Again, it has nothing to do with Trump.

I recently sent off my N400 package and then applied for my concealed carry permit a week later in a "shall issue" state. I was called by the county yesterday and told to wait for my NOA before applying.

How did you get your carry permit before submitting your N400? Maybe its different in your state/county

Back when I was applying for my K1, I was asked for my original birth certificate......I never saw it again!

I had to send off for a certified copy but the original was lost forever. It hasn't caused me any problems having a certified copy but to think I had the original for 30 odd years only for it to be lost by somebody else is annoying

Sounds like the OP had no plan on coming to stay or get married... if she proposes while he is here and they do marry, then he can adjust status as it was not planned..
Now if the OP has things back home he needs to deal with, perhaps the K-1 is a good route. The OP could go home and take care of his ordeals while the visa processes.
If he can just stay here with no issues then go for it. Again does not sound like it was the OP's intent at all to come get married so we can't say that it would be fraud.

Of course he can stay and adjust, once married.

If she's free to marry (don't have a waiting period after divorce) you can either get married and start the CR-1 visa and then you go home and wait takes about a year. Or you can start the K-1 process while you are there and then you go home and wait the last couple of months before it gets approved.
You can't stay and adjust status since that would be fraud.

Are you serious? When did he EVER say he doesn't want LEGAL immigration? I would think after being in this process you would understand how precious an AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP is. Of course some you know what they say. WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS THE TRUTH AND DON'T LET FACTS GET IN THE WAY.

Hey Darren, I'm about a month ahead of you and had the same shock regarding the medical. Every doctor I contacted wanted me to go through a full medical at a cost of $300+. I finally found one that wasn't on the civil surgeon list (but is still approved by the USCIS) thanks to another VJ'er who was willing to offer a transcription service only for £30 plus then offer my missing jab for something like $15.
I urge anyone who is about to file for AOS to fight tooth and nail with the civil surgeons as they know that you have to get their signature for the AOS process and will charge you for a full medical even though you dont need it. I walked out of 2 doctors offices on the same day as they wanted hundreds of dollars from me for a medical, x-rays and blood work that I didn't need....its all about the language you use when you call to book an appointment, say you want a transcription only and see what there response is.
I'm in Southern California and it was a major ball ache for me but I finally found a doc in Riverside who sorted me out and was familiar with the process.
I'm currently waiting on my EAD, AP and conditional green card after having my bio-metrics appointment exactly 2 weeks ago......not working is a killer aint it?
