that I'd finally get done with my medical exam because it has already been 9 weeks since I underwent the dreaded 3-day sputum collection and I didn't get the much-more-dreaded "early call" which most often signals a positive result. So I went and after almost an hour, I was finally called to the immunization room - doctor's interview (or something like that). After the basic questions, this exchange followed:

Dr: When did your last menstruation start?

    Me: September 14.

    Dr: When did it end?

    Me: September 18.

Dr: Any sexual contact since then?

Me: Just once. Last night. My husband just arrived from the US, ma'am.

Dr: (looks at the computer then her desk calendar) Oh no! You were fertile. We cannot vaccinate you now.

Me: Doc, we used a condom. It's true, Doc...we are planning not to have a baby until 2014 because we want to enjoy being just with each other first.

Dr: Sorry ma'am, using a condom is not 100% safe.

(I was starting to feel cold all over at this point...)

Me: Doc, please, my husband already extended his stay here to wait until I get my visa because I already have an interview schedule

Dr: Ma'am, this is not our policy. We really can't vaccinate you now because there is a chance that you are pregnant and it would put your baby at risk. You have to come back 2 WEEKS AFTER THE END OF YOUR FERTILE PERIOD WHICH IS ON THE 31ST OR OCT. 1. (since september ends at 30, obviously) When is your interview?

    Me: October 15.

Dr: (checks her desk calendar again) Wait, let's talk to the manager.

(she summoned another woman, the manager, then they discussed my case in front of me)

Me: Ma'am, please help me...I can't afford any more delay than what I already went through (referring to the sputum culture which really turned out negative). Manager to the Dr: She really has to come back on the 16th.

(I was too heartbroken to say anything.)

The doctor/interviewer turned to me with a mixed expression--slightly annoyed at me but also feeling sorry for me (my interpretation). Then she said, "Ma'am, you are expected to have your period sometime around Oct. 12. So you will have your interview on October 15 and then you come back here on the 16th then you will undergo another pregnancy test. (She noticed me having a blank expression so she said, "Ok, take time to collect yourself first." Then I said sorry and tried to focus. She said again what she already said and that's when I realized she said I will have my interview as scheduled. So I asked her again if I can really go ahead with my interview and she confirmed it but made clear that my medical record would show I haven't been vaccinated yet and will have to go back for it. This is when I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and said a big silent "THANK YOU!" to God. I thanked the doctor and she softened up and told me to not worry too much. Then I remebered to ask her what if I still have my period on the 16..should I wait for it to end before going back. She said, "No. The heavier your menstrual flow on that day, the better." Later I realized that is because it would confirm that I am indeed NOT pregnant.

Now, I do realize that this whole thing is all about making sure that my baby (if I am pregnant) is not harmed. I appreciate the very good intention behind the policy. What I am feeling upset about is that NEVER did anyone at St. Luke's advise me or anyone I know who is going through medical exam there not to have sexual contact while awaiting our medical exam result. To other people who are wiser than me on this matter, this might seem a given but I absolutely never thought about it. I just thought that if you ARE CONFIRMED PREGNANT, that's when you are not vaccinated. I wish they gave us warning or clear instructions on this. This is why I am sharing my experience so others will be warned. The best course of action is really to abstain from any sexual contact on your fertile period (and you better know when that is so you will have the right answer during your interview). Lying and saying you did not have sexual contact might be a good option to totally avoid any possible trouble but again, what if you are really pregnant?! If I had to do it all over again, I would still be totally honest during my interview. Then again, had I been warned, my husband and I would have had no problem putting off sexual contact last night.

At the end of the day, we still have a lot to be thankful for. My negative sputum culture result is a great blessing. We are just hoping that after my interview and vaccination, I would be able to get my visa in time for our planned trip to the US together. May God bless us all!

im sorry to hear that. but dont worry because some people didnt really know about this. my friend whom I went to the medical with had the similar case which hervaccination got delayed they waited for her to get her menses going first. not because she had a sexual contact prior to the day of the medical BUT her last menstrual period had been far from the date of her medical exam meaning her cycle has started already and judging from the date its between the fertile and ovulating period. So the lesson for this would be yes try not to have any sexual contact a day before ur medical AND the best time to do ur medical is after ur period. wala ng lusot yun! :) goodluck on your upcoming interview! :)

  4. OMG finally! But when I try to track her passport # or MNL number it says "invalid" :(

Hoping for her to receive it this week so she can CFO Monday/Tues and fl

thats what happened to me while tracking my passport in ustraveldocs I guess they are already updating their database thats why u cant track and i was right from seeing still with post for 4 days, then the next monday i tracked it and it says invalid after 2 hours I tried it again and it showed up in transit :) ur visa on its way soon!! :) congratulations!!!

