  1. For all of my VJ peeps going through Montreal recently, would you mind posting the time it took from sending off your packet 3 and receiving packet 4? :clock:

You can go to similar timelines, filter out everything except your country and Montreal and get an idea of all the latest ones... . Good luck! I'm guessing anything from two weeks to a month but ... more like two or three weeks?

  2. Printer Friendly

Revised I-693 to be Introduced Nov. 1

On Nov. 1, 2011, USCIS will introduce a new, more user-friendly version of the form used to report results of medical examinations for those seeking certain immigration benefits, Report of a Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, Form I-693. Civil surgeons completing medical examinations between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2011, should use the new form dated 10/11/11. However, USCIS will continue to accept the previous version, dated 7/20/10, for examinations completed between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2011. Beginning Jan. 1, 2012, civil surgeons must use the new version of the form

Not sure where to post this, but can't hurt to let VJ'ers know.

  3. Hello Fellow VJ"s

Finally started the AOS process, and I am confused about the 1-693 form. I did review the topic thread specifically on this topic and it states:

If the beneficiary's vaccinations were COMPLETED as part of the visa process, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO INCLUDE FORM I-693 IN THE AOS SUBMISSION. All your medical information is enclosed in the brown envelope which was handed in at the POE. The envelope is then forwarded on to USCIS where it will be consolidated with the I-485 submission, once received. If you received a copy of the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (Form DS-3025) from your Panel Physician, you may include a copy of that form in your AOS submission in place of Form I-693.

I think I will send in my AOS/EA/AP without this I-693 form. I was only given the vaccination worksheet (I don't see any number on this form, but I believe it is the Ds-3025) from the Dr. at my Medical back in August of this year.

HOW SAFE AM I TO SEND IT WITHOUT THIS 1-693? seeing I had my medical within the year with the Panel Physician

I checked on this myself a hundred times before sending in my AOS and was told by others that you only need the Vaccination paper from the medical clinic, not the 693. Some even said that you don't even need that paper as the results are already in the package. I sent a photocopy of the vaccination record (from Toronto Seiden clinic, no 3025 number on it anywhere). From what I understand that's all you need to do if your shots were up to date. :hehe:

  4. I don't have any personal experience with this but I would make sure your husband has a copy of your I-94 (not just the visa... although if your I-94 was stapled right next to your visa the photocopy should naturally show both documents :) ) since that's proof that you POE'd and activated your visa.

yes I meant the I 94 also. I think I will make a list that is fairly brief and include the detailed one in case they want more details. Can't wait for this too to be overwith!!

Thanks everyone for the advice! :star:

  5. My Husbands interview is on Monday and he brought up that he has all our documentation, proof of relationship (tons of letters, photos) and whatever else in his carry one since there's so many documents to carry. Are you allowed to bring bags into the Consulate? It's probably around a 20" over the shoulder bag from what I remember, but even that seems too large and he's being grumpy about there being way too much to carry in his arms.

Also, his appointment is at 10am- what time should he arrive?

I would suggest you bring all the evidence you want that makes you feel comfortable. I had copies of everything. I two separate accordian files, and put them in a whole food market 99 cent bag... it was light and open but big enough to hold the files. The reject any kind of black canvas zippered type bags from what I have read.

  6. My husband did this for me a few weeks ago and crossed the Ambassador Bridge with no problems. Just make sure that he has a copy of your K-1 visa, I-94 Card and a list of your inventory as the customs officer asked him to read off all the items (and it was a full uhaul :) ). They x-rayed the UHaul but didn't search it. Overall it went very smooth and was painless.

I actually find the Customs Agents friendlier at the bridge than the tunnel and before I moved to the US, I crossed 2-3 times per week.

Thanks! May I ask how detailed your list was? I have a list that is really detailed, as in one lamp, china plates, electric alarm clock, etc.

But I was thinking I should streamline it for the border as in "Kitchen", "household - books etc."

I am guessing you would approve of the more detailed list?

    :luv:

  7. Hey guys, I'm preparing for my NOA2 (CR-1), which I will hopefully be getting by the end of this month.

I haven't had the time to get my police check done.. work, school.. blargh, anyway, I need to get on it asap :bonk:

Where did you guys go to have yours done? I ask because I'd like the most up-to-date information as all my search results were ancient threads.

I'm assuming in Toronto I can go to the main TPS building at Yonge & College and request it. I just have to make sure they check CPIC/Canada wide search and they know it's for a U.S. Visa application, right? How much have you guys paid for yours?

I don't think the RCMP has an office here, since when I checked their website they asked for prints to be done at a police station, we toss in some of our information then mail it off to Ottawa. No bueno.

Most importantly, how long does it take to get your results back? I had to do the really basic name search ($22) for my current job, and that took exactly a week which was good, so I'm hoping the full CPIC check isn't much longer.

    Thanks everyone :)

Just call your local police department and they will tell you what office to attend to order the clearance certificate, the cost and whether you can get it while you wait or if you have to wait several days. Make sure they know it is for a visa you need a Canada wide clearance. (they will know).

