Thanks for elucidating on the matter or question rather...my local office is in baltimore and i am filing 90 days before...its almost 5 years for me liks really near as we speak!

My GC might expires before I can take my Oath and I need to travel international the week of the expiration date. Is there such thing as getting a month extension on the GC?

Got a letter stating fingerprints expired and need to get another one taken within 90 days...will be heading out to get a new set taken tomorrow or the day after. Hopefully, things will get going after this!

But here is my question: I thought fingerprints were good for 15 months, so they are really not expiring till April 30th 2012 (Taken on Jan 30 2011 for ROC), but even if it the fingerprints were only good for 12 months, then they had already expired January 30th 2012, so USCIS waited 2 months to tell me that my fingerprints had expired???

Unbelievable! They seem to go thru some changes and what ever I read didn't seem to apply to them anymore. I'm really afraid how long it will take to hear from them again.

I passed the test and interview went well. I added a traffic ticket during the interview, which has to be signed off by a supervisor first before a decision can be made. I'm one step closer and very happy.

I received the following email last night: Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. :dance:

I wish it was my time this week. I got screwed because fingerprints weren't accepted, I had to go back last week and I'm now inline for the interview scheduling since January 11.

In my job, we attend the oath ceremonies once a month (those are held once a month). People before entering to the oath auditorium are required to show their passports, USCIS officials check them to see if the applicants were out of the US after the interview. People who has travel out of the US within such period are not allowed to attend the oath ceremony.

I do not know why but that is what I have seen in such ceremonies. Please be careful giving advice.

Marymoon, thanks for the comment. I will certainly ask the IO after the interview. If you are right, I will push to get my passport done quickly. I think that there options as long as you can pay for it.

Ohhh I can't wait to see the letter, but from what I see here there will be two letters??? And not all instructions say the same thing? When it says state issued ID, is that for verification or verification of where you live? My DL replacement is from CA, official and such, but even if it were my real DL, it would say I reside in CA and not in WY (military is allowed to have a state of residency different from where you are stationed).

And you are sure that you cannot get a real (plastic) DL sent to you by mail? I don't know all the details, but I'm assuming that they are looking for something with a photo and your name on.

It crossed my mind yesterday that we have to surrender our GC before we take the Oath. Oh well, I wasn't in a huge rush, what is another week or two after so many years. I had June 2012 as a goal set, but once you are so close, it's hard not to want it done.

Please update my timeline since I will mess up the format....

Today I received the yellow letter asking me to bring my state-issued driver's license or state-issued photo identification card.

Today I received as well my interview date, which is January 17, 2012!!!!

To bad that I cannot take advantage of the same day oath that is offered in Baltimore since I'm leaving a few days later on a trip to Europe and I don't think that I can travel without a US passport, or can I?

Guys could you please tell me how much time did you all wait to get an interview letter??? Does anyone know what is the maximum and at what point do you call INS to follow up to ensure that the case was not lost or misplaced???

It all depends on your local USCIS office. Go thru the past (April - August) N-400 filers and see if you find someone who filed with the same office. I have filed with Baltimore MD and I expect that it will take up to 5 weeks until I receive the interview letter. I also realize that I have 3 major holidays in my timeline (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years), which may add a week or two to the whole process.

I think that I will be done early to mid February if all goes well; still in time before my 10 year green card expires.
