extremerecluse got a reaction from marklovetina in Why Are Most Guys Afraid Of Kids?
My ex is a Filipina. Her father was in the US Marine Corps. He was born in San Miguel Bulacan. My ex was a citizen by birth, even though she lived the first 30 years of her life as a Filipina. The embassy contacted her and her siblings to see if they wanted the opportunity to become US Citizens. Three accepted the offer. Two did not. My ex was separated from her spouse and living with me in the US. She divorced him. She never actually told me she had kids until one year into our relationship. She was scared to death of what my reaction would be; of course. She had four kids I later learned. But she waited until the right time to inform me (after I was totally head over heels in love). When you actually love somebody with all your being you will do anything for her. That is exactly what I did. We petitioned for them and they arrived in 1985. I was in the US Army as a Warrant Officer. My ex became pregnant two months before she traveled to the Philippines to help them process through the embassy. We had a great marriage until the kids started moving out. Depression set in and all hell broke loose. Divorce occurred in 2005. Met my fiance online after making the decision to move on in 2010. Stated that I wanted kids for obvious reasons. More mature, loving and knows how to sacrifice. So, that is what I chose for a new partner. Traveled to San Ildefonso to meet her in Oct 2010. I knew that I would be spending the rest of my life with her the moment I laid my eyes on her. Yes she has kids and I love them all as my own. My ex kids and my son are grown and independent now. I have my own life and I want to live it as I wish. I see most guys on this website want nothing to do with single mothers. Hey guys; you don't know what you are missing. You want stability, a nurturer, wisdom and passion that won't quit; choose a single mother. Kids are survivors and they will accept you if you are just yourself and you love their mom like no other. I would like to know from anybody who would like to express an opinion. I love my Marilou so very, very much. I want her so badly, but I must be patient. This process is a long one and that is the one we chose together. Input requested by all who dare.

Everybody in this website always states that the fees they are required to pay are high. So, I decided to do some simple calculations. I have filed my I-129F for my fiance as well as her three kids. First, I paid $340 in December 2010 to USCIS. I have read posts from senior VJ members that each petition takes about 20 minutes to review and approve or deny. $340 for 20 minutes of service, after the file sits in a pile for 6 months. The case gets transferred to NVC. NVC performs one manhour of work on the file. Then the case gets transferred to the Embassy where two manhours are spent working on my file. I then pay $1,400 for the visa fees and $800 dollars for the medical. After the POE I pay $3,400 for the Adjustment of Status which takes another 2 manhours. Then I pay $400 for lifting of conditions which takes 1 manhour. Now lets add it all up! I come up with $6,320 in fees. Now lets add up the services that were provided. I come up with a whopping 14.3 manhours to provide all services. I will round up to 15 manhours required to perform all services concerning my entire case. I then come up with $421 per manhour. Keep in mind that everything that USCIS and DOS provides is done so without intent to make any profit; a zero sum balance. Lets say that on average that each US Government Employee who handled the case makes an average of $30 per hour. Now, we know that the US Government is taking in $421 for every $30 that is going out. That leaves a net positive cash flow of $391 per manhour worked. Remember that the US Government operates on a zero sum balance sheet; no profit. I am not making any judgements. I am only doing simple math calculations. Can anybody disagree with my numbers? Let me know if you come up with different numbers. Am I making the process too simplistic? Am I not conservative enough in my calculations? Input please.

I know that some of you are getting quite curious as to how some K1 and CR1 petitions are being approved in less than one month. I can recall a very recent post by a VJ member. He called the USCIS service center and attempted to place a service request. He was told that he was not beyond the window to submit such a request. He then asked how recently submitted petitions are being approved so quickly. He was told "because some are just easier than others". Really?????? He then asked how the adjudicators would know the content of a petition prior to reviewing it. No explanation was forthcoming. To appease the petitioner, the USCIS staffer agreed to submit the service request. Wait a Minute!!!!!!! What happened????? Do you see a pattern? Some say that these petitions are used as training exercises. BULLSH&^!!!!!! I am a US Government employee (USPS). It is common knowledge that senior management will be very creative in order to "Jazz Up" the performance of their respective area. What do I mean? The director orders some adjudicators to obtain 4-5 boxes of K1 and CR1 petitions that were submitted one month ago. WHY? Easy!! Somebody is either breathing down their neck to speed up the process or that director is cruisin for a promotion. Don't think this is possible? It happens all the time where I work!! What do you think would be the easiest way to make the numbers sway the other way in the Service Center Directors' favor? Remember, that one of the VJ members stated that the reason for the quick approval was due to the ease of reviewing particular petitions. We need to wake up folks. I think some of you are in agreement; maybe not. In the world of high finance, this would be what is commonly called "Cookin the Books". People are put behind bars for doing exactly that. I am sorry, but I calls em like I sees em!!!

Sponsorship equates to I-134. I think, in the past, the individual that he filed an I-134 to immigrate is now an illegal alien. That puts a large monkey wrench into the ordeal. At least, that is what I gather from what she stated. The skeletons do tend to come alive at unexpected times. Maybe I am wrong. I think his prior girl friend asked him to sponsor her and now she is on the run from ICE.

In that case, the only remedy he would have is to try to assist ICE in her apprehension. I think they would be willing to make a deal. The petitioner gives her up and the DOS lets the K1 visa application proceed.

I beg to differ. We conduct multi million dollar transactions using computers now. Don't tell me that the system could not be trusted. Millions of people use online payment and banking right now. Security would be no factor. This only involves transfer of low sensitivity information. No billion dollar transactions. I work for the US Postal Service. 90% of what we do involves printing barcodes and ID tags on the letters that come through our processing plant. This can all be avoided by setting up small kiosks in each local post office with machines that you could type the ZIP CODE of your destination and a small label would be printed with a laser, cutting out 90% of the processing time in postal processing plants. Technology RULES the world!!! Simple idea; massive rewards.

Daimler/Chrysler does it all the time. General motors has done it. Toyota Has done it. Ford has done it. BMW has done it. Audi Has done it. Subaru has done it. Volkswagen has done it. Why can't the USCIS? You don't have any clue as to what I am talking about; do you. AUTOMATION!!!!!! Why can't we just log onto the USCIS website. It asks us what we want to do. We tell it what we want to do. We are automatically transferred to the application process we want to complete. One long form pops up that we can fill in the blanks. At the end of the application you can download the instructions for sending in any documents that are required. The computer system will not allow to you to make mistakes such as grammar recognition or format programs. You pay the fee online. You are then given the opportunity to scan and email to the system any documents. You can then print out a signature page which covers anything that was scanned into the system. You mail the signature page into USCIS. The computer system automatically approves prior to the signature page being mailed in. This process would take all of the time to fill out the petition online and mail in the signature document. The background checks would be automatically requested through one central database taking 2-3 days. DOS would only get involved if they received hits on the Petitioner or Beneficiary. The petition would then be electronically forwarded to the embassy which would then email the applicant who would receive a link to proceed to the scheduling program. The applicant would complete any document online and then send in a signature conformation page. The applicant would also receive any instructions automatically through the embassy website. How many people have touched the petition? Very few!! How long would this process take. One month MAX. Why don't we do it then? They can still create a roadblock at the embassy for those who simply do not qualify upon the merits. My GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It only takes 30 minutes to review one K1 or IR petition. This is totally ridiculous. We should be screaming at the congress to fix this. I am not an IT whiz, but this idea that I have laid out can be implemented so easily. Petitions in boxes stacked up to the roof; what? Are you kidding me. When I discovered this logistical nightmare, I said "What the F%$#!!!!"
