how long average does it take for nvc to complete a case once it receives the required documents for spouse visa

10 - 15 days.

So I got the approval letter(NAO2) from USCIS dated Dec 14 on Dec 16 informing that case has been forwarded to NVC. I have been calling them everyday in January who told me it takes 15 business days,apparently they haven't had 15 business days as of Jan 15(I know right....where can I sign up for this job!)

Finally,yesterday(Jan 16) they "received" the case but will take 15-20 business days for a case number. I LOST my mind, is this considered normal?? Are these people living in 2013,the age of iphones and 4g LTE, 50GB data speed! I feel like they have a typewriter upstairs with a 75 yr old typing these cases into the system.

I'm appalled by their service,are they held accountable for their jobs? The phone operator Jazmine goes "these time-frames are what it is and can't be changed,SIR", that put me over the edge,asked for supervisor contact and gave me nvcresearch email id and to put attn: Ben on subject line. I feel this is all waste of time with "Ben" being a fictional character that goes straight to trash. I told Jazmine,USCIS taking time to do background check is understandable but getting a damn case number from NVC in 2 months is ridiculous.

Waiting for your loved one is excruciating itself, dragging the process as simple as a case number should NOT take 2 months. Now onto my questions,I hope someone could shed some light into this

1. Is there anything that I can do at this point, should I proceed with an email to "Ben"?

2. Do they organize these cases based on visa category? If so,shouldn't my case be top 3 category?

3. If you want to complain about NVC, who can you contact, I want to do my part to make this process faster in future

4. Is NVC subcontracted by private firm?

NVC process takes 2-3 months from NVC receipt to interview, so be prepared with these and nothing can be done.

Hi, I applied I-130 for my husband. My case is already completed with NVC and now waiting for my husband interview date. I would like to know that is it possible to travel once my husband gets his visa interview date. Should I go with him at Mumbai for his visa call? I need a right suggestions. Thank you.

Mumbai don't allow anybody inside during interview except for applicant (your husband). you may go but you have to wait outside consulate.

my nae is akash and i got married in nov 2011 and my wife also apply my spouse visa for usa and my wife have green card of usa. my visa file submitted in feb 2012 at USCIS. its very long time processing till time my case status show in intial review and no any changes in case status.some people says its take 2-3 years to get spouse visa. i want to meet my wife.

any body tell me can i apply visitor visa for usa or not yet my spouse visa already running in process.

you can apply, but chances are almost zero to get visitor visa while immigration is pending

hey guys , i saw all those post n me n my wifey are in the same boat lol. we have subbmitted all req. docs in vfs on 8 th jan and its saying the same thing over n over again says that docs delivered to post , and we are also waiting for my wifey visa if you guys know how long its take or how they will contact you when u get your visa please let me know i really apreciates .

as per average they are taking approx 40-60 days (6 to 8 weeks)

A WHITE form is a complex category of 221G.They return the Case to USCIS for further Verification. (Reason of doubt not known).

Now open the USCIS site:

Register yourself as a Customer..

and you will get to know on the left hand site of the page:

On the left hand side, under My Account

. Click on My Portfolio

You will get to know on the last of the page something is written with star marks:

* Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email and/or text message notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

That means mine is showing still Ready but last status case updated on Jan 14, 2013.

Payal, i think this article is incorrect. Consulate send application back to USCIS only after DENIAL at consulate. our cases are just on hold due to Application Review/Administrative Processing.

The USCIS page your referring to is for when we file initial I-130 application with USCIS. USCIS have similar case status page.

Our cases are still in Mumbai.

I'm new to this whole visa journey and even though I've been reading through tons of pages and threads here, I'm a little confused now so I figured before me and my lovely man do something wrong, I'd better ask.

In the guide on the main page here it says:

1. The US Citizen files the I-129F petition for the foreign fiance(e) with the USCIS. The I-129f is filed at a USCIS Service Center in the US (where you file depends on where you live).

What excatly does this mean? When we click on the address buttons, we get to the USCIS website that shows this address:

My finacé lives in California. So does this mean this is the wrong address?

I-129 Applications are sent to Dallas Lock Box regardless of where you or your fiancee live. This is centralized location for K1 visas.

Pawan, they sent the 221(g) and passport on jan 9 to OFC and I got mail on Jan 14 at 5:30 pm..IST through email and Jan 15 I have picked up my passport and 221(g) from kolkata

thanks Payal, just wanted to check timings so when to expect emails from them.

Pawan my husband again called Dos..the guy told him that this returning passport and 221(g) is very normal in Mumbai Consulate. SO nothing to worry. Once they completed the process they will ask for the passport for visa stamping..Its simple 221(G)

but they have not returned our passport.

Tell me about it!!! The consulate is teaching us the biggest lesson of our lives.. The value of patience!!!

Let me share some sad news with you everyone...

Yesterday, I got mail from Ustraveldocs that your documents along with passport is ready for pick up. I then called up ustraveldocs and even chat with them and they said yes my passport is ready in kolkata for pick up. Conveyed this thing to my Hubby and he called DOS...first time he got reply, that embassy sent a mail and not email to payal..I asked my hubby, mail?? Embassy will not send me any mail, may be to OFC location and is it 221(G) letter, hubby said, she only told me that it is a letter, nothing else. I had a sleepless night and even 2 more times he called DOS and then he got reply that my case is still under adm. processing. So we both were kinda mentally prepared. Even I checked my status and it is saying Ready still but case update date updated on Jan 14, 2013.

Then today Jan 15, 2013 went to Kolkata to pick up things and I only got one 221(G) white letter along with my passport and nothing else. They didn't send my 2 albums, and other associated documents.

That letter is a simple office proforma mentioning that my case is still pending under 221(G) and it is under administrative processing and when the case will be completed, they will contact me.

The bad part is, it is becoming a financial toll for me. Because I am from Durgapur and next time for passport submission, again I have to go to Kolkata for submission and then again for pick up. Atleast they can hold my passport...It almost like 3.5 hours for me to go to kolkata.

I am at day of 44, 15 more days to complete 60 days....lets see how it goes..Not sure, how to react...doesn't feel like to cry either.....

- in email body if you keep first line as blank and 2nd line your passport number

you always get reply as "Passport Picked up" that is incorrect they have a bug in the system.

if first line is passport number, i always get no status available.

after 3 months of her arrival to USA you can file I-130 and I-485 (Adjustment of Status) together to sponsor her green card.

I just called DOS, they said processing is almost completed and I will hear something within few days.

However; nothing is certain, in October we were told...few days....I guess 90 days count as few days for immigration purposes.

Thank You Pawan. I was so tensed. My husband just called me and I told him the same story. He said wait for this month at least. Same thing whatever you told me.. So getting a little sigh of relief.

BTW, my status is still showing "Ready" only the date updated to jan 9, 2013, but may be in their office, the status has been updated to mandatory AP. Quite Possible.

I called DOS, they also said 221g document Submission and Administrative Processing is the same thing. this status means they are still revewing out docs/file. All is Well.

My husband just had his CR1 visa interview today in Mumbai. They took all documents from him and informed him that they will notify him in 5 days. Unfortunately my husband did not question them why. I thought they would tell him the result whether it is approved, denied or need more documents. I am so confused and worried now.

Does anyone have any idea of why they are holding the documents with out telling the result. Please advice.
