Why do you have to update your SS? even those that kept same name have to do so?
US Citizens have additional benefits. The best is E-Verify, which is an internet based system that allows businesses to determine the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Well, Thursday Adam and I will go to the SS office and do the name change then to the drivers license bureau. Probably next week sometime he will do the Passport request.
Check with your DMV before he goes. Maryland requires to see the Social Security card with the new name on it in order to change the name on the drivers license. For me it was faster to get a US passport, which is the perfect ID to change the name at the bank and more.

Congratulations Joker69!!!!

Excellent news!!!
-
I had to redo the FP and it took them 2 months to figure it out.
-
You didn't keep your old passport(s)? You need to bring those to the interview as well as the other required documents.
-
I'm happy for you lucy4.
Joker69 - any news in your case?
-
It depends in which state you reside. In Maryland you can stop by the SS office any time after your oath to change your status and name (no fuss). The MVA in Maryland didn't want to process my name chance (DL) unless I had my new SS card in my hand. I left Maryland 6 weeks after my oath and I just applied for my DL in California. The DMV here only wanted my SS# (not the card) and my passport was plenty to prove my name, even so my Maryland DL shows my old name.

Ontarkie - congratulations!

If I was you, I would get the fingerprints done and see when the interview will be scheduled for, which could be sooner than you think. Passing the interview doesn't mean that you will take your oath the same day, depends on the local office.
If you have an upcoming international flight right after taking the oath, you can get your passport in a day at a passport office. Check online if a passport office is close by where you are.

One day you have to share your story with me, sounds so mysterious. BTW I'm on my way to Managua today.

The yellow letter arrived Dec 17.
-
I expected to be done end of January based on other people timelines. My better half was done end of March, it took 5 months from the day the application was filed.

I agree with ChetT. Baltimore is much slower these days.
-
I don't think that you qualify. Absence of more than 6 months may reset the clock of counting continuous residence. I would double check before you submit your application..
-
No restrictions for international travel. Bring the details of you trip or trips to the interview (date left, date returned and country) and it will be added to your application. Same applies if you travel after your interview, you will provide the detailsto the officer before you take the oath.
-
Remember to take your driver license or state issued ID.

when on my InfoPass today and it's the Same old story still under review....Nothing else to but keep on waiting
I think you should get legal help.

Lady's and Gentlemen, I'm a U.S. Citizen.
It didn't go well at first and it was rather stressful because my name change request wasn't done (again). Calls where made and my request was quickly approved by the court right there. I was allowed to attend the ceremony and became a U.S. Citizen. After the ceremony I was asked to go with the IO from the court house to the federal building where my certificate of naturalization was written. I'm very glad this is over. Monday morning I have an appointment at the passport office in DC because I'm leaving this weekend on a trip.
What a ride!
