  1. ...At this first cubicle they asked for originals and two additional copies of her birth certificate, decree absolute (divorce paperwork), affidavit of support, and passport photos. (This should come as no surprise to anyone, since it's all spelled out in the materials provided in the packet they provide.) They also asked her for my name, so be sure that you know the name of your fiancé(e) when you go for your interview, even though it isn't on the list of things they say they'll want from you. In return for all this, they provided her with a copy of her chest x-ray from her medical exam on CD, which apparently she will have to provide to the Customs agent when she arrives back in the US in a few days....

Two additional copies? Does it mention that in the interview appointment letter, as it only says one original and one copy on the embassy website!

  2. Signed MRV Application Fee receipt Nothing to do with mailing K1 visa application forms. Pay before you attend the interview and take the email receipt to the interview to show you've paid. It just streamlines the interview day process. They will assign you an interview paid or not, but would like you to pay prior to your interview day so it's sorted.

Thanks, Nick - here's where my confusion is with the MRV:

    MRVreceipt-XL.jpg

Notice in the area I've highlighted with a red box, it talks about submitting it with the completed visa application package.

  3. There are some inconsistencies (to my mind, anyway) between the instructions.

The letter from the embassy states to return forms DS-230 Part I, 2 x DS-156, DS-156K, 2 x DS-157 and checklist DS-2001 before an appointment will be scheduled.

Form DS-2001 only says that it must be returned with from DS-230 Part I (none of the other forms are mentioned).

The receipt for the visa fee says that you must sign the receipt and submit it with your completed visa application package - no signed receipt in the package = application returned unprocessed.

So, adding the three together, I must send in a package of:

Covering letter quoting name, e-mail address, case number, date of wedding, date of medical.

Form DS-2001 signed, dated and completed

    Signed MRV Application Fee receipt

Form DS-230 Part I signed & dated (part II doesn't need to be in the package?)

Form DS-156 signed & dated (two copies of)

    Form DS-156K

    Form DS-157 (two copies of)

    Is that right?

  4. I'm just careful (maybe too careful laughing.gif) - what happens if I send packet 3 back in and they give me an appointment date, but the information from Gin is lost in the post? She has to get a new employer letter sent to her, plus notarized tax returns etc, and then send it again, which might not arrive before the interview date.

I'd rather get all my ducks in a row first, and have everything to hand before I send back packet 3 saying I'm ready for the interview yes.gif

And, naturally, just after I wrote that the packet arrived from Utah laughing.gifkicking.gif

From DS-156 now completed online, all forms printed and backup copies printed too - now to pay the fee yes.gif , write the covering letter and send the forms in (DS-2001 says that and DS-230 Part I - letter from embassy says all of them, so I'm sending all of them).

  5. really? why not? don't you bring the financial stuff to the interview with you, and not the packet 3 send back?

that's what we plan on doin'

  6. Thanks rally! But this number will be given to the doctor i presume during the medical ? because when i called the office today and asked she said that she only needs my contact details to book it..

so in short, i should be able to book it now, and if i havent received packet 3 before the medical date, ill just call and get a new date

The London doctors took the LND case number, so it would appear that whether or not they need it when booking is country-specific.

You can get the case number from the NVC on the number Mari quoted earlier in the thread. Then you can contact the embassy a couple weeks after the file left the NVC to check that it has arrived safely and is loaded on their system.

  7. Sorry it wouldn't let me edit..

Anyone from CSC that can tell me what exactly you get in package number.3 ? reason why i am asking is because it's said for me to wait to book my medical until i receive packet nr.3 , is there a certain number or so that i need to give the doctor? or why do they ask that ?

Reason why i am asking is because its a long wait here, and the doctor only have appointments 1 time a week..

Do you think it's safe to book it now ? "It's valid for 12 months" ? the lady booking doesnt require anything, i could have one for 31th of may, 25 days from now.. should be plenty of time for my packet 3 to arrive

    comments? thoughts ?

The number you have to quote for the medical is the case number created by the NVC (for London it starts LND, Manila starts MNL, etc) - I presume it just means that when the medical results arrive at the embassy they are put with the correct file ready for the interview.

I know my LND number, but am waiting until I know that the case is in the London embassy system before booking my medical so that there's less chance of the results getting mis-placed unsure.gif

  8. For those of us getting ready for interview, are you and your USC fiance(e) doing new letters of intent to marry, for the foreign beneficiary to take with them to the embassy interview?

If so, what address on the letter? The petition one used the DHS address - should we use that again or the embassy address?

Edit - Never mind, found it, embassy address laughing.gif

  9. LOL what do you mean "Nope" ........ does your embassy have a page just for schedule interviews? Some may not, I don't know.

OK check out Ankara and look for something like this:

    First, this page: http://turkey.usemba...w_schedule.html

    then, this page: http://www.usemb-ank...chedule_iv.html

They say at the Embassy level it takes 2 -3 days to put your file in their system. I don't know if that is true or not.

Try your embassy now and see if they have a schedule for interviews. They must! How else does everyone look up their scheduled time?

They want us to telephone them on the $2 a minute premium rate line to find out any information laughing.gif

  10. No, it's the confirmation number from DHL. USCIS is finished with us now once the NOA2 is completed (temporarily anyway till we file AOS). Ben have Gin call the NVC and she can find out if your file even left for London (or UK somewhere). You can then start guesstimating the arrival at Embassy ... what do you think about 5 days to get there?

Apparently it left on the 27th - I've tracked one thing on DHL which was delivered this afternoon, but we don't have a real DHL tracking number or anything to confirm that it's my package

Was that email from the NVC? Gin didn't get an email after the one from USCIS saying that the petition was approved. unsure.gif

  12. Benjamin,

Your case may have already left for your Embassy. Have you or Gin called the NVC to check on status? I'm not sure how long it will take DHL (the service Dept of State will use) to get to UK, but ours got to the NVC on the 18th and left NVC on the 28th; it's in Ankara as of May 2nd! So, here I thought K can 'take his time" to get back to Adana. Then, I found out from our Embassy they have very few interviews so they're granting them within 20-30 days! LOL can you say stress Mari out? So for the just in case, we have the NVC fone # on the Thread Map Index (which would be really kewl if you could hot link that again btw lol ).

EDIT: I forgot to say then you book your Medical if the Embassy has it! (you'll need your ID)

    Mari

I just called the embassy premium rate number and they hadn't received it, but following someone else's guide for tracking DHL, it maybe being delivered today (naturally, the UK had two holidays this weekend (friday for the wedding and monday for a normal holiday) so that probably delayed it a little.

I'll contact them again in a couple of days. did NVC tell you that it had arrived at the embassy, or the embassy itself?

  13. Hmm, rock/hard place - do I book my medical now (I have my LND case number and my police certificate) or do I wait for some sort of confirmation that the case has arrived safely at the embassy..

Book now and it's one more step completed, but if the case file hasn't arrived, could the medical report getting there first cause confusion...