  8. Good Morning,

Next Week my husband and a friend will go to my hometown near Windsor with a U-haul van or small truck, pick my 70 or so small boxes of belongings, plus several small things like lamps, a vacuum cleaner, etc. and bring them back over the bridge or tunnel to our home in Michigan. Plus a small suitcase where I have my personal stuff like some toiletries, medicine, jewelry box. I poe'd on November 10 and we were married on the 18th. They will have all the proper documentation: the form 3299, photocopies of my passport and Kvisa, and a list of the items. All the boxes have been numbered and I made a list just stating "household", "Kitchen", "books" "plates"... whatever items were in the boxes on the accompanying list.

Does anyone have any advice or experience they can share? We assume they will be secondaried... has anyone just gone right through without secondary?

How long does the secondary inspection take?

    Thanks for any advice.:help:

  9. Good news, my friends. I just get an email from DHL and they have picked up my passport from consulate general. Thanks for your comfort. I was really nervous this afternoon as both my fiance and I called DOS and they said that it is not printed yes and it will take few days to process. We really need little bit patience. Hope other vjers will get what they are waiting soon. Good Luck!

YAY !! where will you POE at?

We did Bluewater and it was great!

  10. Hi friends,I am anxious now as I had my interview in Montreal on Nov 23rd and have not got any information about the visa and returning documents. I check CSC website frequently and there is nothing there and did not get anything from local DHL. Anyone get your waybill number or othere information about your visa? I just want to make sure that i am not the only one waiting for it.

    Thanks

    Tracy

Many of us got our visa one week from our appointment date... I had my interview on nov. 2, a wednesday, and received an email on the following tuesday night at 10:30 from "Loomis" saying that the parcel was picked up and giving me the waybill tracking number. Then at 8 a.m. in the morning, London Ontario DHL (LOOMIS) called and said the parcel was there for pickup. I didn't even have time to track it! You should get an email/phone call soon!

  11. Hello Everyone,

I'm putting some documents together in advance of my fiancee's visa interview, and I realized I don't have a printout of the entire DS-160 form - and logging back into the "DS-160" site only allows me to reprint the confirmation page.

So my question is this - do we need a printout of the full DS-160 submission, or will the confirmation suffice?

I ask because I've heard it both ways, ie, sometimes Montreal requires the full form + confirmation, and other times they only want the confirmation.

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again!

they didn't ask for mine either but i showed it at the door with my appointment letter.

  12. Okay, here's the AOS thread for the K1 March filers group! Let's get everyone here on the same page! I just landed in the US 2 days ago and finished unloading the truck today! Time to get my SSN, and get that wedding happening! I'm still 12 days out from that, but sure to follow along in this thread when I get things sorted! Posting link to K1 group now!

I just received noa that aos papers were received, by email, last night. We mailed them on tuesday.:star:

  13. Funny you mention that----with the downward spiral of the housing market--when couples divorce and they are upside down on their mortgage, they fight to see who gets stuck with the house! Crazy world! lol

ok i'm convinced now... I will not care if I'm on the deed! We are so legit as a couple I can't see how it would be a deciding factor at the interview.

  14. Anyone else missing Canada? I miss my family and Canada in general....its really bumming me out since I'm not working yet...I have lots of time to stay at home and miss everything. Grass is always greener right?

I think volunteering is a good option and it helps you to meet people too. I know volunteering can sound overwhelming.. but there are some nice and not too taxing volunteer things around, for example, the local library (friends of the library) public parks and gardens, church.... it depends what you mind find really interesting and maybe you could just do it a few hours a day or month and that would get a different outlook happening.

Just a thought. Have you moved to a city or a small town?

  15. Hi VJ'rs,

I would appreciate experience /opinions on this subject: We just got married, and we don't know whether it would be advantageous or even possibly a disadvantage to have my name on the title to the house. It has a mortgage. Before bothering to consult a lawyer with his own agenda, I wondered what advice I can get here...

    Thank you!

    :help:

  16. i read somewhere that you have to use internet explorer (and not safari or firefox) for one of the packet 3 forms...i believe it was so you can print the forms...can someone please confirm!

i believe it is in reference to the 160 form that you do online... if you are going through montreal... this form is done online and everyone has trouble printing it.. but you don't really need to print it. what you really need to the print is the confirmation page that will come at the end of it. I hope this helps. there is a way to print each page as you fill it in but if you wait til the end it seems most people can't get a printed copy... but... it doesn't matter 'cause you don't need a printed copy... just the confirmation page must be printed and sent it with your packet 3.

I really hope this helps. :)

  17. Our interview was the 22nd! We are waiting for our shipment from DHL but I was not provided a tracking number. Is there any way to track it besides calling?

congratulations on having that done! I called the DOS and they told me the parcel was ready for pick up but they could not give me any number. I called DHL and same thing no way to track until it is picked up and there is a waybill number. I had my interview on a wednesday and on the following tuesday night at 10:30 I got an email from DHL saying the parcel was picked up and the waybill number. At 8 a.m. the next morning I got a call from DHL saying the parcel was there ready for pickup. So you should be hearing from them soon! AT least that's how it went for me but I was picking up the parcel at the DHL office in London.
