  1. My fiance got an email last night from USCIS... I guess it's a standard form receipt? What does it mean that our case is "under review"? I really hope our approval won't take another 60 days...he is still going to call 15 days after he submitted the service request, as suggested by the USCIS customer service representative.

Crossing my hands and Praying for 1 week or less on this decision for your NOA2....Come on God MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!

  2. CRBA went well. However, USEM wouldn't accept my notarized copy of my passport. Since I won't be needing it for a while, I'll be sending it via DHL to Amy. She should have it by the end of the week. Due to finances, I may have to wait until New Year's Eve for Amy and Serena to get here. Also, we may have to push the wedding back a month or two.

You didnt need to do DNA testing?

  3. Ive got a question. So the NVC has sent and received the approved application in Moscow. What is the next step? I gave them a call yesterday and they said we have to pay for the Visa upfront using an MRV receipt before we can schedule an interview. Also they said they would send her some information but most of it can already be found online as to what to bring for the interview. I was expecting them to first send packet 3 then set up interview then pay for Visa, then possible approval. Im a bit confused by this very strange order of things. anybody filing in Moscow had the same process or can someone give insight as to whether this is ok? Thanks

  5. dont be such in a hurry...get the visa, buy the ticket...you dont want to be that person that says to themselves I wish i had just waited to save a couple hundred dollars. once you get your visa you will be secured to come here. Take the time to say "see you later" to family, friends and what not. You will need this time as you wont be able to see them for a while. I already told the misses that she will have to wait even if she gets her visa for a little bit before she has to come here and she agrees with me. So do the same with your love one. you have a lifetime to spend together. remember that ^_^

  6. So my fiance called USCIS again, this time to see if our case had been assigned to a supervisor yet. He said the CSR guy he spoke with was really nice but he wouldn't put my fiance through to a Tier 2 Immigration officer. At first the CSR guy said that we should have received our approval by now, and he would go ahead and put in a service request. (Yippee!!) Then he did his bit on the computer at his end, and finally said, "Oh, looks like you are still in the normal processing time, I can't put in a service request..." blah blah blah. He said the immigration officer wouldn't be able to tell him if our case has been assigned to a case officer yet because cases are only adjudicated when they are approved or need additional information. Our case hasn't been approved yet because it hasn't been adjudicated yet. *sigh*

I kind of don't feel anything anymore, just numb about this whole sucky process. My fiance is going to call again on our 6-month mark, Nov 18... see if they say anything different.

if it makes you feel any better we havent even received the hard copy notice yet. T_T Im agreeing with you with the whole numbness to the process....it really sucks...im slowly beginning to lose hope T_T

  7. The good news is that I asked the Embassy about the possibility of a DNA test being required. They said they don't require them but only recommend.

That is great news. I cant wait for both Sasha (my son) and Tatiana's Interview. Then they can finally join me. I think that day I will cry...only because it will be tears of joy.

  8. I've researched what labs the DOS uses and their fees and turn-around times. I have the money saved just in case they require it, but will not order it unless they consulate requires it. As with visa petitions, every case is different. In our case, Amy hasn't been with anyone else but me and this is her first child.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing....only to order it if they request it. Thanks

  9. Thanks, Tom. By the way, where have you been all this time anyway? Serena's CRBA is pretty much a more straightforward process then what we've had to go through with USCIS/NVC/USEM. Although, you do need to make an appointment online by clicking here. As you might expect, there are a lot of documents that you have to gather. The burden is on the USC to prove paternity if the child is born out of wedlock. I have to prove the existence of a relationship prior to conception, physical presence at time of conception, provide medical records of Amy's pregnancy, a birth certificate on NSO paper, and... a signed affidavit of parentage and support. I've heard horror stories of some cases requiring a DNA test, but there's no doubt Serena is my daughter. They say it can take 2 weeks to get the paperwork, since it comes from Phoenix. I'm also applying for her first passport to make POE easier.

I have to do CRBA as well, Are you planning on getting a DNA test prior to the CRBA interview just in case the consulate decides DNA is the only way to prove if your daughter is yours? Just curious.
