  1. Yes? You rang?

You replied on my post dated Jan 2011... but you said nothing??

I read your next post (the one above) and wonder if you're reading the USCIS Goal Times they post on their official website? Last I knew it was 5 mos+ (and that is not a guarantee btw). So.... sit tight cuz you're in for a little bit of a wait.

LOL... where on earth did you see 4 WEEKS to have your NOA2 approval??? Must be joking or mistaking that for the NOA1 date...

    Was this your confusion?

    Mari

PS: WE DECEMBERITES DO NOT PANIC BECAUSE WE KNEW WHEN WE FILED OUR PETITIONS THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE A FEW MOS. BEFORE WE GOT NOA2 APPROVALS.

    good.gifNicely put, Mari yes.gif

  2. I am going to see my fiance next week :)

I am spending 2 weeks with him and will have my interview at the consulate a day after I come back.

I know it seems funny...but...I dont plan to have my POE till 12 Dec as we are having the ceremonial wedding at the end of Nov in my side of the world. It will be a little like the Hangover 2, Bangkok followed by a beach ceremony in thailand, hopefully, minus the drama. I also made a commitment at work which means I shouldnt leave the job till the end of the year.

Right now..i'm occupying my time with getting stuff for the wedding...like the perfect shoe...and the perfect body! haha

For the folks that are still waiting for their NOA2, hang in there! And for all the upcoming interviews..good luck!

I presume this isn't a legal wedding, as I thought the actual legal wedding had to take place in the US? wacko.gif

  3. Waiting on my interview date.

A couple of questions, since this thread is active..

What is the average packet 3 processing time for London (Rough estimate)? I read somewhere it's around 3 weeks.

Can you only find out about what they've "logged" by phoning that expensive number?

I returned my packet 3 on 17th May, it was delivered on 18th May, and according to DoS was logged on 26th May, so just over a week in my case.

  4. Of course, if I'm cheating and walking to the store then we get some chicken breasts, tasty hard cheese and some parma ham sort of stuff, with some spinach and green beans

Get home, slice pockets into the chicken breast, put slices of the cheese in the pockets (one slice in the chicken, one in my mouth, one in the chicken, one in the mouth, etc ) laughing.gif and dust the fillets with some of the chili pepper.

Wrap the chicken/cheese fillets in the parma ham, bacon, whatever, and put into a pre-heated oven at about 375 for 30 minutes, so that the cheese is melting nicely, and the bacon/ham has crisped up.

Cook the spinach and green beans in a little water, not too much, and drain well.

Put the greens on the plate with some butter melting on top, and the chicken with cheese wrapped in ham beside

    Job's a good'un, as we say over here good.gif

  5. I'd have to read the packet on the cake mix as I can bake my own sponge cakes from flour, sugar, margarine and eggs, but I'd still need margarine or similar for that, which isn't on the list.

Oh, good grief, looking at the ingredients of a Betty Crocker cake mix, that can join the canned corn in the trash! All those unnecessary ingredients!

I will be walking to the grocery store (1.5 miles away) or the nearest convenience store at the Walker's gas station for milk, at the very least - maybe take Pepper and Loki for a walk with me (Gin's Dalmatian and Shih Tzu).

With milk, I can make pancakes, crepes, sponge cakes, much much more sweet goodness good.gif

So, bake the potatoes in their skins

When cooked, scoop out the flesh and make into a creamy mash with salt, pepper, milk and margarine (or butter, depends what's in the fridge) and some chili pepper for a little kick

Put under the grill (broiler?) to brown off the top - hopefully there's some cheese in a back corner of the fridge too laughing.gif

For dessert, there's two choices -

    1) Take the eggs, flour, milk and sugar, mixed together to make a sponge and put it in the oven to bake. Once done, I'll need to fill it, so hopefully there's some strawberry jam (jelly?) or something in a cupboard.

    or

    2) Take the eggs, milk and flour and make crepes or pancakes

    Do I pass? laughing.gif

  6. OK Big Ben,

Since you are the one who is POE'd....

You go "home" and are hungry. Gin went to work and you're on your own for the next 7 hours. You look in the food storage in the basement. You're in a romantic mood and your jet lag is over! You want to surprise her and make a fabulous gourmet dinner for the both of you.

What will you make with the following things you have found:

    1. Flour

    2. Eggs in the fridge

    3. Corn (canned)

    4. salt / pepper

    5. potatoes

    6. sugar

    7. chili pepper-- dried.

    8. box of vanilla cake mix

OK Ben, be creative! We're excited to see what you come up with!!!

    Mari

Let me think, but the canned corn goes straight in the garbage wacko.gif

Can I walk to the store for milk? laughing.gif

  7. We were approved on friday

How long does it usually take before you recieve your visa? I don't want to book my flight until I have it, but am hoping to fly pretty soon

I think the guide is 7-10 days, but it seems that people tend to get it quicker than that, around 3-4 days, but it depends where you are in the country (London gets it quickest, for example).

  8. We're having to do two ceremonies/celebrations - the wedding and reception in Utah in September, then we'll be coming back to the UK at the end of March for a celebration with all my family and friends who can't make it to the US. As it currently stands, on my side in Utah there will be me, my best man, mum, dad, brother - they're the only guaranteed ones laughing.gif If I get up to 10 on my side it'll be a miracle - for Gin's side, if everyone comes to the wedding there'll be about 78 at the wedding, and 183 at the evening reception helpsmilie.giflaughing.gif

One of the joys of being nearly 40, I suppose - my mum was the youngest of 4, so my aunts and uncles are all in their 70s and don't/can't make that sort of journey (and some of them, plus cousins, friends etc) just don't have the funds to pay for the current flight prices (aka rip-offs!).

  9. No need to move interview. You have 6 months to enter once you have your visa. That time in-between will be welcomed. :)

Ah, but our plan all along has been getting married on Sept 20th this year, and I want to be there beforehand to help with the prep etc

  10. I've got my interview date now (18th July) which is, obviously, a fair distance in the future - and, from a flight cost point of view, pretty close to the date I wish to emigrate (23rd August).

Is there any way to move the date forward - for example, could I call the embassy (painfully-expensive) line and ask if they've had any cancellations and ask for that slot?
