  1. We had exactly the same problem during the K1 process, just that it was the petitioner's birthdate that they had messed up at the NVC. It was correct on all forms and on the NOA's. My now-husband spent hours with them on hold, got yelled at and hung up on. They would not give us our case number, nor would they even talk to him, even though it was clearly their mistake. We e-mailed them all documents over showing the correct birthdate and asked for an expedite based on USCIS error... Of course, we did not hear back from them until two weeks later, when they merely told us that our file had already been shipped to the consulate. The consulate finally corrected the error. So yes, e-mail the embassy and make sure they correct it.

  2. I see. I fear I don't know what else could be the problem. E-mail the Frankfurt IV unit and ask for clarification. E-mails seem the best way to get a hold of them. (btw, I just checked the new K1 checklist, and it seems like their new e-mail address is FrankfurtVisaInquiries@state.gov. So ignore the other e-mail address I had mentioned earlier)

    Good luck! (F)

  3. Ok, that isn't the problem then. Did you get the tracking number from the consulate? Did they say they actually sent it off? Sometimes a tracking number is created before the shipment is actually mailed (at the time that the sender creates the shipment online). I would definitely send the consulate an e-mail and ask what is going on.

Edit: Thinking about it, if the shipment had been created, it would be in the system, either way. So my guess is that somehow the consulate misstyped something.

  4. Don't panick! Did you check Deutsche Post tracking or DHL tracking? There is a difference. My K1 visa package was delivered by DHL, not Deutsche Post. Deutsche Post tracking is very unreliable and does not get updated regularly, DHL tracking is a lot better.

PS: Did you try to send the consulate an e-mail to FrankfurtIV@state.gov? I always got replies very quickly from that e-mail address, once within 30 minutes.

  5. What do you mean about filing for child support? She isn't divorcing her husband (at least that is not her current plan), so there is no child support to file for. And if she did divorce, she probably wouldn't get any child support from him as it is typically income based and a sliding scale. I just ran through some numbers on a child support estimator and if he has $0 income, he would be required to pay $50/month...

As far as I understand from OP's post, the children's biological father is a US citizen, but not her current husband. That's why she wants to file for child support.

I really cannot contribute anything else to this topic, but OP, I wish you good luck. I hope your husband will step up and make sure you are taken care of while he is in jail.

  6. He will still have to remove conditions. When did he receive his conditional Green Card? Unfortunately, you do not have a timeline, and it is not clear from your post, either.

He will be eligible to remove conditions in the 90-day-window before his conditional Green Card expires (two years of permanent residency minus 90 days).

He won't be eligible to apply for citizenship until he has been a permanent resident for three years minus 90 days.

  7. Have you ever even visited America? I think that would be the first step you should take. Come on the VWP as a tourist and stay for as long as you can, or try a student visa as others have advised, so you can get a tiny glimpse of what it is REALLY like here. The media only shows certain parts of this country, and while I, as someone from a rather poor family back in Germany, enjoy the relative freedom I have here, all that glitters is not gold, either. By the way, Montana is beautiful, but unfortunately, there are not many jobs there. Your best bet would be state jobs or being self-employed there. Maybe tourism in certain parts of the state. But either way, good luck. Just stay realistic.

  8. Edmond's to the north of OKC (between OKC and Guthrie), Tinker is more to the East - South East. We're probably moving to Guthrie/Logan County next year or the year after, though - land is just way too expensive here in Edmond!

I really like the Tulsa area. There are all those awesome museums and old mansions all over the city, and you can actually walk or bike around downtown (which is almost impossible in OKC and Edmond, even though there have been some efforts to improve the infrastructure for pedestrians lately). We Germans like our walks, you know! ;)
