  1. I don't think they are putting a visa in your passport at this time. After you submit what they are asking for, that is when the turnaround clock to you receiving your passport back with a visa starts. When you turn in your joint sponsor's proof of citizenship, ask them how long it will take for you to receive your passport back.

I will, as I call them tomorrow... From all the shock i forgot to ask them all this... Hopefully will know more tomorrow...

  2. That is good - just take the copy to the Consulate next Tuesday. They kept the passport because your case is good as done and they will complete the formalities next Tuesday and will send out the Visa and the passport to you (we can collect the visa and passport at an agency of the consulate called VFS but I don't know if you have something like that). Don't worry just go again on Tuesday and you should be fine.

In our embassy you get a 'ticket' with wich you can go in again and pick it up and a window... But, if I have that document by tomorrow I will call them and maybe be able to get in sooner... Will also ask why they kept my passport and what to expect when I come back in again...

  3. If you don't already have the proof of citizenship from your joint sponsor, have them rush that to you so it arrives quickly and you can walk it over to the Embassy.

From what you have posted, once you give the Embassy what they are requesting, I believe they will issue you the visa.

    Question is: When?

Since they went ahead and kept my passport, does it mean that they are allready putting my visa in it or what?

  4. It's good news he kept your passport. You should have no worries. It's a simple thing they are asking for, provide that documents and I am sure you will have your visa soon.

Didn't you submit all of this at NVC already?

Well, I had to give them the Affidavits of Supports again (husband and co-sponsor), turn in the medical results and the police certificates... Other than that they didnt have me give them anything... Unfortunately, I guess NVC must have missed i didnt send them in the Proof of Citizenship, so now i was completely swept off my feet when they asked for it...

They kept my passport? But why?

Does it mean it will all be ready for me when I get back in next week or what?

And they knew document was missing before I saw the consul.. Why did they let me have the interview anyways?

    Im so confused!

  5. The proof of citizenship/ permanent residency of the co-sponsor is a must. NVC is supposed to caught this during the process of AOS but they missed it.

Ask your co-sponsor to email you a copy of any one of the above and take it to the Consulate next Tuesday and get your visa and passport. Congratulations, you are almost done.

Well co-sponsor will email a regular copy to me (she will scan her original en email it to me) Is that sufficient?!

Also, why did they keep my passport? When can I expect to get that visa in hands now?

  6. Had the interview...

Was relaxed and smooth... But, after all the waiting I went to a window,, they asked me for all the documents... Called me back at the window, told me I had a missing document ... The Proof of Citizenship of my Co-Sponsor. Who would of thought?!

Anyway... Even though I missed that document, they went ahead and send me to the Consul anyway... Had my interview, went well... He mentioned again that I had a document missing and gave me a blue form, allowing me to walk-in without appointment... Next Tuesday he said...

They did all the paperwork, I saw him write positive comments, and than he said 'That's all I can do for today, after you get us the document ''you should be fine''... He put my file up, and kept my passport... Whyyy???

So please tell me what to do now???

    What to think???

    Whats going on??

    Anyone an advice!!??

Hope mine will go smooth in Brussels here tomorrow!

I cant wait! I'm so stressed, so worried, and idk where my head is right now fo sure!

But I think I'm well prepared!

Anyone other checklists available other than the appointmentletterchecklist and 'interview-prep' on the travel.state.gov. ??

  9. Hey VJ'rs :)

Tomorrow, at last, after process to progress from March till now, the interview is tomorrow, 2pm Brussels Embassy!

Any last advice from you all?

I think I got it all right, checked the appointment-letter checklist, got it all done...

Taking some extras like: pictures, skype-logs, FB-messages, etc etc...

    Will this do?

I'm really worried, stressed out about it...

Any advice or suggestions on what more to take tomorrow/what to be prepared for?

    Any help is welcome!

    Thanks!!

  10. Yeah, I was super excited and a little surprised they approved it. This doesn't mean our interview date will be that soon, though. I think they will just fit us in wherever they can, but it still may be in November. We shall see! :)

I have to call next week to get the date.

Same here! To check if I get the earlier date or not! NVC tells me my case got send yesterday Oct 6th.. Why cant i track iiiit??? :(

  11. Thats good news!

Thanks guys! Still unable to track it through DHL. Medical is done already, waiting for results (he done told me i was approved though but still) they will be in tuesday, and in my mailbox by friday. If I call the embassy friday and they havent gotn my case, i'm screwed for earlier interviewdate! Just hope and preay! Uptill now,, i cant track my casseeeee :o

Good luck to you! It'll work out!

  12. Hi there all of you!

So, interviewdate is scheduled November 8th. I called the USEmbassy in Brussels today, after I have emailed them earlier this week leaving me with no response.

Now hear this. They had read the email, and went ahead and scheduled me for OCTOBER 18TH !!! So, happy me offcourse!

    But here's the problem...

They Embassy in Brussels hasnt received my 'paper file' yet ... They said it could be on its way, and to call back October 14th.

Called NVC, they said it had left yesterday through DHL. Now, lookin into the trackersystem of DHL I dont see a package left on any days of this week for Brussels, BE. And offcourse, Embassy told me they hadnt got it...

Soo,, if NVC says "yesterday it has left": Is it true though?

The trackersystem through DHL, the little trick we do... Accurate?

And what are the odds I will be able to make it to that interview October 18th?

Anybody a word of advice? :)

    Thanks in advance!

    Blessings to all! :)

  15. No

That envelope will be clearly marked with the words "do not open." When you arrive, you will give it to the CBP officer, they will know what to do with it. FYI, there may be one of the corners on that envelope that has a cut on it, that is normal.

But, does that envelope that you CAN NOT OPEN contain your visa/international passport?

Cause, without that its impossible for yourself to be able to travel...

    That was my biggest issue...

  16. Updated!

Btw, only news I got for the Interview is the appointmentletter from NVC through my and my husbands email.

Is there other info to expect?

+ When we have the visa in hands... I remember something like 'the big brown envelope' you cant open?

    What about it?? Advice?

Much love and blessings to all!
