  1. Hi all!

Sorry to have been MIA lately!

Left Ohio last Tues, arrived Thurs morning 6am.....medical at 11am, interview today at 10.30am....APPROVED.....POE Friday......

    Phew!!!

    How is everyone doing?

    xx

    Wow, congrats!

Do they give you your passport back with the visa in it there and then in NZ then? We (UK) have to wait for a courier to deliver it, which can take up to 10 days!

  2. Yeah, I was going to say...what date did they know when your interview was relative to when you sent in packet 3/r? Was it a week? 2 weeks? 3 weeks?

They didn't know last week when we checked that packet 3 had been logged, so they didn't decide until after the medical results had been received, I think.

Packet 3 went back 17th May, was delivered 18th May and logged 26th May.

  3. I'm confused at you people who have said you've had your medicals already before getting packet 4.. I thought you have to wait until you get packet four before you can book your medical?

I think that each embassy has different rules - London requires the medical before stating that your ready for interview (form DS-2001), so can be done any time after the LND case number is allocated.

  4. I have a question that most likely belongs in our AOS forum...

But does anyone know how how our foreign fiances/fiancees will get credit? My fiance has awesome credit in South Africa and the United Kingdom....but does that transfer? Will he have to begin again?

From what I've read, the only credit history that would transfer is if he'd held an AmEx card for more than a year. There's also something about adding him as a second card holder and inheriting your credit history, but I'm not sure on the details.

Everything else, you're back to starting from scratch again, unfortunately - I'm in the same boat.

Also a credit score on it's own isn't everything - they like a history too !

  5. Did you send in the DS-2001 checklist already?

If so then yes just waiting for the interview (assuming you've paid for it).

It won't hurt to call the DoS either.

Yup, DS-2001 and accompanying forms were logged at the embassy on 26th May. Gin will be calling DoS on Monday to see if the medical results have been logged too.

Gin was told by the DoS guy that London will send out the letter "when they have time to get around to it" (paraphrasing slightly laughing.gif )

  6. My fiance is considering working remotely for the UK based company, too. Have you found any information on it? We've been searching everywhere but can't find anything concrete on the legality of it all

It was starting to look a bit dodgy when looking into the ins and outs of working remotely while living in the US before getting EAD, so the boss and I have come to an agreement over a parting of the ways (he was a little worried about the time difference) but when I speak to him even now, he still umms and aahhs laughing.gif

So, come August/September, I'll be a house-husband until I work out what to do kicking.gif

  7. Hi all

We just got our LND number. Our case was sent to London on May 27th. I'm going to call and book my medical today. For those of you who already had theirs, what is the medical like? What do they check, how nice are they and how long does it take? I'm always a little worried when it comes to hospitals/check-ups and stuff like that!

Mine was Friday, probably the first appointment after their lunch (12.50) - I was probably in there for about 45 minutes in total. Vaccinations nurse, straight in to x-ray, back to waiting room for 5 mins or so, then in to the doctor for height, weight, eyesight test, blood pressure, check your eyes with an opthalmoscope, listen to heart and lungs, prod the stomach area and check that you are the gender you are supposed to be, and finally blood test. All three medical people were nice.

Check that you've had two MMR jabs, normally around a month apart - I hadn't and was offered choices of 1) do at own doctor's and they'll give me a form for the doc to fill out and return 2) wait until AOS in the US or 3) pay £37 to get it done there and then - I paid the money and had it done, so that there's no delays

  8. I think I have that right anyway ;) I'm not bringing a letter of intent because we got our interview within the validity period of the NOA2 nor am I taking evidence of our relationship. I've read over all the reviews of London and I don't believe I've seen anyone needing those.

I suppose I'm looking at it as: If I don't take it, I'll need it, but if I do take it, I won't smile.gif

  9. yeah, I hear ya. I was thinking his interview might be in july some time. *fingers crossed*

Gin just called DoS and my packet 3 (which was received by them on 18th May) was logged on 26th May - they're waiting for medical results now before assigning interview - apparently time scale for that is "just depends what's going on at the consulate that day". laughing.gif

  10. US Embassy DECEMBERITES

    Hey guys -

Been reading the United Kingdom thread and noticed that a lot of people are running into a 6 week back log of packet 3 being logged. Any of you run into that yet when waiting to schedule your interview?

I saw that too, Dizzy - mentally, I'm prepared for not hearing about an interview date until the end of June

  11. Form DS-157 Q9 states "List all countries you have visited in the last ten years (Give the year of each visit)" so you don't need to be more accurate than that (don't need month or day for that form).

You do have to be more accurate on the dates of any trips to the US for form DS-156 though (Q.29)

  12. I've got my medical this Friday, but reading other threads in the UK section here, the London embassy is also swamped, with a 6-week backlog of logging Packet 3s, so I doubt I'll be receiving an interview date before the end of June sad.gif

Luckily, for us, the plan has always been for me to make the move at the back end of August for a September wedding, so I'm not under quite as much pressure as people who want to mover earlier - yet!

  13. Just had a shock - Gininda is planning on coming here in August, and then we return together for my emigration, so leaving SLC on the 18th, flying to London Heathrow, and then back again on the 23rd August (so Thursday to Tuesday).

It was just over $1000 for this flight the week before Easter (i.e., fly over to the UK on the Saturday, stay a week and fly back on Easter Sunday).

Current economy ticket cost for August?.....

    $1,460!

  14. My packet 3 is at the embassy (I sent it registered so have the notification that it was delivered), I will have had my medical by this time next Friday kicking.gif and have no doubt that I will be trying to relax in a London pub laughing.gif

Five boxes packed and contents listed, motorcycle sold, more stuff going up for sale next week good.gif

Ever just want to go to sleep and just wake up for the medical and interview? laughing.gif
