Well, no screaming yet lol. Adjustment of status takes around 4 months on average. If you live in a busy center like Florida or New York, it might take even longer. But what is a few months compared to years? Keeping my fingers crossed
By the way, I got news from Loudoff, he was also doing adjustment of status and he had his interview yesterday and got approved!
So happy for you!! Immigration party here we go!

Guys, I just wanted to tell you all that I picked up my package at DHL this afternoon, at exactly 4:57 PM (three minutes before they closed).! It took just two days to get my visa since it was issued. I never expected I'd be out of here only four days after my interview. I booked my flight, which leaves to NYC tomorrow morning. I've set like six alarms to make sure I wake up. (My flight is at 6 am.)
I'll still be lurking around from time to time, to see how the rest of the gang is keeping on. But things are moving along, and what was once a dream has now finally become a reality. You all will get to share the feeling of finally becoming a Permanent Resident of the USA! Woohoo!
All the best to all my VJ crew!

    Yes, it's very frustrating.
I'd be surprised if they let F2b advance ahead of F1 though. I hope they would be able to reallocate some of those visas to F1 if it got to that point...is that even possible?? Citizenship has always been flaunted as the quickest way to petition your family so they'd have a lot of very unhappy citizens to making a stink otherwise.

I'm feeling positive for some good movement for the December and then the January bulletins. I think we'll been seeing 2007 dates by the time the new year rolls around.
I was looking for a "fingers crossed" emoticon but can't see one, so I'm using this... in anticipation of the good news coming our way!

Leo7777, this topic has F1 in its title because it refers to a particular preference category, or ranking, for those people waiting for an immigrant visa on the basis of family relations. It has nothing to do with an F (dash) 1 visa, which is different. You may be interested in this (taken from the website for the Department of State):
    FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES
First: (F1) Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: 23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference.
Second: Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents: 114,200, plus the number (if any) by which the worldwide family preference level exceeds 226,000, plus any unused first preference numbers:
    A. (F2A) Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents: 77% of the overall second preference limitation, of which 75% are exempt from the per-country limit;
    B. (F2B) Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents: 23% of the overall second preference limitation.
Third: (F3) Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: 23,400, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences.
Fourth: (F4) Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens: 65,000, plus any numbers not required by first three preferences.

I'm really, genuinely happy for you. You have no idea. We've all shared in the ups and downs of the journey together that it feels like a brother who's finally going. I truly wish you all the very best.
I'm going to Jamaica next Sunday and my medical is on Monday. I now carry the torch of your journey.
What state will you be in? We should have a drink or link up to say hello.

The unemployment rate in Spain is 25%. For those under age 30, the unemployment rate is more than 50%. Also, it takes money to move to another EU country. Moving isn't free.
Higher pay, but no prospect of a job in Spain = the US as the better option.

First and most important, how does any of this help the OP.
Second, she may not have overlooked anything, he may have been that good at lying (we all know people who are)
Third, making up statistics is a juvenile way to get attention
Fourth, the use of azz while taking about others level of education only shows your ignorance.
Lastly, I take your entire post personally offensive, I have no higher education, I am by your standards "well to do", I choose to be with my fiancé because she is exactly what I need in my life, not because I am a "beta male", or live with my parents. I have a full time job, NEVER been without one since I was 16. I don’t date American woman for my own reasons.
Please don’t attack anyone just because you have a bone to pick or are not happy with the chooses you have made, we are here to help each other not throw stones

NevermindVz reacted to R & M in Filed AOS package, no receipt notice, email, checks not cashed - when do I worry?
Wow, almost a month??? Definitely e-mail nvc at lockboxsupport@dhs.gov. Include the form number, receipt number (if known), applicant name and mailing address. It also helps if you have some sort of delivery receipt to let them know the day they received it. Do NOT include A-numbers or social security numbers in e-mails.
I posted my package on 7/30 and they only acted on it after I e-mailed them 12 days later. So, definitely write that e-mail! Good luck!

Hubby talks in a low voice when he speaks in English ( he is a pretty soft spoken guy), but the moment he is on the phone or Skype to Italy... Switches to volume 812 million decibels! Like literally SCREAMING that they can hear him without an electronic connection... I am always like, what did you say, I can't hear you? But the moment he is on the line speaking Italian I have to tell him to stop shouting!

NevermindVz reacted to Anna Grant in How to request to expedite your EAD based on a job offer
I thought I would write this up as I was successful in expediting my EAD.
Called USCIS on 1-800-375-5283 on 4 September.
Said 'I would like to expedite my EAD because I have been offered a job and cannot take it up until I have the right to work in the US'
I was given a list of reasons as to why my expedited EAD may be considered. These reasons are:
Severe financial loss to company or individual Extreme emergent situation Humanitarian situation Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government) USCIS error Compelling interest of USCIS I selected 'severe financial loss'. I said that I had been unable to work due to waiting for the K1 process to finish - I was made redundant. I said that whether this could be consider severe or not was open to opinion.
The person at USCIS then read back to me what she had typed up and told me that someone would be in contact with 5 working days. She gave me a reference number for my request. She said there was no guarantee that my request would be granted.
On 9 September I received a letter from USCIS requesting that I fax them proof of my job offer, together with a reference number and also to fax their letter. I did that the same afternoon and also included the state exam and license I had taken in order to get the job offer. I also included a cover letter.
On 10 September I received an e-mail to tell me that my status had changed to 'card production' for my EAD. My AP was updated about 2 hours later.
I thought I would write this up as I've noticed a couple people saying that they've managed to expedite their EAD because of a job offer but did not explain how they did it.

Those of you who have degrees, post on LinkedIn your resume. There are quite a few recruiters looking for IT workers. No one on my team is looking for work but we get interview calls without asking every few months. And our company KNOWS that people are trying to poach us. Also remember that having a job makes it easier to get another job, so try not being picky.
Try meetup.com in your area. There are many amateur groups that teach new programming languages, IT skills, business networking and other job skills. Rub shoulders and network. Many of the people there own their companies and are looking for workers. Granted many are looking for someone "cheap" but better to have SOME US work experience than nothing.

Did he mention that he has a GC on his resume? Usually with the H1B cap reached, they might just see a foreign name and think "he needs sponsership". Mention the fact that he has a GC and see if that helps?
