Hello all,

My mom will be going in for visitors visa interview in Hyderabad, India. I am a US citizen and I will be in Hyderabad at the time of her interview and I was wondering if I can enter the consulate with my mother for support. I heard that with US passport one can enter consulate without problem. Is this true?

Hello guys, I just wanted to update on this so that someone in the same situation can benefit. My sister attended the interview on Monday and I am delighted to say she got the visa. They just asked her why she was abandoning green card and that's about it.

Thanks for replies. Yes, she herself is going to apply for visa. My mother was former green card holder as well but when she went for visitor visa interview they asked her to renew green card. I am not sure what the process for green card renewal in case if they tell the same to my sister.

I am applying for a tourist visa for my sister. She was green card holder before and then moved to India for good. I was wondering if this will have any affect on tourist visa approval.

why is this required at interview ? as this was already sent with AOS?

After the change In the process they are asking to see the transcripts/W2s

They specifically asked for my 2011 W2 in my wife's interview. So its better to carry transcripts as well as W2s

Thanks for the reply sravan. I am tracking that but Silver packet has manila packet which say do not open. everybody in this VJ get manila packet. Silver packet just the mailing or protective cover but I was expecting a Manila packet not silver. would you mind finding out what sealed packet she got? your help will be greatly appreciated.

She got Manila packet and it does have "Do not open" on the top.

How long did it take for them to have your passport ready for pickup? I am thinking to buy ticket for my wife after she gets approval.

I hope you have received the passport with the visa. I just have an question please share when you went to pick up a passport did they give you silver packet open or closed? Thanks

Tycoon, what I heard from my Wife is that she was given her passport and a sealed packet. I am not sure if it was silver Or not but whatever packet they give you it has be sealed and can Only be opened at POE by immigration officer.

Hello all, my wife's visa was approved today. Everything went smooth. They asked her for my 2011 W2. Visa and passport Will be delivered to the pickup location and they did not want to deliver to the home address.

The question asked were:

Who is sponsoring you?

Where does your husband work?

How do you know each other and for how long?

How do you communicate with your husband and how often do you speak to him?

When did you get married and how long was he in india after the marriage?

Can you tell what he did last weekend?

Can i see the pictures?

Interview was done in 5 mins.

I would like to thank VJ for helping us and keeping us strong through this tedious process.

First of all i would like to thank all the VJ number for their help. My wife Interview went smooth. It took only 5 minute. 5 question asked.

1 What is your husband name.

2 How did he go to USA

3. What does he do.

4. does he have any relative in USA

5. is she have any relative in USA.

My wife had to ask if Visa was approved because IO and Translator kept talking. Translator said visa was approved. IO was standing during the interview and translator was standing on his seat. My wife said everybody interview got approved there. It seems like they were in hurry. thanks again VJ

Sravan thanks for your prompt response. I spoke with helpline and they are lost. Just to let you know my wife already deposited a document delivery fees at VFS and they took her address. I really do not know if i had to do. Your wife interview in Delhi or Mumbai?

Her interview is in Mumbai.

If you already submitted docs to VFS then I think there is nothing to worry about. Keep in touch with VFS through the whole process as it looks like you are going to follow old process.

Ah OK. Not sure what could be the problem. Did you contact helpline?

What my wife did was after login, choose IV address registration -> select visa class(CR1) -> you will see the info , then continue -> enter your passport info, address and so on -> documents pickup info -> the next page i think should be the confirmation page. Hope this helps.

Website is now functional. It wont let us choose home address as document delivery choice. I guess they want us to just pickup.

I do have the confirmation page printed out but to give you step by step guidance I was trying to get on the website but it does not get connected and redirects me to some other US travel website. So hopefully whenever I am able to get to the site again i will update you asap. Sorry for now Tycoon. It is very simple if you choose the right option from the site's left side menu bar.

I have the same problem. Whenever I try to access the website it redirects me to some ####### website. I am accessing it from US. Hope they wake up and fix this issue.

Thank You for the link. it says passport is in progress under u.S consulate. any idea how long does it take for it to receive passport?

I am not sure. Try contacting Consulate or visit VFS office near your area for more information.
