  1. I prefer a written guide.

If I would watch a video, I would have to write down everything that is required to send within the packet - so why double the material already available to us?

Buy hey - if that's the way you like it, go ahead and post some videos - I will definately watch them.

Maybe there are people here who'd prefer a visual :)

    Good Luck

"If I would watch a video, I would have to write down everything that is required to send within the packet - so why double the material already available to us?" - That certainly would be a waste of video. Because there are written down instructions that detail what you will need for a specific form. I was addressing to a video more like for example: The way you should organize your I-129F packet, and certain things like that, which are better to grasp in a visual form IMO.

Sure, there are written examples. Not for every form, but there are nontheless. You have people that spend sooooo much time digging in different threads or looking at one plain written example, just to fill out ONE form. Now imagine a simple 8-10min video showing you exaclty what to write down. I am certainly the kind of person that perfers a visual example.

About doing a video myself, hmmmm... I don't know, I could certainly try, but i'm sure there are skilled people in this big community that would man-handle that like butter :dance: It is a good idea though...

  2. I was wondering why no one hasn't thought of this? A visual image speaks louder than words - when it comes to this stuff. So how come VisaJourney members haven't done an official youtube channel for short and straight to the point videos to help people fill out all these different types of forms. Also, videos on how to, for example: assemble a I-129F packet the correct way, how to keep petitions short with all the required evidence, for faster approvals, and etc...

Is there a specific reason why VJ admins haven't done an official Youtube channel for videos like this? And if this were to be applied, who would be willing to spend some time to make some videos? These videos could be submitted to Admins of this wonderful site, and then added to the VJ youtube channel. This would extremely help out TONS of people. If I would have seen a short video on how to quickly assemble a I-129F packet, I would have sent my petition maybe 2 months earlier. It is just a thought, so what are your opinions on this?

  3. I'm at a loss of words bestie. It is too shocking to even think about it. But i hope you know damn well that you're an amazing person, and extremely lovely. You go out of your way to help people. And like me, i'm sure there are lost more you have helped. I wish i could say something that would help mend the situation, but it wont.

Be glad that you found out sooner rather than later. Look at this as an experience, something to be learned from, not put down from. This will get better for you, and only worse for him, since he is do one who truely lost his chance at true love. Do what you have to do, and do it with your head held high in the sky, and never look back!

  4. NO!

For one thing it is not a hassle to change your name on the card after you have a green card in that name for example. Not at all.

An SSN is very important for many things, least of which is work. Bank accounts, insurance, education funding, etc all require an SSN. Get it soon. Change the name later if you want...or don't, it really does not matter. The SS card is not a form of ID, the number stays the same regardless of name.

Alla used her SSN several times in the first week she was here. In addition to our joint account she opened an individual account at a credit union, deposited some of her money there and was given a MasterCard with a $500 limit in her own name, therby beginning to establsih her own credit. Within 1 year that limit was raised to $1,500. She now has excellent credit.

You have to get your head out of this "visa/immigration" process and think about the process of LIFE in the USA, and that requires an SSN.

Ahhh... Nicely put  You do make a very valid point. The number does stay the same. So yes, it is better to get your SSN ASAP, then worry about making changes later on. Thanks for the reply

  5. OMG. I graduated in 1973 and somehow managed to make my 10 year reunion before anyone even dreamed of facebook. How did we do it??????????

Facebook isn't an issue, it's like any other social website. If there is something you don't want other people to know, don't post it on the internet. IMO.

Obviously it is possible. How would it be illegal if they do it on public forums? The consulate can do pretty much anything they want, it is a non-US citizen outside the US, it isn't like the 4th amendment applies in the PI.

I was referring to the petitioner, is it legal for a US Embassy to kind of "spy" on the petitioner? What other methods do they use? phone logs, text messages, online forums/social sites? I'm pretty sure they do some digging on beneficiaries though. Which is fine because in reality, it only helps the petitioner know if they are being used.

  6. THe letter i recieved was pretty vague about who they accused of chatting with whom..but my immigration lawyer believes they meant she was chatting with another..since as an american i am the only one with rights during this process.. but its funny, cause they said "4 months" well we both chatted with many others for the first couple months to see who was the best fit.. so who cares if one of us was chatting another..silly to ask if i still want to pursue the petition approval, since i was the one to pay all the fees, for medical and embassy interviews, plus pay for hotel... OF COURSE I WANT PETITION APPROVED... we have only waited 1 yr... dang.. so silly..

So you don't know how the Embassy found out you/she was chatting for 4 months with another person? I mean, is that even possible/legal?
