hi pawan,,, please do answer my this question as no one can answer on this forum ,,,because ur wife she recently got her visa .

pawan as we check status ,,it shows ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING , BUT later

1)what if they approved the visa does the status changes ?? if yes to what ?

2)it is changed to issued after they printed before we recevied the visa in hand does the status changes or after we receive in hand as it takes 2 days to deliver to our lacation.

please please do answer my question

1) As soon they approve your Visa the status on CEAC website will change to "Issued"

2) Then they print and stamp your passport and mail it to you or your pick up location, it takes about 2-3 days to get visa in hand after status changes to Issued.

Yes, he did call up and they said it was ready for pick up. He will go on Friday to pick it up.

no harm in contacting senator and congressman, my lawyer told me that it put gentle pressure on them to do your case. in my case my lawyer, senator, congressman and myself all inquired about my case.

It's okay, I understand. I also got emotional few times. Especially, when my husband said to drop everything about 221 or the consulate. At one point I cried. So, I do understand.

But i will say that consulate will finish everything within 60 days. Swehun's, Mr. Pawan's and mine were done round about 60 days.

I truly hope you too get your visa b/4 your 60 days are up.

one more thing visa packet envelop will have 1 corner cut with documents peeking out, so don't freak-out it is normal.

We choose to pick it up at nearest OFC. I will let my husband call b/c he was so frustrated that he did not want to talk about 221g or anything related to it, it depressed him a bit. So i'll let him give me a good news.

Yes, my wife arrived on Jan 24th. Now we are in other hassles of school admissions, waiting for SSN and Green card .

Meeting our beloved after such a long wait is moment to enjoy. You all are going to live that moment very soon.

once you get tracking number you can find location of packet from blue dart web site.

US Embassy called me for passports re-submission. I submitted the passports (mine, wife & kids) My passport arrived exactly after 14 days with H1b stamped. But wife & kids passports have not arrived. What could have been the reason?

Note that we all went to Visa Officer together. I was a H1B applicant and wife & kids were applying as H4 dependents

Please replyyyy ....

possibly they were issued 221g for additional processing, contact US travel docs.

Dont congrats me yet. I have to know 100%, that they are not teasing me with glitch, like in Payal Sharmas Case.

Our 221G is for PCC i sent it on 12/3/12 and its been 64 days. So i wont relax till we have visa on hand.

Though, I will keep you posted.

Call US TRAVEL DOCS Help Desk and ask for blue dart tracking number, its possible that your passport with visa already arrived at pickup location.

similar thing happened in my case as well, i called then they gave me tracking number for blue dart and my wife was able to pick the package, we did not received any email or text message from us travel docs.

My best wishes to all waiting for 221g to clear.

my wife picked up the visa on 3rd day after CEAC website showed status as Issued.

Hello all,

I want to claim my wife as dependent on my tax returns for 2013 and since she has never been to USA and not eligible for SSN at this time I am applying for ITIN no. But the new rules say that they need original documents of my wife(passport) or copies certified by issuing agency. My wife's passport was issued in Mumbai and I am not sure who issues the passport or where to go in order to get the copies certified by issuing agency. Anyone on the forum has idea which agency or which departments certification would be considered the right one ????

Also, are they still accepting documents notarized by US Embassy??? As far as I know they need only original documents(passport) or certified by issuing agency.

I am confused and I dont want ITIN application to be rejected. Please help if anyone has idea ..

Issuing Agency in India is Regional Passport Office.

The foreign spouse does NOT have to be present in the USA for any sort of time period. Back in 2011, while I was still in Canada waiting for my visa, my husband filed our 2010 taxes as joint (since we were married in 2010) and I applied for the ITIN. We had no problems of course.

I was married in 2012. My spouse didn't get visa approved until January 15, 2013. Will be entering US next month for first time.

Can I file my 2012 returns as "joint return"?

to file joint return he has to be present in USA for more then 6 months. also you will need his SSN or tax id in order to file.

so not for 2012.

I checked for SSN on DS-230, but I had to visit SSN office to apply, then got it within 5 days.

If your SSN doesnt arrive within 3 weeks, then you can visit SSN office to apply.

We checked an option to apply for Social Security Number while filling DS-230, do we have to apply for SSN while in US or it will come automatically based on DS-230.

Hi people

I got my approval on dec 6 and subsequent letter from NVC giving my fiancee a case number and telling her that my interview would be scheduled at New delhi consulate on dec 17 2012. However we have been waiting ever since for the packet 3 & 4 and havent even recieved any information regarding this. We emailed to the embassy and the visa sections and all they told her was to wait. Just wanted to be sure if nothing is missing from my side and how long does it usually takes for them to send the packet 3&4..any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this has been discussed earlier, but need some clarity.

I have the package ready and want to send it tomorrow. I don't have the transcripts but have copies of the joint return. Will that suffice ?

Has anyone got an RFE for sending returns instead of transcripts ?

After Getting an Email From the NVC saying that we need to Send some Missing paper work a Police and Court record.

My Hubby got his Police and court record and I'm just a Little Worried to write on the Civil Documents.

The Letter said

Please include a copy of this letter with your correspondence and write your case number clearly (exactly

as it appears below) on the upper right-hand corner of all documents.

anyone had to WRITE on there Civil Documents and Is it Ok I know the letter said to, I just dont want the NVC to Reject my Civil Documents.

use pencil or post-it notes.

next day is very difficult, you may get 2nd day if yo are lucky. best bet is home delivery or nearest pickup location, you will get in max 3 days after interview.

I am still confused about passport pick up and visa packet. I am thinking of staying in the place where we are going to have our interview to pick up passport. Do you guys think they can give the passport next day? how about visa packet are they going to mail this packet or by hand in the embassy ?? Please clarify who had interview before?

Got this information from USCIS site:

7. After Your Visa is Granted

If you are granted an immigrant visa, the consular officer will give you a packet of information. This packet is known as a “Visa Packet.” You should not open this packet. Upon your arrival to the United States, you should give your Visa Packet to the Customs and Border Protection officer at the port of entry. You will be inspected by a Customs and Border Protection officer and if found admissible, will be admitted as a permanent resident of the United States, which gives you the authority to live and work in the United States permanently.

8. Receive Your Green Card

You will be mailed your green card. If you do not receive your green card within 30 days of your arrival, please call the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or visit your local office by making an InfoPass appointment. Make an appointment by visiting our Infopass page.

its your personal choice, but you will have option to ship it to your home by paying Rs 300.

if everything is alright you may pick the visa at interview location in 3-4 days.

whether you pick up or get it delivered you will get your passport and visa packet together.
