  4. We dont know yet if we are staying or not. I have applied for a bunch of jobs but it's harder than I thought. Most say I am overqualified for administrative positions and I dont have enough experience for most of the positions that require a master degree. So still job hunting :/

  5. Hey! How is your new life going? Any luck with finding a job yet?

  6. Green card Approved! Interview in Santa Ana CA went good. BYE BYE USCIS! (at least for another 2 years :) )

  7. Green card interview tomorrow! It's crazy how fast time flies. I never thought we were gonna get here lol but we did! (there is hope guys!)

  8. Got my EAD yesterday and went to the social security office today. They said it can take up to 4 weeks before I get my social security card. (I Hope not!) To get my drivers permit DMV require that I have EAD and social sec. -hurry up! :)

just wondering.. why did you wait so long with getting the SS card ? I got mine 2 weeks after arriving..? Is it some kinda Cali. law that you have to have EAD or something ?

    4. didopage

      didopage

Not a kind of Cali law, I requested mine in CA after 2 weeks too, and got it a few weeks after.

I know. I love New York. Just never imagined that I would be living there. Well West Point is like 80 miles north of NYC but I'd probably have to work in NYC and commute by train. He got an amazing offer and I would feel terrible being the one to stop him from pursuing his dreams. BUT if we go, he promised we will be back in Cali when we start having kids lol!

Just another bonus, Norwegian Airline will launch a new route from NY-Scandinavia next year with their new Boeing Dreamliner. A roundtrip ticket is expected to cost about $300! So if you move to NY, you'll be able to visit DK a lot cheaper :)

  16. Good luck on your interview! :)

  17. Quick question. My AOS is still on acceptance stage and it has been more than 5 weeks since NOA1. It says in the text on the USCIS site that the acceptance stage should take 2 business days. Should I be worried that it hasnt moved to initial review? I had my biometrics already and my EAD/AP is on initial review stage

    1. Harpa Timsah

      Harpa Timsah

Not to worry. The online system is unreliable and doesn't work like it says it should. It's totally normal. It will probably still be in "acceptance" after you are approved.

    2. YJPlove

      YJPlove

I agree.USCIS website is unreliable at times and sometimes won't even update :/.Don't worry about it :)

    3. didopage

      didopage

No worries at all, I got the same thing for AOS, and EAD and AP were on Initial review.

  18. Waiting to regain my independence! LOL! (I just wanna be able to work, drive and travel) #Not the stay at home type!

      YJPlove

I'm in the same position, I'm hoping that once the employment card and AOS wait is over that'll be the last of the difficult waits behind us...

  19. Biometrics tomorrow! Finally! :) Hoping for a speedy EAD/AP approval

  20. Having one of those days where I really miss my family, my friends my country etc. I am very blessed to be with an amazing man in a beautiful place. But that doesnt mean that you can't have a bad day. Immigration can be tough

No driving license here either...I got so many amazed look from americans when I told them I don't have a license. But in the USA, it's like a must.

So I guess driving is not highly "necessary" in Denmark? (there's also a lot of people who don't have a driver's license in Paris, but I was not living there!) :)

  22. Hmm I don't remember that form. But when you sign the form/checklist that I emailed you, you also confirm that you are willing to take the earliest available date. And yes, I did get "package 4" via email. It's basically just telling you the date.

  24. It breaks my heart to read all the sad stories on VJ about failing marriages, abuse, lies etc. I have an amazing husband who loves me and treats me like a queen. Everybody deserves that! Claim it!

Same here... In a way, that makes me realize even more how lucky I am to have found my husband! :)
