  1. On August 14th, I sent in form I-765 (Employment Authorization)and have yet to hear back from Immigration via Email/text if they have gotten or started processing the document. The package was successfully delivered to the Vermont office and still patiently waiting to find out something. Should I call this Thursday if I don't hear anything from them to check on the status of EAD?

  2. This past July I filed for AoS (I-485 only) and currently my wife is taking nail classes to get her license. She will be done in either October or November and knowing how slow CSC is right now with processing Green Cards, I was wondering if it is OK to send in the form I-765 now along with the $380 fee. I am planning on calling USCIS tomorrow and see what they have to say as well. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated :)

  3. Well I called the 1-800 number today and gave them my fiancee's reference number. The lady said it could take 4-5 weeks to get the card. Does this sound about right? This Thursday, I meet with the Catholic priest who can speak both English & Vietnamese to find out more on what we have to do before we get married.

It can take a few weeks to get the ssn. The time frame should be listed on the paperwork you got at poe.

My fiancee didn't get any paperwork after she passed through customs.

  4. I went to the Social Security office last Monday and Uyen was not in their system since it was only one week since she arrived. So the lady gave me a letter stating to come back in 4 weeks if I haven't heard anything or received the card in the mail. However, Uyen's uncle insisted I take her this coming Tuesday morning on my day off nd try again to see if she is in the system. Should I call the 1-800 number and try to ask them, go back to the SS office, or hold off a little while longer. I know Uyen's uncle will ask me if I took her Tuesday and I do want her to get the SSN, but not sure what to do now??

  5. Uyen will keep her Vietnamese name and I think we are planning for a June wedding. Being apart from her right now isn't too bad. I usually see her on a daily basis though.

  6. Is it OK to go ahead and file for her SSN so soon? On the website, it asks for US Immigration documents but customs kept the brown package she received with her Visa. What documents will she need to bring to the Social Security office?

  7. Well, my fiancee was able to come home with me on May 7th! Things are doing pretty good and of course she seems overwhelmed with everything. She is currently living with her uncle and his family until we get married (since she is Catholic). It's too bad he lives 20 minutes away from my house so I normally have to pick her up in the mornings on my days off and drop her off in the evenings in time for supper. She is a very picky eater (no American food) so we will see how that goes. I did take her to a local mall and she got a shirt and body lotion which she seems to enjoy.

  8. One question, is the embassy suppose to give back the medical records after the interview is finished because I never saw it. Or will it come in the EMS package once it gets delivered? My fiancee will need the medical records to get through customs.

Nevermind she found it. Can we start calling the Embassy after Day 5 to track the package?

  9. My passport was valid to enter Japan but when I tried to board the plane for HCMC, that is when I got rejected. I already had my travel visa in hand so that wasn't the problem. I did have to pay $35 in HCMC to get a new Visa and they did it within 5 minutes. I am just glad I got into the country, because the next day was my fiancee's interview and I had the Package 4 documents with me.