  5. Thanks! My fiancee already has a CENOMAR that says for marriage purposes. I am not sure if I should get one for "Visa purposes." I really think it's redundant since the main purpose of the CENOMAR is to establish that my fiance is single. After reading the four-year old thread, it does not seem to matter. I will keep the one we have.

yes ur right with that. I even wrote for fiance visa requirements and it didnt matter at all. they dont really put too much emphasis on the purpose but rather the authenticity of the cenomar. if ur fiance recently got her cenomar tell her not to remove the receipt :) the receipt has barcode/number that matches the doc itself proving it was not tampered etc :)

  6. My fiancee is planning to get her sticker next week. Does she have to get a copy of her entire passport or just the id pages? And since you can't open the visa, what do you copy? The outside of it? (I haven't seen the visa so I don't even know what it looks like - but I know it is in a "do no open" envelop)

and tell her to bring the certificate (the one that looks like a bank check) that she got when she did the counselling. she has to hand it over for it to be stapled into her passport :) bon voyage to mrs. smiley! :)

  7. hi im going to CFO main office also tomorrow, i dont know wer it is , but i will just take a cab to bring me there... i will just have my sticker, im done with the seminar before my interview.. but CFO at st mary's transfered to the main office so no choice i need to go there even im not really familiar with the exact location..

if ur coming from manila, take nagtahan bridge then straight ahead reaching a junction which is the left going to SLEX (but dont go that way i just mention that as landmark)u will see this cfo building on the right. im sorry for a very vague road direction. but this is how I saw it when my dad drove me there :) dnt worry its hassle free since all u have to get is the sticker :)

  8. THANKS SOOOO MUCH Nikki! Though we're hoping for the BEST, our insights are still open for negative results.. We just dont wanna feel the same disappointment we had when my interview didnt go well.. I believe God will grant it to us in His precious right time! :D:innocent:

I know he will :) and Im actually waiting for your updates today!! *crossfingers* I hope everything turns out good! *hug*

  9. Yesterday was our interview..Felt very nervous, we were there 5:50 cause our appointment was 6:15! didn't have any sense of time when we were inside the embassy cause i forgot to wear my watch  . OMG..I think they forgot that we are there cause almost everyone there was finished 2 steps but us not yet..No f/p, interview with the filipino officer, as in nothing! We waited for 3 hrs i guess until we were asked by those people in blue uniform who facilitated the flow of the interview if we already went any processes, and told them not yet! They ask for our number. and waited for another 30 minutes i guess and then we are called for initial interview from a Filipino officer, she was quite strict.. :( made me more nervous, plus kids are fooling around...But manage it thru! She didn't asked for any documents from us since ours was new! She just asked for our pictures, letters, cards, money remittances and chat logs, and told me to make it ready and nice for the Consul to look at! then several minutes passed, did our f/p and finally waiting for our CO, this time i felt very cold! I wore jacket but the coldness seemed to have penetrated! I go back and forth in the cr to wash my hands since the water there is warm! Then saw our number flashed! This is it, I said to myself! We were in window 63 and the Consul was a young and pretty American! She made us swear and then asked for my Name and bday, asked what my husband do for a living and where he lived in the states..She complimented how beautiful Hawaii is cause that's where my husband lived! And he asked for my kids age, and asked them their dads name! She also asked about tarsiers since we are from bohol, thanks to my son who answered very cheerfully!  , then the Consul said we are good and just wait for her colleagues to call us! I was puzzled cause she didn't asked for the pics and the docs that the Filipino officer asked me to prepare! After few minutes we are called in window 71 and received our 221g white paper asking for my sons medical report! The guy said that if everything is ok with my sons docs we will receive our visa! Whew, finally we are done and over with our dreaded day..Hopefully our visa will come soon! Crossing my fingers and lots of prayer!!!!

congratulAtions for a smooth interview! the delayed medical results happened to me too! but dont worry your visa will be issued as soon as they get ur your son's medical report :) godbless and congratulations! welcome to USA!!!

