NVM, about my previous post. I wasn't thinking straight when I first filled out that form, so I redid it for my fiancee.
-
-
My fiancee just received Packet 3 from the US Embassy in HCMC and I was wondering when it would be the best time to send her the money for the Visa application MRV fee?
-
On the same form, when it says date of marriage (Item 18), is it OK to put when my fiancee and I had our engagement party? If this is incorrect, I will have to tell my fiancee to redo the DS-230 by hand (I typed it out and mailed it to her).
-
I have put a 0 as well, so I don't think it will really matter. As long as something (0 or N/A) is written, it should be OK.
-
Such a LONG WAIT but congrats

Even though I got an email from the NVC about my case number (in response to an email I earlier sent them), I yet have received a hard copy. Plus, I called the DOS about if HCMC received my case file and the lady I spoke to couldn't give me a direct answer
-
Is there anyway to see if your Embassy received the K1 package? I contacted HCMC via email about a week ago and still no response. I realize it is the VN New Year being celebrated soon and everyone is off work, but I am not sure how to track my case #.
-
I wish my fiance would return packet 3 already! He's had it for a while now
also, I suggest to everyone to start gathering stuff for the I-134 ahead of time. I'm an idiot and procrastinated- thought it'd be super easy... and then I find out I don't have copies of my tax returns and my employer refuses to write a letter.
I already filled out the form, just received the letter from my employer (just need to get it notarized, and get my taxes done next month.

Hi all.
Just wanted to update all my fellow July filers...
Fresy's interview went fine. All our documents were in order, neatly organized into 4 folders.
1) Proof of ongoing relationship - emails, ecards, phone records
2) DS-forms for the Consulate
3) I-134 and financial documents
4) Fresy's birth certificate, single certificate, police records
Interview was quick. Pre-screener asked for docs, Fresy had them in the order they were asked for and Conulate's questions were like those asked before (how did you meet, what does your fiance do for a living, etc)...
Visa in hand, Fresy flies here Saturday morning (arrives Ft. Lauderdale at 5:50am)... I'll meet her right outside of Customs and we fly home to Ohio a couple of hours later.
Congrats!!

A little late but WooHoo! Finally my NOA2 was approved on Jan 12th! Now how long do I wait before calling the NVC?
I would give at least 9 days to call or email them about your case status. I called first and a guy said my case was "processing" so I then emailed them, and a couple days later, I got an email saying my case had finished processing at the NVC and was directed to HCM Embassy.
-
When I got home today, here is what I found in my GMAIL inbox... response after I sent NVC an email the other day.
Dear Sir/Madam:
Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).
The NVC completed its processing of the visa petition HCMxxxxxxxxxx, and forwarded the petition to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM. As this petition is no longer located at the NVC you must resubmit your inquiry or request, and all future correspondence to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in HO CHI MINH CITY. Also, please be sure to notify the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in HO CHI MINH CITY of any change of postal mail or e-mail address, or any change in personal situation that may affect the applicant's eligibility for a visa.
Please visit www.usembassy.gov to determine the contact information for the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM. The individual Embassy or Consulate General website will include contact information for visa related inquiries.

I suggest you send it to her after she sends back the packet 3.
or the week after you hear of the interview date being assigned, which ever is later.
OK thanks

I have the copy of the I-129F ready to be sent to my fiancee and will probably ship it via DHL or another reputable carrier I can track (not sure which one to use or is cheaper). Now the information I have collected after sending in the I-129 package (texts, Yahoo Messenger chat log, money orders, etc), do I bring that with me or do I need to send what I have collected so far to her as well? Should I send the information to her ASAP or wait until I hear back from the NVC?

Concerning my question about the medical... I believe this answers it which I found in another thread:
Medical Exam:
Your fiancée should not have their medical exam done until instructed by the Consulate.
-
Hi crea78
You are still in the first quarter of this process. From your timeline you just receive your NOA2 letter. Congrats on that part . Now you are waiting for your case number for Vietnam and for your I-129f to be forwarded to the USEM in Vietnam.
Your fiance will need to complete here medical exam. The fee for each beneficiary aged 15 or over is US$110
Wally, I have two questions but I don't know if its "silly" to ask or not since I am new to all of this still. First off, you mentioned my I-129F being forwarded to the USEM in Vietnam. The part here that confuses me, does USCIS forward the package I sent them or do I need to send the folder I have made up (extra copy) to my fiancee?? I am planning on bringing the one I currently have to my fiancee's interview whenever that may be. My other question is: I know each embassy do things differently and was wondering if Vietnam will allow the beneficiary to take their medical before I get my NVC case number?
Sorry if I don't truly understand everything know but it's a learning process
-
Thanks everyone for your responses! I just thought I needed to fill out and send in the AOS i-134 as well at this stage.
-
To be sure about where I am at in the process, I am currently writing an email to the NVC to find out more about my case and if I can go ahead and send the money for the AOS fee. Only thing is I don't have an invoice number which is required, which I will ask as well.
-
Did you tell them your receipt number? They said they were processing it?
I gave him my EAC number along with my name + DOB and my fiancee's.
-
Got a Human at NVC?
Told you the case is still processing?
I called the 603 number and dialed 5 to speak with a human, but since this was my first time calling, I wasn't sure what to say to the guy and wanted to know what he could tell me about my case. Not sure what still processing means, but the next time I call, what should I ask to get a response I need to hear?
-
OK, so for what I'm seeing the NVC IS taking over a month to approve, we have been in there since Dec. 8th and nothing yet, uggghhhh, this is killing us, hopefully we don't get an RFE. Anyway then after that gets closed it should be another 2 to 3 months for the !@#$% interview in Tegucigalpa Honduras... so we wait, again and again and again...
This sucks if it's taking up to one month for the NVC to approve the case. I guess I will try once a week until my case is approved, and I just called today.

Can also find it here ->

However - please note -
For those chasing after a K-1 visa - the AVR/auto-attendent NEVER has info on casefiles. Must to get a Human.
You prolly want to read this - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/
Dodi's posted how to call and who - further down I've posted what you can get, the timeticks past NOA-2, and WHO you can get it from.
Good Luck !
OK thanks so we have to actually talk with a human to get info on our file. Good to know.
Edit: got a human this time and my case is still processing.
