  1. Having read every Indian consulate review and having combed through the posts of as many Indian couples on VJ that I could find, I have determined that the couples who get the most grief include one or more of the following:

    1) The US petitioner is not of Indian descent

    2) The US petitioner is the female, the beneficiary is the male

    3) You are not both of the same religion. If you are the same religion but not Hindu, it seems like you go through a background check more often. If you are not the same religion, your relationship is likely to be questioned more thoroughly which may or may not result in a 221(g) for more evidence.

    4) The female is older than the male.

All of these items are not cultural norms in India and therefore generate more scrutiny. If any apply to you, just be prepared. Luckily for you, you're not a K1 fiance visa applicant. Those who are already married seem to get less of a hard time than those who are engaged...I guess it's because they figure you're already married and there's nothing they can do about it.

Read the Indian embassy reviews over the past year and pay attention to the ones at your embassy for the marriage visas. They will give you lots of examples of what you might expect.

Thank you so much for sharing the valuable advice,it is really gonna help me alot, in my case

1)I am a muslim woman married to US man (of Indian Origin)(my husband lives in US with his parrents and I lives with my parrents in India)

2)there is no caste difference bet us

3)My husband is older than me

4)Mine was an arranged traditional marriage both my family and my husband family was present at the time of our wedding.

5)My husband is financially good enough we have no co-sposor he is working from last several year

6)I am a software engineer working in an IT company

7)We got married in Feb my husband was here for a month after that he is not able to come to India because of his Job so our relation is limited to Phone calls, email and chat.

8)My husband extended relatives is here in India.

Do you think in my case is there any point that i need to be worried and how should i prepare for the interview like which kind of proof will be of most important for me?

I will be eagerly waiting for your reply.

    Thanks for your kind help

    Regards

  2. 1. If you can get affidavits this would help too. You mostly need to satisfy the CO, as USCIS will not really validate your relationship.

    2. Yes you can. And as you said proof that you are intending to return.

yes the evidence that you have mentioned is enough but it is always recommended to be on the safer side submit as many proof as you can

  3. It seems that in case of mumbai consulate the main reason of are:

    -Where there were divorces involved

-Where there was very less evidence sent in I-130

-CO smelled fishy on income front.

    - Either party is not of Indian origin

    - Relationship originated from online courtship and doesn’t have parental blessing.

-contradiction in the details submitted at different point.

    - Large age gap or women is older than man

    - Previous marriages

-applied for k1 visa with lacking detail of engagement ceremony guest lists etc

-mostly it happens in case of love marriage of Indian man with higher age women

  4. Yes we are seeking a CR-1 and have already sent the DS-230 in as well. My only concern was the last thing listed "document check list". Thank you for your input on the Ds-156 and 157 forms. I agree with you. I think that a lot of where the confusion is comming from when instructions are not specific to a particular visa and are just for spouse/fiance visas in general.

Do you know anything or have any opinion or sugestions about the DS-2001, and wether it is needed in my case are not? i am afraid that sending it if not needed will cause delays but also afraid to not send it. it says in bold letters that an interview will not and can not be scheduled until they have recieved it?

Though it was mandatory few year back say 2006, 2007 when the consulate use to schedule the interview date at that point of time you were not supposed to sent DS-230 or any document to NVC, consulate use to receive all these documents. I don't think this form is used anymore or is required... what you require to submit to the NVC is....Document cover sheet, 2 passport photos,DS-230 Part 1&2, Copy of passport biographic page, original birth cerificate and a copy, original translation of birth certificate, original marriage certificate and a copy, original passport police clearance. When you print off your cover sheet iv bill status is showing after that their will be a link to what exactly they want.As you are submitting all the documents to NVC then most likely you do not have to fill out DS-2001 since NVC will schedule your interview date.

  5. Probably I will be having my interview in December, I am the wife of US citizen from India.I have been working for a Software company. Now due to different time zone it is really getting tough for me to communicate with my husband as at the time I leave my office my husband enters his office in USA so the only time left to communicate with hubby is early of the morning when I am getting ready for my office :( . I want to resign from job (also I want to spend some times with my parents before leaving for USA). I was wondering will it affect my interview in any case. I have to give a notice period of one month so in any case i will be free from my work only by the End of Nov. Please advice

  6. I just paıd the ıv packet. ıt just saıd ıs ıs process should I sent ıt wıth the receıpt or just waıt untıl saıd ıt ıs pay

you must wait till the status is Paid....as you have to send it with the bar coded sheet.Once the status is paid you will get a link of Bar coded sheet just print it and sent it with iv Packet..in the mean time you can collect all the Original required for iv packet
