i wish you the best in this awful situation. one door closes, and another one opens.

  3. not one mention of the "benefit" of the tax deduction of all medical expenses. that comes right off the top of your taxable income and also makes your taxes less.or mention of mortgage interest deduction.

this is a family friendly country. even if you are working poor ....

and for those of you in your 20's.... stop worrying about getting sick. if you are in good health for sure. i gave up on insurance after my first wife died. me and my 3 kids made it thru. 1000 a month or the odd trip to the dr for 60 to 100 a month. i cant afford insurance but as needed for the usual minor ####### at the dr...well i can afford this and i get tax deductions on it all.

i think this country can afford to do better on covering the poor and the sick. but commie obammie and his way is not the solution.

  4. for example the A-10 can carry more bombload than a B17 of ww2.

and can deliver with a very high level of precision.

also factor in collateral deaths and damage and aid after the conflict costs.

Weapons and national defense ARE the responsibility of the federal government. The rest if this nonsense is NOT. Cut what they are not responsible for first.

Costs of weapons systems are irrelevent unless one considers also the reduced cost or a much smaller military. ONE plane with ONE bomb can accomplish more than 100 airplanes and 1000 WW2 bombs. ONE plane has 1 or 2 crew, compared to 10 for a WW2 bomber. we rarely lose a plane in combat, it is so rare it is big news if we do, in WW2 65% of planes did not finish their rotation of 25 missions

ONE F-117 and its crew of two men can easily equal the destructive EFFECT of 100 B-17s, B-24s or B-29s

And now we have cruise missiles and drones which can take out a bridge without risking even ONE life. what is that worth? what is it worth that collateral damage is reduced to virtually nothing compared to earlier wars?

For all the whining the Dems made before Obama was elected about the "death toll" of Americans, there were more people killed in ONE DAY in WW2 than the entire 10 years of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. More people were killed to capture tiny islands in the Pacific.

we can send a missile through a window halfway 'round the world and take out a high value target by pushing a button in Missouri. We can send in a small team of specialists, undetected, into a house in Pakistan and shoot Bin Laden twice in the head, take his body out and dump it in the ocean before anyone is the wiser. With -0- casulaties

What is that worth? What would it have been worth in WW2? What would we have paid to save 200,000 Americans lives? 300,000 lives? Even 400,000 lives? What if the ships in Pearl Harbor had a Phalanx system? How many men would have been saved? What would it be worth?

we have less than half the naval warships we had just 30 years ago, is that cheaper or more expensive? Is it cheaper or more expensive to supply the crews for less than half the ships?

  5. welcome ben!

    Hello fellow VJ members,

I'm just beginning my immigration journey.

I met Katie while working at a summer camp in New York state. We travelled up and down the East coast together once camp was finished. I planned to continue travelling and go work in Toronto but I re-entered on my tourist visa and we spent more time together. 9 months after we met, I proposed and we spent the Summer on a around the world trip and my new fiancee met my family in Australia.

I visited in September and we have decided to get married in a couple of weeks (New Years Eve Eve in NYC) and then I plan to adjust my status to get my green card. I'm looking forward to sharing my journey with you all and giving input into the VJ community when I can.

    Cheers,

    Ben

  6. welcome to the fray thomas!

    Hi,

My name is Thomas, I am 33, and should marry Michelle, a Kentucky born delightful woman next June.

We are currently in a K-1 visa process, and after looking for some answers, I ended up here, and foudn quite a bunch of interesting readings.

I cannot wait for this "new" life over the pond to begin! But I guess we just have to be patient...

    Cheers

  7. congrats!! well done !

Kathlene had her interview in Louisville yesterday. We got there 30 minutes early and turned in her letter. Her appointment was at 1:30 and she was called right at her appointment time.

    th

She was back there about 15 minutes and came out & first told me she failed, but then smiled and showed me her paper!

They just asked a few questions about her application & then went to the testing. She got 100% six questions correct in a row, read one sentence & wrote one sentence. Then they told her to expect her oath ceremony in about a month!

As soon as we got back to the car she called her mother in the Philippines & told her. Her whole family was still awake waiting to her about her interview.

Thanks again for all the help & info available on this forum! It is better than any lawyer you could hire!

  8. and saturday her time she got our corrected form and her pictures mailed out.

so....i think maybe by friday next week our papers will be on the NVC desk or in their mailbox!

i had to re do a ds 230 page because i had put a 2009 in her residence history instead of a 2001.

we are making progress and excited! she is excited and worried something will happen to stop or delay us further.

on a good note my error on one digit and my forgetting to send all the documents are the only problems.

i said dont worry :) we be fine !!

  9. hey it happens. dont beat yourself up over this.

    LOL

I am expecting all of you to call me a dim wit LOL

I have been checking my status on the USCIS website and it has always said, 'YOUR CASE HAS NOT BEEN FOUND'. This disturbed me as I filed in Jun 2011.

Anyway, after my conversation with the straight talking USCIS lady today, she told me that I was using the wrong reference number to look it up..

She told me, and this is where I believe she thought I was as thick as doggy doo, 'you must use the APPLICATION NUMBER that is on your ASC BIO appointment letter, not the RECEIPT NUMBER on Receipt Notice...

Sure enough, she was right...... LOL

As I said, please don't laugh at me... ha ha ha

  10. i d watch out for the slander there buddy.

he has never been accused of an attempted hijacking.

would YOU want any wild accusations against you if you had a run in with the law?

Effort to repeal California Dream Act comes up short

Critics of illegal immigration announced Friday that they were unable to obtain the needed 500,000 petition signatures to ask voters to repeal the California Dream Act signed into law last year by Gov. Jerry Brown.

In an email to supporters, Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-San Bernardino), the public face of the initiative drive, said petitioners had netted only 447,514 signatures to submit to the secretary of state by the deadline on Friday. They would have needed to submit well above the 504,760 threshold because some signatures are inevitably found to be invalid.

The law allows illegal immigrants to qualify for taxpayer-funded scholarships at California's public university systems.

"This is disappointing news," Donnelly said in his email, but he added: "It is no less of a warning to Governor Brown, and every Democrat legislator who voted to create a new entitlement program for illegals while the state still has a budget deficit over $9 billion, and cannot even meet it's obligation to legal California students."

It's been a rough week for Donnelly, the Assembly's only tea party legislator. On Wednesday, he was detained by police for trying to board a plane with a loaded handgun in his briefcase. Donnelly said he forgot the weapon was there.

  11. i post the number 3 and the letter P

Where is this risk or danger you guys keep talking about? Post some numbers, please.

I've posted several sources of danger all worse than firearms yet theres no call to have those thing banned. Why not?

you can have 25 felonies on your record. and still buy a pool.

In a way yes, you need a planning permit for a swimming pool in most jurisdictions and both the pool and property must meet safety requirements.
