The moment the teens were safely on board, Seifi and her husband ran as well. They boarded the next flight from California to Poland, leaving behind their two children the youngest just 2 years old.

"The directions were that, as soon as you get out of the train, you're not going to any volunteers. You sit there and you wait 10 days, 20 days, until your auntie comes to pick you up," she said.

They reunited five days ago on the now-famous train platform in the Polish city of Przemy l, thinking the hard part was over. But that's where the family's luck ran out.

"When we went to the American Embassy, they just turned us away," Seifi said. "They have no sympathy, no understanding. Even when I say I'm an American citizen that wants to take my kids."

As this seems to come up quite a bit I thought I would post some actual experience. Unclear if she had actually applied for anything on just turned up at the American Interests section

Working on an O-3 visa

Hello,

I am moving to the US on an O-1 visa which has been sponsored by my new company. As it stands, my wife will also be coming with me on an O-3. Our biggest concern is that under the O-3 visa the spouse cannot work. What are the best actions we could take to obtain a work visa for her? I have seen a few potential avenues, although I am not familiar how possible they would be.

1. My company also put me in for the HB-1 lottery which would allow my wife to work, despite the criteria for getting a HB-1 being lower. Can I still try for the lottery and switch visa if I get it so that she can work?

2. The EB-1 green card has a similar (albeit slightly higher) criteria to the O-1. Is it likely I may still get this even if I have just been accepted for O-1?

3. Is there any other options I have not seen, for example something she can apply for?

I'm really struggling to understand why under other very similar visas like HB-1, L-1 etc. the spouse can work, but under O-1 they cannot. It seems mad that we can be living there and it's illegal for her to work!

For some context, we are both British citizens 27 / 29.

Thanks!

Entered the US on 20th November 2021 on a CR1, I ticked the box to receive a SSN on the DS-260. I am back in the UK at the moment finishing off work commitments before returning to the US permanently, however my SSN still hasn't arrived at the address I put down.

What are the current timeframes like on waiting for a SSN? Is 2 months normal these days?

CR-1 Approved - Married Online

I had my CR-1 approved yesterday at the London Embassy.

My wife and I were married on November 3rd 2020, we were both present together in the UK however married online through Virginia state. We applied for a marriage license and had a pastor who was registered in the state of Virginia perform the wedding. Application sent December 5th 2020 and then approved November 4th 2021 so 11 months all together.

Granted myself and my wife were present together when married it was still online, so hopefully encouraging news for those who have done it through Utah (which seems popular) and have consummated the marriage.

Bit of a random question, but I am just wondering when you go for an interview do they ask you for the photos you are required to bring or just take new ones of you there?

For the medical it asks to bring 4 passport photos, however on the day they didn't ask for them and just took a picture of me on the day.

Reason I ask is I am meant to do Movember and grow a moustache for charity, but my wife doesn't want me to have a moustache on my greencard picture if they take it on the day .
