  1. hello again! we will have our interview this coming january 30,2012.my question is:what is an appointment letter?where will i get it? how many pages is it? is appointment letter the same as the email i got from the embassy when i scheduled our interview?

Yes. The Appointment letter is the email you received when you either set your appointment on the phone or on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/

The letter should be one or two pages. It will have the Appointment confirmation Number and date for interview etc..

    1-appointment-confirmation.jpg?w=501&h=7

and one more question: my daughter (k2)wii go to the interview with me.will she also fill out the ds form/what specific forms will i prepare for her?

Did you set your daughter's appointment date with yours? If so, you should have a appointment letter email with confirmation number and date for interview.

i am so confused and worried. thanks vj'ers for the inputs.

oh,i forgot.my fiance will accompany me at the embassy.is he allowed to join the interview or al least stay inside the building with me.thanks again.

Yes your finance can be there within the building and at the counter. The consulate may ask him a few questions. This is your interview and the consulate will mainly ask you the questions. Depending on what time your appointment time is, petitioners are only allowed in the USEM after 7:30 AM. Upon arriving you will fall in line with the K-1 appointments. The petitioner will go on a separate line show his passport and go around to the security check. Then wait for you on in the waiting area. You will also go through the security check.

They will give you a ticket number before going into the building. Look on the digital number board for you number to flash/called.

If your daughter has the same date as you they will either have a separate number for her or they maybe bundle mother and daughter together for processing.

Make sure you carry no electronic devices (mp3 players, cellphones, any electronics. If you must carry your cellphone. Hand it to your fiance and have him check it in at the security check. They will give him a card to pick up the cellphone when your done with your interview process.)

    NOTICE TO VISA APPLICANTS

Cell Phones Not Permitted on Embassy Grounds

For the safety and security of all applicants and employees, visa applicants are not permitted to bring cell phones or other electronic devices into the U.S. Embassy. Applicants who bring such devices will be denied entry. Please make arrangements to leave your electronic equipment in a safe location off Embassy grounds during your interview appointment. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation.

  3. the lipoma suggestion was a great help and we both feel thats what is. Saying to pray and hope for best kind of ticks me off!

I apologize :( if my words sound insensitive and not of the medical advice you wanted to hear.

All I was saying is that a little prayer and going to the doctor will help the mind body and soul. If my wishes and advice is unwarranted I will not give further advice.

Again, may your fiancee get the doctor's prognosis and get a diagnosis on what the lump is.

    God Bless you and your...

The following is from the CFO website:

The following forms may come in handy:

Sworn statement that advice of parents or guardian has been asked. (for those who are 21-24 years old)

Consent to marriage of a person under age. (for those who are 18-20 years old)

Marriage applicants who are age 18 to 21 must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry). The revised Family Code of the Philippines, which took effect on August 4, 1988, prohibits marriage for individuals below the age of 18.

    U.S. Department of State link.

The quote above is from the section where they are talking about getting married in the Philippines. However, the CFO has been known to require parental advice or parental consent from K-1ers.

It's all on the Consular's discretion whether they require consent from a parent or guardian.

  6. I wonder sometimes about this so called Visa Lawyers!! :bonk:

The Visa process can be done by you the petitioner and beneficiary. My personal take on this is, Visa lawyers are only need when you have a extreme case. When your from a watch list country (terrorist countries) or have a complicated past with marriage, arrest, huge age difference.

You only need to do your due diligence and research. Visa Journey website has a gold mine of information and answers available for you for free. Not only that, you have other in the same boat with different stages of experience in the Visa process. Take advantage of the information and resources at your finger tips!!

I would suggest dumping the lawyers and save yourself a ton of money. They are doing the same things you would do but for a premium on your dime!! Unless your super busy and don't have the time. Then stick with the Visa Lawyers.

If you need any help or information, myself and VJ'ers are here to help you through this :D

Any questions Just ask and someone will definitely answer you.

    Good Luck and God Bless

  8. We went to the Social Security Administration today (December 28, 2011) to apply for my K-1 Wife's Social Security Number. We had all the necessary documents including the marriage certificate. We were told that the Social Security card would have to be issued in her name as shown on the VISA unless we first changed her name to her married name by recording our marriage certificate with the Department of Homeland Security.

My wife files for her Social Security two weeks after arriving here in New York. We received the card in 5 days. We are now married and will submit for name change on the Social Security card to her married name now. I am wondering if you can just submit with her maiden name then wait to receive the social security card. Then submit a name change to her married name. Total process should take from 10 - 14 days but I suggest calling Social Security Administration for detailed information and options.

Social Security representative between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, call our toll-free TTY number, 1-800-325-0778, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

My questions are these. One, is this correct and two, how do I record our marriage certificate with the Department of Homeland Security?

    Thanks for any help provided.

I am not sure on the process or how true it is " recording your marriage certificate with the Department of Homeland Security. ". Maybe other VJ'ers may have more information on this process...???

    Good Luck and God Bless!!

  11. Hi Denver422

The were a few VJ'ers that asked this same question about age of consent. CFO website does not list this on there website or its just hidden. Here is the requirements if asked for consent

    > If you are between the ages of 21-24, CFO may require you to submit a letter of parental advice to marry.

    > If you are between the ages of 18-20, CFO may require you to submit a letter of parental consent to marry.

  12. $3600 :bonk::blink: :blink: :blink::no:

All of the documents they are requesting and work can be done by you for a fraction if not waaaayyy less that $3,600!!! :wow: The Visa process is costly enough. Lawyers!!!

You will need to get the original documents again. Then send them again to your fiancé. Pain!! (I-864, tax returns, pay stubs, photographs, EOR letter etc)

As for the photos if you have them in digital format re-print them at Wal-Mart, Kodak etc. Don’t print them on you color printer!

Lawyers for Visa process are most effective when you have extreme cases. The Visa process for the petitioner is a Due Diligence process, Home work, research and love for your wife and daughter.

Have your wife contact EMC for tracking on the package. This is just in case you are able to obtain that mail. If not, start getting those documents together ASAP for the embassy.

Statements from both of us regarding our ex-spouses,

    How we met,

    How long we lived together,

Number of children and reason for divorce,

Copies of my passport showing the entry/exit stamps (which I front loaded and sent), but they want every page notarized,

Photos of my wife with her daughter during her childhood etc...

You will need to comply with all requests in the 221g form. What it will cost you for gathering all these documents is a lot less then what the lawyer is asking for. They will do the same things you would do!!

Other VJ’ers will chime in to assist you with more details and suggestions.

    God Bless and Good Luck!!

  14. Q. my question is he sent me all in photos copies.. is this ok????

    Federal Income Tax Information.

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.

    Q. and the itr he did not signed the itr.... can this affect my visa approval????

I am not 100% sure if it needs to be signed. It should not make a difference his social security number in on the 1040EZ forms. If some else confirms if a signature is need. Then have him sign the 1040EZ and fax to you there.

    Q. what do you guys think?

I think you will be ok with the forms you have now. But its always good to make sure 100%. Last thing you need is a AP or 221g form.

if anybody else can shine some light on this would be help to ruizloi.

    Good Luck and God Bless!!!
