  1. Hi everyone,

Great news!!!! my case has been forwarded to the U.S. Embasy/Consulate in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for expeditious processing and hubby has been sent an open appointment letter to appear on any working day at 6:45 a.m. I am leaving for D.R. in two weeks...... The reason my case was approved for expeditious processing is I am currently 23 weeks pregnant.....

Congrats to you both... Good luck..

  2. Ladies and gentlemen waiting for interviews for the Dominican Republic. I just got off the phone with NVC and was told that they received a notification minutes ago that all February scheduling is complete for Santo Domingo and they will begin to schedule March interviews the second week of February. Do not know how much is 100% accurate. Again this is what the rep I spoke to informed me..

  3. Thanks Mary89, I'm being optimistic and hoping I can still make the cut even if it's for the ending of Feb... Suerte!!

Just look at the positive side. We are all a lot closer then we were when we filed that i130. God knows whats best for us. If I get Feb interview GREAT!! If I get a March.. Still good.. Casi llegamos al final mi gente..

  4. Ok this msg is to my fellow DOMINICAN REP. member who are currently waiting on interview date as I am, I'm not sure if you where aware but NVC had a little power outage earlier today, But anyways I decide to call DOS, to find out what's up... I called spoke with a very pleasant lady sound like an older person, well the fact and matter was she asked for my info which I give, she was on the phone reading something in her computer took a few min to answer me and gets back on the line and state "I'm sorry to tell you but the American Embassy in Santo Domingo is very busy and it looks like all the slot for January have been all filled, and for the looks of it February as well is getting full, so unfortunately you most likely will NOT get a Feb date".. I don't know how accurate this is but if you guys want to get it a shot, and see if you get told something different.. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, As she told me "remember Santo Domingo is a very busy Embassy".

Honestly this isn't what I was looking forward to but at least its info.. I'm cool with it.. Waited this long a little more won't hurt..

    January Cases Waiting on Interview:

  6. If he's married, he CANNOT file as single. You have 2-3 choices: married filing jointly, married filing separately, or head of household (certain conditions must be met for this one). The foreign spouse doesn't need a SSN to file together. You'll apply for an ITIN at the time of filing. This is what I did with my husband for 2011 (tax year 2010). He filled out a 1040, I filled out a W7, then sent it in to the ITIN department. They assigned me a number, then sent the package to the IRS to complete the tax work.

Thanks for clearing this up for me as well. In my case I am petitioning for my wife and two stepdaughters. Actually 3 petitions submitted at once. Would I get an ITIN for my daughters as well and file them as dependents? Thanks.

  7. Damn I should have gotten married sooner.. Lived in DR for 9 yrs and have been with my wife for 6.. Never got married since never considered bringing my family to the states but situation is hectic over there and had to come to US all for the family.. Now I'm definitely going to get hit with that $590 for i751 since we just got married this past feb.. Thanks for the prompt response guys and clearing that up for me.

Since I also submitted i130s for my two step daughters will I have to pay 3 seperate i751 fees or is it like AOS fee where only mother's fee is paid?