  10. Hello everybody! Just an update about our case.. I called USEM information hotline and THANK GOD its out of the Fraud Prevention Unit already.. The girl I was talking on the phone said its already on "Final Processing" meaning its in the American Consul and to follow-up on Wednesday (09/26/2012) and that's when I will know if its approved and they will instruct me what to do next..   Me and my fiance are(somehow) happy coz its out of the unit where they think our case is just effin fraud. THANK GOD! But I still need your prayers guys.. Please pray for us that the consul will approve my visa so that I can be with my love.. (L)

happy to know that sis! hang on and keep the faith :) God knows what you have been through :) we'll be praying for you! (F)

  11. Good day VJers! I was browsing through the docs needed for AOS. my brother in law is the cosponsor of my K1 visa. During my interview I handed out all ths cosponsor docs to the Consul including an I-134 AND I-864 both filled up and signed by my cosponsor.

and I think I have it here with me in the Do Not Open Envelope.

    Questions :help:

    1) Do I need to submit another I864 again with my application for AOS?

    2) Does my brother in law need to provide the same docs like ITR, W2, Employment Cert, and Bank Statements?

thank you for generous replies. :D I am asking all these questions in advance, cause I will not have the luxury of time when I go to the US. *reviewing for the boards*

  12. I'm currently in the process of petitioning my fiance and so far, I have received both NOA 1 and 2 so I'm pretty thankful the application was approved :).

Now I have a question about the Affidavit of Support form, I-134. I currently live and work in the Philippines and coming across the I-134 form, I don't think I'm qualified to fill this up (since well, I don't have work or income in the US). I was wondering if it was ok to have my mom act as the sponsor for my fiance, while I would be listed as a dependent. I read about co-sponsors not being honored or something in the Philippines, but is my mom considered a co-sponsor here if we go this route?

We have a friend who also petitioned her fiance, was in pretty much the same position as me (she was a classmate of mine in college and didn't have work in the US), had her mom to fill out the form for her and the entire process was completed without any problem.

hi! good thing you cam across with this site because it tells you a lot about cosponsorship. I learned mine here and was very thankful to the people her ewho helped me through :) and now I am flying with my fiance on the 1st week of October to the US. I am the beneficiary of a k1 visa, and my fiance is a Fil-Am. Just like you, he stayed most of the time in the Philippines because we were actually reviewing for our Boards. Just like you again, he haass No savings, income etc in the US. And pointing that my fiance too doesnt have an income here. He just receives his monthly allowance. We used his brother as a cosponsor for our case. yes, US Embassy manila is very very tight when it comes to cosponsorship cases here. It is a case to case basis depending on the situation of the petitioner. For the last couple of weeks, I was the 4th one who got approved using a cosponsor. Just like my friend kinkyara, I used to 1134 both for the petitioner and cosponsor plus I asked my brother in law to prepare an I-864 just so if the consular officer will ask. Yes the petitioner fills up the I-134 even if it is not applicable to you and thats what my fiance did. everything was blank and all he did was signed the form. For the cosponsor, you need their ITRs(09-11), W2 (09-11), certificate of employment, bank certificate, recent paystubs of at least 6 months.

during my interview the Filipino screener reminded be about accepting cosponsor cases. But nevertheless, I still handed over all the forms (I-134, I-864 and other docs for cosponsorship mentioned above) and just see what the american consul has to say. Indeed he said everything looks good and there were no questions asked. :)

I hope you'll get something from this. ALways remember COSPONSORSHIP are allowed on a CASE to CASE basis, what may hold true for them may not be to you. so I think the best trick to this, is better be OVERPREPARED. You dont want to get a 221g just for missing some forms :) feel free to ask  God bless!

  13. my visa will be deliver here in the house, soon as i get it we'll drive to cfo to have the kids sticker, luckily they dont have to attend the seminar so even i go there before they close it will be ok.im staying in amparo subdivision.we are you at?

thats near sm fairview! my place is in novaliches. and yes ill just get my sticker too tomorrow. I am sooo done with the seminar! omg congratulations to us! finally the long wait is done. this is the ultimate feeling to have the visa on hand! :)
