ALERT: Rescheduling Appointments Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you become ill for any reason, regardless of whether you were exposed to COVID-19, please do not come to appointments with any USCIS office.
Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice to reschedule your appointment or interview if you:

  • Were in any country designated as a "level 3" by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within 14 days of your appointment;
  • Believe that you may have been exposed to COVID-19 (even if you were not recently in any level 3 country); or
  • Are experiencing flu-like symptoms (such as a runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat or fever).

Visit coronavirus.gov for a complete list of CDC travel health notices.

We will help you reschedule your appointment without penalty when you are healthy.

USCIS wants to ensure the safety of those whom we serve and our employees. Please do not visit a USCIS office if you are sick or start to feel symptoms of being sick. We will help you reschedule your appointment, without penalty, when you are better. If you have an illness or are exhibiting symptoms, we recommend you cancel and reschedule your USCIS appointment. Some illnesses and symptoms include:

  • A cold or the flu
  • Fever or nausea
  • Severe headaches or body aches
  • Muscle or stomach pain, chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Active tuberculosis (TB)
  • Mumps, measles, chickenpox
  • Other contagious disease

If you need to reschedule an appointment

Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice to reschedule your appointment. There is no penalty if you reschedule your appointment.

If you come to a USCIS office when you are sick

For the safety of our employees and those that we serve, if you or someone with you appears ill or meets any of the conditions listed above, the officer may cancel your appointment or interview. We will assist you in rescheduling your appointment, without any penalty.

Hi all,

I m flying out to the Us on my k-1 Visa next month from the UK.

My visa is due to expire at the end of April. Does anyone know if travel is restricted due to the Coronavirus outbreak if that could be extended in special circumstances?

Thanks

DS-160, CEAC and scheduling for medical/interview

Hello,

I have received through the post from the US Embassy London a letter stating that they have received our approved petition in support of the K-1 visa application. They then refer to the London US Embassy portal "Applying For the Visa" for detailed instructions on preparing for my visa interview and scheduling the appointment.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to the next steps, please? I have read about the DS-160, but I need a DS application number, which I do not have. How am I to get one? Is this done through the CEAC website - and on that website, is the K-1 classed as an Immigrant or Non-Immigrant Visa (there always seems to be some confusion on this point in some stages)?

I believe that the documents required is straightforward. There is the recommendation/almost-requirement of Form I-134 (Affadavit Of Support), which is fine. And a new ACRO police certificate is required. But the biggest headache seems to be registering for couriers, this DS-160 in order for scheduling the medical and interview.

We thank you for your help in this!

Just wondering if anyone who's had their citizenship interview been told that they need more documentation before they can proceed?

Usually via the N-14 document.

And if so, how long the process took?

I had my interview on 13th Jan and what's frustrating is, when I filled my N400 73 years ago (slight exaggeration, I actually filed in my past life) I didn't owe any taxes, but since then I have been paying taxes via an installment plan.

They actually require you to present evidence of this as part of your citizenship, which I had no knowledge of. So I passed all the tests, just needed to give them another piece of paper showing my tax payments. The officer said that he would action the request for more information via a special form, (who's name/number I forget) and I can expect it in the mail in ten days. So seventeen days later I call up USCIS who has no record of anything being sent.

What I'm looking for is someone with knowledge of what I can expect now. It feels like I'm stuck and they could easily just lose track of me in what is, for Seattle filers, an absolute ocean of immigration backlog.
